Watch the squirrels in your area.

My two pecan trees in my yard were LOADED with pecans. More than I have ever seen before. My squirrel population is about the same from previous years. They have taken off EVERY nut in a 3 or 4 day period. They were still in the green casing, but ready enough for the squirrels. My driveway is broken pecan shells everywhere. The back of my pick-up has broken shells all in it. I can walk outside and hear them falling on my truck and fall over me when I walk under the trees.

I think this means a really cold winter for Central Texas or something is going on in their food chain to make them eat this voraciously. They aren't digging and hiding them much. Just eating them like they are starving and they look healthy.
