Unfortunately, when the

Unfortunately, when the shutdown is over the employees are paid for the time they were "furloughed". The shutdown becomes a paid vacation. We're out the employees' pay anyhow but they didn't do any work during that time.

The only up side is that most of them do more harm than good when they're actually working, so the "shutdown" is still a net gain. B-/
