Message to the illuminati?

It sounds to me like almost any young, idealistic adult trying to make it in some established industry - law, medicine, education, manufacturing, fashion, retail, music, etc. etc. - facing some (real or perceived) ethical question of whether to "play the game" to succeed, that is, according to the standard measures of success (e.g., money or power) or stay true to one's values, whatever the risk. I give her credit for apparently doing what in good conscience she feels she needs to do, but... Do you think car, furniture, or appliance salesmen genuinely believe in the importance of those "extended warranties" they must try to sell to keep in the good graces of their bosses (if not keep their jobs altogether)? I hate to say it, but... she's really not so special, nor is the music industry. Welcome to the real world!

When we try to pick out anything by itself, we find it hitched to everything else in the Universe.
