You do make some good points on force.

I'll concede that it would be nearly impossible to raise a child without the use of force, which I think is your point.

Nonetheless, this topic is specifically about the use of physical violence, and the question is whether or not it is excessive use of force?

The question posed to those who say spanking is not excessive (or even necessary), is give an example of when other non-violent uses of force wouldn't work.

I think that's a fair question to ask, and the fact no one has tried to offer any examples but instead anonymously downvote the request, says a lot about the true conviction (or lack thereof) of people who hold that position.
