"The Underground History of American Education" by John Taylor Gatto who was both the New York City and New York State "Teacher of the Year" the year he wrote it. Have you read it yet?
If not, I highly recommend you do. If saying it twice would add more urgency to the importance of this tome...consider it said. Every teacher in this country, whether from the public sector, or teaching within the public-sector-controlled private sector, and every parent in this country, needs to read this book and apply themselves to understanding its ramifications. This of course, and true to the thesis of the book, can be quite difficult given the mind-control that has been exercised on us as a people.
If anyone reads this, you may find yourself wanting concrete evidence of the scheme of forced schooling that has reduced us to a nation of mindless subordinating sheeple. One need only to visit scribd and peruse the 1954 Reece Commission Report for the smoking cannon.

"...there is no doubt that it (socialism) could not possibly have affected us so widely and so deeply as it has, had it not been heavily financed". - B. Carroll Reece
