The earth belongs to the

The earth belongs to the living. How do we have a stable, just society and recognize this fact?

It's a problem, and it hasn't been worked out even in libertarian theory (not to my satisfaction anyway). Jefferson posed the problem and hinted at just solutions, leaving it to Madison the architect to work out the details. Dunno if Madison even tried, but we do know there is no just solution in place in our nation state. The mere ability to participate in the democracy sure isn't a solution. Jefferson rips that argument to shreds and his reasons are a hundred times more relevant today!

If you are interested in his thoughts you really should take a few minutes and read Jefferson's letter to Madison that I linked.
