Western society pretty well. Teenager (though she says and identifies a slightly older group, more like the extended adolescent concept) is a fiction. Adults in western Europe and the U.S. have generally low expectations of adolescents. Studies show they perform in areas that associated with mature thought and conduct very close or better than their adult counterparts. Our western adolescents return in kind the generally low regard toward us the adults. In societies where adolescents are more integrated with the af tributes of adults, teenagerism disappears.
