So powerful this “Saudi” lobby you’re speaking of...

...it ensures that Israel gets $3-4 billion in economic and military aid each year, even when it does things that the US opposes, like building illegal settlements. This “Saudi” lobby convinced President Bush to delay a UN ceasefire resolution during the Lebanon War of 2006, so that Israel could try to finish off Hezbollah and continue bombing civilian areas in Lebanon. When Ambassador Charles Freeman was nominated to chair the NIC in 2009, this “Saudi” lobby promptly launched a successful smear campaign to deny him the post. When Obama asked Israel to implement a settlement freeze in 2009, this “Saudi” lobby promptly swung into action and drafted open letters warning the President not to put any pressure on Israel. When Israel attacked Gaza in December 2008, the “Saudi” lobby was there to prevent the US from interfering. And when the Goldstone Report raised the issue of possible Israeli war crimes in that war, the same “Saudi” lobby no doubt called the Obama administration and told it to condemn the report, which it promptly did. In August 2013, 76 US senators signed the “Saudi”-backed letter urging Obama more sanctions on the Iranian people to prevent a nuclear Iran and, failing that, to get ready for war. In September 2013, this “Saudi” lobby again sent hundreds of activists to meet lawmakers in Washington in a bid to win support Congressional support for military action in Syria. The long arm of the "Saudi” lobby also shapes our public discourse, aided by the chorus of pro-elitists columnists and pundits at the WSJ, Wash Post, New Republic, and Atlantic Monthly. And you'd better not say anything critical of the “Saudis”, or the Anti-Defamation League will denounce you and you might even lose your job.
