Let's start a new campaign: The John McCain can't win Campaign.

I think we should start a new campaign... well, in addition to the current one. It's called "McCain can't win."
Cite all the obvious reasons- his stance on the unpopular war, his stance on illegal immigration, his stance on taxes, his stance on democrat legislation, and MOST IMPORTANTLY: FUNDING. Sorry, but money wins, and if you don't have money, you don't win.
Then, after explaining McCain's faults, explain the democrats' strengths (Obama is going to be the nominee... point out the enthusiasm of his support and his fundraising abilities- hundreds of millions of dollars in a matter of months). Then propose the need for a real small government conservative, someone completely opposite the democrats (McCain's too similar). Then introduce Ron Paul. Then explain Ron Paul's strengths- why he can win (he's the opposite the dems- with a real choice people will actually vote on the issues and not personality). Explain how because Paul is an advocate of small government and personal freedom he can win, because that's the exact same way Reagan won. Paul has the advantage on the War and the Economy. He's an expert in both areas, and his record backs everything up (he never voted for the war or spending, yet Hillary voted for it, and Obama voted for funding). Plus he has the support of the troops.
On Health Care, the man's a doctor... doctor knows best.
On the economy, he is an economist, he has a degree, and people literally cheer for him on Wall Street when he questions Ben Bernanke, enough said.
His beliefs are all based on philosophy and facts. The others' beliefs are based on pandering to voters.
Then explain Paul's solutions.... not only are they in line with the Constitution, but they're realistic, and appropriate and people will appreciate real solutions... such as: people don't like the war, so let's end it and divert the overseas wasteful spending back home. Then we save money and have more to spend here for the things people care about (infrastructure, schools, health care, etc.). That's a simple and logical solution that everyone can understand. You can take the time to try and explain the philosophy and in depth solutions too... but most people struggle to understand that stuff.
People respect consistency and principle and only Paul has that. They also respect not having their taxes raised and having them reduced in a time when everything is more expensive. They respect people who have the backing of other experts and intellectuals. They respect people who want to bring their family members home and treat them right.
Spread the fear.... the fear that McCain equals guaranteed defeat. Then show them hope.

What I'd like to see is a modified Ron Paul campaign to bring awareness of the fact that the media is ignoring us.
Something like:
"We're still here and we're GROWING"
"Don't let MSM tell you who to vote for"
"Ron Paul STILL in the race!"
"Choose the ONLY conservative still running!"
"Ron Paul, the choice of WE THE PEOPLE!"
I'm not a marketing guru, but I know there are LOTS of Republicans who dislike McCain but don't think there is another choice, or they think we don't have a chance.
Any thoughts?

We can not play thier game, we will lose. We need to take McCain down. We need to wake the Republicans up, otherwise we will just get swept aside.

It's not only whispers. Some people are very outspoken about not liking McCain. There are also those who reluctantly support him because they are pressured to.
McCain really cannot last much longer in this race. I believe his house of cards will soon collapse around him.

I think this should be coming out of the Libertarian and other third party camps as reasoning behind their version of plan B. Said plan B needs to be a winner and it needs to be presented soon rather than later.
Heads up for states with final conventions still to come. Washington state GOP has changed it's agenda for the upcoming state convention. They are making an attempt to not have to elect a chair so they can just place all their cronies in the position needed to challenge all Ron Paul delegates. The subject deserves it's own topic but i don't enough details yet.

We need to do this in a way which does not give up much, if any, ground to the democrats.
I think something along the lines of the following statement would be a good starting point:
"The Republican Party cannot win the 2008 presidential election with McCain."
That simple statement might have people looking at other options for the Republican Party. Obviously, Ron Paul is the last man standing next to McCain - so he would probably be the first consideration aside from the party attempting to bring in a new candidate.
So, with that statement we do to McCain exactly what the MSM did to Ron Paul over the last year or so. We can also mix it up a bit with other statements:
"The Republican Party is doomed because of McCain."
"McCain cannot pull this one off for the Republican Party"
"The Republican Party needs a better option as McCain doesn't have a chance."
"We need a stronger and more conservative candidate than McCain in order to give the Republican Party a chance."
etc, etc...
The whole point is to get republicans to look at other republican options while not giving up any ground to the democrats (as that is who RP would be running against if he becomes the party nominee).

1.) A very large oak tree or swamp cypress in the middle of nowhere.

Make sure to paint him thinly with the honey before kicking,pouring on the red ants.
This can also be used in alligator infested waters, sans the honey.

Of course, since there are probably fellow delegates at McCain's events, one would have to be on one's best behavior--en masse.

It's to our benefit to only show our love for Ron Paul, and not show any hard feelings to McCain. Positive overcomes negative every time. Remember when Guiliani admiringly said "Boy, Ron Paul's sure got a lot of supporters!"

Not really
He's against torture, rhetorically. Rhetorically, so is Bush. But in practice, McCain voted for a bill which allows the President to decide what torture is. And in practice, Bush won't admit that waterboarding is torture, and if there has been a formal announcement that the US is no longer waterboarding "detainees," I must have missed it.
