Unfortunately this is how the federal government grew at the beginning from 5% of the economy to well over 50%. Someone sees a problem and wants a government fix. This gave rise to the FCC in the first place which then created monopolistic positions and destroyed the free market.
If the federal government starts to use force in the internet, then it will just keep expanding until we can no longer freely communicate. What we should be striving for is an elimination of government involvement that creates these dangers to begin with rather than another government fix that ultimately will fail.
Do you think that you pull the government strings or that they are pulled by special interests who line up with big pocketbooks to sway politicians and bureaucrats? Your fears are being exploited to manipulate you into giving up freedom; same old story, just different title to the play, in my view.
"Bend over and grab your ankles" should be etched in stone at the entrance to every government building and every government office.
