The big result of that was that

Newt Gingrich got hosed, and Bill Clinton took his spot back as Big Dog. Gingrich was getting uppity, and politically, he played the whole situation wrong. He took a big risk, and he last.

That was the beginning of the downfall of Newt. He stretched too far.

The reason I'm interested in this current drama is that I think we might see a similar seismic shift in the balance of power.

The Republicans are attempting to mortally wound Obama, just like Newt tried to do with his buddy Clinton.

Will the outcome here be different?

To be mean is never excusable, but there is some merit in knowing that one is; the most irreparable of vices is to do evil out of stupidity. - C.B.
