That is where we went from truly independent States, to a unitary nation with administrative subdivisions and that is no surprise to anyone who studies the period.

After all, Lincoln was the first Communist leader of any nation. That term wasn't coined yet, but look at his policies, look at how he ran for office, look at his actions, LOOK AT HIS FOREIGN financial backers. These are the same money interests that later funded and backed various socialist movements in Europe.

The money powers saw the writing on the wall, knew that America was lost (save the First and Second Banks) and tried to head off at the pass, the rising tide of personal sovereignty that was sweeping Europe.

Socialism was their answer. And it was what finally brought America back into their fold - for good.
