especially the part about American apathy...that is a huge problem...even when we become activists it is like Americans are 'apathetic activists' in that they spend their time on conspiracy theories and other nonsense designed to fill their time with air.

What you say is also in part true about getting return on investments. My dad worked in aerospace and used to talk about how the money spent on it was returned in the value of the new technologies that were created. My carbon fiber seatpost on my bike owes gratitude to the space program and the taxpayers for its existence. But I guess my beef is with doing that with Israel, instead of with us.

I suspect there may be some reason for it that has to do with avoiding legal restrictions on what is developed or how it is developed, that exist here in the U.S. In Israel, they don't mess around as they view their world as a battlefield.
