Your use of "ripped off" is appropriate because absent compliance to license agreement, we have first of all, pure and simple theft.

We have the sale of the software in question. Another gross violation of the license as well as another instance of theft and or fraud.

We have a major breach of professional ethics (naked plagiarism).

We have a major insult to and breach of trust with the entire open-source community.

This is before any misrepresentations made by the vendor.
