Yes, there were the occasional round-ups of Communist agitators, but until the late nineteen-sixties, when "neo-conservative" groups and the post-Vatican II Catholic church turned against Francisco Franco's dictatorship, the country seems to have been more prosperous and secure than it has been since he died and the socialists gained control.
