Speaking of fasting...

Stillwater. Good work on taking off the pounds.

Speaking of fasting, this is a book that I ran across when I was in England last year. It looks pretty good. It is called The Fast Diet, or alternately in Wikipedia as the 5:2 diet, because it involves eating regularly for 5 days, and fasting for two.

On those two days of your choosing you reduce your calories down to 600 per day. You can do any two days of the week - say Monday and Thursday. It mimics the old days of food scarcity for humans, and that helps your body to regulate its fat storage.

600 calories means you can have a couple eggs for breakfast; some nuts and fruit for lunch, and a salad for dinner. It is not such a long period that you give up on it - anyone can make it through one day of a meal like that. There are also other benefits, like making one aware of one's body. Nothing does that like hunger pangs. And you become grateful, not only for food, but for the miracle that is your body.

In the book, the author says he lost so much weight that his wife started to get worried about him, and make him scale his fasting days down to one day a week!

Good luck stillwater. Happy New Year, and keep up the good work.

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.
