Michael - interesting you mention war in your chess comments.

Some say chess is art. Some say it is war. Some say it is science.

It's a combination of all.

It was believed to originally be a pseudo-war game invented most likely in India with pieces being Indian representations like war elephants.

But as it moved through Europe it changed to kings and queens and knights etc to reflect European medieval society.

But the sheer number of combinations possible within the 64 squares boundary from a mathematical standpoint, are unfathomable by the human mind.

Even just the 1st 10 move combinations possible is a number bigger than we can comprehend.
