If true, one could circumvent

If true, one could circumvent this problem by paying cash for a computer. However, if the NSA is lying (assume yes), then ALL recent computers using proprietary integrated circuits have the capability of being monitored in this manner. The solution to mitigate this problem of unconstitutional snooping is to move to open hardware, e.g. Novena, and open software, e.g. GNU/Linux. In light of Snowden's revelations, I ask this question. Should users of open software, e.g. GNU/Linux, risk using binary drivers from nVidia and AMD?
