The NFL absolutely was incredible back in the 80's. But I understand the rules changes because a lot of those players became a shell of a human being after they retired. For example, Jim McMahon says if he could go back and do it all over again, he'd have been a baseball player.

In any case, that's missing the point. The NFL is now becoming a mouthpiece of the state. We see it w/ the military flyovers, the "Salute To Service" in the endzone, and Bob Costas waxing poetic about banning guns. On top of that, they distract people from focusing on the real issues that affect their liberty. I still watch sports but a lot less than I used to and I oftentimes just leave them on mute in the background while doing other things (e.g. while reading DP).
