You could add up all the children who have lost their lives in school shootings, and I am certain that it pales in comparison to how many children that have died at the hands (and guns) of police. This particular teenager had a mental condition that should have afforded him a little more consideration than 'I don't have time for this.' I worked at a facility for the developmentally disabled for several years, and things like this were at least a weekly occurrence. Were we armed? No. Did we get hurt? Occasionally. Did we live in fear? Sometimes. Could we lose self-control? Only if we wanted to lose our jobs, followed by criminal charges. Why do the police get a free pass when they can't control themselves?
