Comment: The author of the quotes

The author of the quotes

is Ayn Rand, in Atlas Shrugged.

And it IS important who said them: Rand's stalwart individualism and her moral defense of free trade sets her apart from just about all "major" philosophers (that anyone would ENJOY reading, anyway). Jerome Tucille once wrote a book about the libertarian movement titled "It Usually Begins With Ayn Rand." I have not read the book -- but the title is apt.
