Thanks for historical truth . . .

because its 'the truth that will set us free'. Unfortunately people are too often in love with the fairy tales that they have been indoctrinated with since they were children.
There were those men including Thomas Jefferson & James Madison who had a vision for America as a nation made up of free men governing themselves. There were men such as Thomas Paine who wrote about the principles of Liberty. At the same time, there were those in America who wanted to establish the kind of system that was in England at the time. They just wanted to be the new 'royalty' in the new nation. They wanted to establish a partnership between insider favored businessmen and those in a new centralized national government - to the detriment of everyone else. Alexander Hamilton was one of these individuals.

This has been going on for a long time.

Those founders who wanted a new government truly based on Liberty warned of the need to be constantly vigilant and protective of indivual rights to an extent not seen previously. (But always remember that no mortal men are perfect. We must pay attention to what is done in our name.)

Thomas Jefferson warned during the American Revolution:

"From the conclusion of the war we shall be going down hill. It will not be necessary to resort every moment to the people for support. They will be forgotten, therefore, and their rights disregarded. They will forget themselves, but in the sole faculty of making money, and will never think of uniting to effect a due respect for their rights. "
