From a relativist POV, this isn't too onerous. Our taxes on alcohol here are closer to 50% and I think tobacco is way more.
Now, if the market were able to sell cannibis somewhere around where another plant of its growing capacity and charged say a 200% profit margin it would be priced similarly to a head of cabbage I believe. It's a pretty easy crop to grow I've heard.
Any industrial farming scale operation could probably be selling an ounce of product for a couple dollars.
Yea, taxes and home-growing bans are bad, but this sounds like a wholesale improvement over what the rest of the country has i.e., $100's of dollars for an ounce on the black market and then go to jail for having it.
