I'd Rather Be Blue Thinking Of You...

Trust me, you won't find me posting many songs from musicals. In fact, it was a subject of discussion over Christmas. Apparently the "IGIAM" (In General I Abhor Musicals") gene was inherited by my children - what I'd call a fine example of survival of the fittest (no less despite a concerted effort by some to lower their musical standards). :) It was funny. In that recent conversation, a fiancee mistakenly believed she'd found a chink in the armour: "But what about Jesus Christ Superstar? You all love that!" In chorus, my children instantly threw back: "That's not a musical! It's a rock OPERA!" Times like that make a mom beam with pride. [Note: re "good" musicals, Evita would be among the (few) exceptions; I was fortunate to see it w/Patti Lupone. Grease is another, but mostly because it was a school production in which one of my children had a nice part. Re "bad" musicals, top of the list would have to be A Chorus Line and Dreamgirls.] Well, my bias against musicals notwith-standing, this song from Funny Girl is what came to mind when I saw your post.
