There are tremendous areas of land (Siberia/Canada) that aren't very available for farming. Huge amounts of resources are spent on heating. A few degrees and a few weeks of growing season could make life better for most people. Maybe a few guys get their houses flooded (or the warmer air allows for greater snowfall in the high arctic, actually reducing sea levels).
Between the Medieval Warm Period and the Little Ice Age, one created a lot more suffering than the other. Hint: It wasn't the one where England was growing wine grapes.
