Murdock's case, Murdock was one of Jehovah's Witness who asked for contributions in exchange for books and pamphlets.

That has nothing to do with a protest.. most protests are not about vending or collecting donations, but about human trafficing.. moving a mass of people from point a to point B within a time frame.

and Shuttlesworth .. Even though Justice Stewart's opinion for the Court mentioned that "the Supreme Court of Alabama performed a remarkable job of plastic surgery upon the face of the ordinance", the Court reversed Shuttlesworth's conviction because the circumstances indicated that the parade permit was denied not to control traffic, but to censor ideas

As I said, the permit is to "control traffic", human, truck or whatever...
