I read you post and MvH did not define what a

natural born citizen is. Nor did it define a citizen.

Additionally, the court has said, in opinion after opinion, that it does not get involved in political questions.

Bush V Gore was extremely hairy and the court was very explicit in stating that the state supreme court overstepped into the political arena and that is why is was reversed and remanded.


I am familiar with the Grandfather clause and agree that your assessment is most accurate, but it is not completely clear. And the intention of the clause is exactly as I have stated.

Furthermore, the founding fathers were not assuming that the Judicial Branch had the power of judicial review. On the contrary, that question was left open.

MVM is the first sign of judicial review.
