This is really very good.

When I forwarded to my family, this was the reply I got from my oldest brother:

I like the approach the author takes. Very much a true story. Chris' [his wife] dad ordered a 22 rifle from the Sears catalog as a boy. No federal paperwork or background check - just sent for it in the mail. He would take the gun to school, imagine that. The rifle was left outside, leaning against the wall of the one-room schoolhouse. Fresh rabbit or squirrel made a good dinner, especially during the Great Depression. He, and the other farm boys, would take their rifles and hunt for rabbits and squirrels on the walk back home. The guns always were "well behaved."
