There's more to this than style and looks

though they definitely tried to appeal to a common artistic portrayal of Jesus that is popular enough for most folks to recognize. It's not so much imparting that racial texture onto Jesus, as giving most viewers a somewhat familiar role model.

That said, I always love when objectors try to make it about the actor cast, than the way they fulfilled the toughest role they will likely ever portray. Directors and scriptwriters, likewise have their own struggles with this Role; but the actor's inner conflicts have to be weighed in, when measuring how well they accomplished what they hope to convey to their audience.

Many who profess to know Him, Jesus said that He one day say, "Depart from me, I never knew you", including those you speak of here.
