from back room deals and avoid market competition by buying legislation. We have all see the big budget films about the poor families hurt by pollution/abuse. These companies hide behind laws and legal muscle that is no different from mafia dealings. They do not change until it is too painful not to which requires gobbs of money and years of legal fight to prove. This happens partially because of the de-emphasis of the sovereignty of the individual. This is an example of playing by their rules to win at their game. In a free market others could start responsible companies and steal workers or sovereign people could use a libertarian legal system based on property rights as stated above.
The idea that the government has to protect you from evil companies is based in the the idea that you are not free and capable of protecting yourself i.e. you are a serf and need protection because you are their property.
