What kind of a question is ... Are you a thing?

It has already been established a person is a type of thing.

No, I am not a thing. I am who I am.

"A person is a being, such as a human, that has certain capacities or attributes constituting personhood, which in turn is defined differently by different authors in different disciplines, and by different cultures in different times and places. In ancient Rome, the word "persona" (Latin) or "prosopon" (πρόσωπον: Greek) originally referred to the masks worn by actors on stage. The various masks represented the various "personae" in the stage play."

Am I a mask worn on a stage? No, but I have used them.

Am I a person? Most certainly not, but I can not deny I have operated as a person on occasion by wearing a mask of person hood because I benefited from doing so.

Voluntarily operating as a person for ones own benefit and compelled to being a person with no benefit are not the same thing and never will be.

Is consciousness a physical thing?
