Ron Paul supporters, who are you guys?

A similar thread was originally started by MashTheGas but I guess it was lost with the server crash. It lasted a few weeks with a few hundred responses.

Answer as much or as little as you want. It's great to see what an eclectic group supports Ron Paul.

What’s your political history?
I don't have any. But, I've just started interning for Richard Tisei. I disagree with a lot of his views, but it's between him and John Tierney, and Tisei is much better. I guess I'm just trying to understand the political process in case I ever decide to run for anything myself. I think it's a good idea to make political connections that way I'll be taken seriously if I ever ran in the future.

What brought you to Ron Paul?
My grandfather. He was a subscriber to the Ron Paul newsletter and followed Dr. Paul's entire political career. When I asked him about the 2012 presidential race last summer, he told me who he liked the most. Obviously, it was Ron Paul. So I started researching him, read his three most recent books, and started talking to my grandfather about him. Ever since then, my grampy has been teaching me about economics, and has led me to some books that have immensely shaped my thinking. I hope that one day I will be successful in running for either senate or congress that way I can continue teaching what Ron Paul and my grandfather have been teaching people for years.

Annoyed i guess would be the best term to use. I have always been interested in politic's but after high school I forced my self to become distant from it. there has always been one thing about politics which gets me extremely pissed off, and it can be summed up quite fast. "what is this politician lying about" i learned early that if there was one thing i could count on in a politician it was the fact that they were all lying about something and none of them seemed to be working to protect the ideals which i held dear, which leads me to the next question.

What brought you to Ron Paul?
believe it or not because of the way i distanced my self there was a lot i did not know about then one day i was at a bar and they had some news program running and something came up real brief as it usually works and what ever the interview might have been i remember hearing Dr Paul say "Read the Constitution" then background noise took over... then again "Constitution". this was enough for me to start watching the news and you will never guess what i found... a negative response to the man who claimed the answers lied within our constitution which was written by the founding fathers of our nation so i started looking online and trying to learn what i could still not extremely aggressive about it (at this point still i had never registered to vote) then the day came i woke up on Jan, 1st, 2012 did my morning routine and jumped on the internet and opened Google and YouTube did a quick search for Ron Paul, and you all know what i found "NDAA" I could not believe my eyes so i went and i probably spent 8 hours going over this "NDAA" which at the time i had never heard of this was the day i registered and also the day i first donated to the Ron Paul Campaign now on a daily basis i hear from my wife "are you watching more political crap"

thank you Dr Paul for curing my apathy

lol...

If I had a penny every time my wife asked me if i was watch political crap.
Unfortunately she's not too active but she knows what's right and wrong : )

What brought you to Ron Paul?
My first glimpse of Dr Paul was in a Fox 2008 Republican Presidential debate i saw on YouTube, when i heard him speak i remember thinking...did a politician just give a straight-forward honest answer about secret money exchanges and debt. Who is this guy?

Researched more about Dr Paul, i now can go as far as saying he has changed my life which sounds weird even now. He has literally opened my eyes to politics, corruption, law, liberty and business. Dr Paul has changed my way of thinking not just in these categories but in life.

We must question everything.
Government should be afraid of us, not us afraid of government.
Know the difference between Tyranny, a Republic and a Democracy.
Understand what liberty really means, for your sake.

Is Australia...

...losing freedoms as fast as the U.S.? Our country has boasted the most for years about being the best place in the world to live and having more freedom than any other nation. I don't hear that much anymore! What do people think over there?

I dont believe so but that doesnt mean they havent tried

Here are some recent examples.

- Today: NZ high court ruled the police raid on Megaupload founder Kim Dotcom was illegal which was requested by the FBI. Judge also ruled that the 150 Terabytes of seized data by the NZ police and FBI was also illegal and want it returned.

- Government Filter: The Australia government were trying to add an Internet filter (a blacklist) of sites that would be enforced however this list would only be available to the government. The people saw that this filter could be used for other intentions in controlling our Internet freedoms. It did not pass.

- One of our biggest Internet service providers were been sued by an "Australian company" on behalf of several US Movie companies to crack down on piracy. This ended up in the high court and won by the ISP.

There is also plenty of discussion which i love regarding government decisions. I always get asked why I listening to the most boring radio station ever lol.

CROCODILE DUNDEE KILLED BY GUN-CONFISCATING POLICE
http://www.theforbiddenknowledge.com/hardtruth/crocodile_dun...

I am unashamed to tell you I am weeping as I write this story.

Last August, Rodney William Ansell, the rugged Aussie whose real life exploits inspired the Crocodile Dundee movies, died in a shootout with Australian police who had come (to confiscate his unregistered firearms. Oh, you didn't read about it in our ‘free’ press? That's cause it never appeared.

A police sergeant was also killed in the incident; the number of "peace officers" injured while invading old 'Croc' in his natural domain is unknown, but likely he took down several. I don't mean to imply glee over the death and possible additional injuries; after all, they were "just doing their job" like the obedient Nazi's tried at Nuremburg.

Ansell had been named 1988 Australian Man of the Year for inspiring the movie and putting Australia on the Tourism Map." of particular interest to us here in the tourism dependent desert, Ansell was probably responsible for hundreds of millions of increased tourism dollars flowing into his beloved country. This is how his country repaid him. Because you see, in today's world, no good deed goes unpunished and no bad deed un-rewarded. After all, Janet Reno was the laughingstock of DA's nation-wide for her inept to outright unlawful per-formance in Florida. She is now "our-Attorney General (in addition to Fidel Castro's).

Thanks!

I find other countries very interesting to learn about! We have become so secluded here! In ten years, or since 911 it has become a totally different place, and no one much likes it. Soon we will celebrate July 4th...a celebration of our freedom. It doesn't mean much anymore and we are gasping to salvage what is left.

Anyways, it would be interesting to learn more! And all is well regardless! So far the sun will still come up and we have food on the table! Thanks friend!

just continue the good fight

Whether its 2012, 2016, 2020 and beyond

The U.S is on a spotlight
The day you guys elect a people's president.
Countries all over the world will follow in electing similar leaders.
So you are not fighting just for your own country.
In many many ways, you are fighting for the world.
If it didn't, i wouldn't care who gets elected for the presidency but i do.

Hey! New person stopping by

I've been reading like crazy (for years now) and appreciate your style. I thought I would stop by this thread and say hello. I'm in Michigan and don't know everything but I know what I like! Unfortunately, Romney's people have put a blanket on the state but I fight for freedom anyways. yadayada... I hope to contribute in the days and weeks to come. I'm looking forward to a peaceful showdown and expose from Tampa! Ron Paul cured my apathy! :)

Still working in the Automobile industry. Midnights no less :) Knock on wood.

Hah!

Michigan too! Yeah, I'm surrounded by those who originally didn't want Romney at ALL, but after today, they are begging for him. As if he would actually change something! I see this every election. Almost like a cry for someone real, someone who will actually care and do something right! These people listen to Fox & Rush...go figure. They mock Paul, the only real candidate in years! I'm not done with these people yet..they will understand one day.

And...welcome aboard! Both sides of the family have the big 3 in the back round...as far as AMC!=)

I'm a Virginian

who wants to see the restoration of liberty, peace, and personal responsibility in our nation. I feel the federal government's role should be minimal. I agree with virtually every chapter in Ron Paul's "Liberty Defined". I support Ron Paul 2012 financially and was a delegate to the 2012 Virginia Republican Convention.

I'm a 50-something male who raises a garden, cuts firewood, believes Jesus is my personal savior, owns more than one gun, and believes gold and silver are money.

Glad to be here, sorry it took so long to find you all.

Magna est veritas, et prevalebit. Truth is most powerful, and will ultimately prevail.

About me

I am an old fart compared to most RPers. I discovered Ron Paul's writings on LewRockwell during the run-up to the Iraq war and have been a supporters since. I am prolife and antiwar and pro civil-liberties-not many Pols like that out there. I live in Maryland and have campaign for RP there.

Vickie

Please tell me why...

Can one of you anti-tell-me-about-yourselfers explain exactly WHAT the secret illuminati plot to assassinate RP delegates is going to do with ages and occupations of random Ron Paul supporters? Just curious for an explanation.

About Me

I'm 27 born and raised in Florida; I work at a Crocs Kiosk and a senior care company.
I was raised a good Southern Baptist therefore Republican, and did sign waves for Rob Wallace and precinct walking for Bill Bunkley. I happily voted for George W. Bush in my first eligible election (2004), but I've always been inquisitive, and therefore rebellious, so I began slowly to see past the façade. Through studying economics, history, and the Bible, I became more or less libertarian/paleo-con/constitutional. A libertarian-ish friend directed me to Ron Paul in 2008. I read about his being "liberal" and "crazy" and saw his horrible debate performance, but something clicked. So I read some of his speeches on the floor of the senate, and I was forever hooked. Fearing McCain would win the primary, I compromised and voted for Huckabee, but when McCain won the Republican Nomination I had buyers remorse; I realized I could NOT compromise on liberty and truth. I voted for Chuck Baldwin (CP) in the 2008 presidential election and happily voted for Dr. Ron Paul in the 2012 Florida Republican Primary (he is the only reason I'm still registered Republican).

How old are you? Mid-20's
Where are you from? St.Louis, Missouri
What do you do? I am an event planning and marketing professional, all of which come in handy when campaigning.
What’s your political history? Life-long republican. Very sickened by the liberal teachings in our school systems. My first real taste at activism came with the tea party (original tea party, pre-infiltration) and being anti-Obamacare.
What brought you to Ron Paul? I was googling and poking around on the internet one day and literally just 'woke up' all of the sudden. Within a week I had contacted the campaign, and now I am headed to Tampa. I've met some really incredible people along the way.

We "get it"

We don't want anything from the government. We take care of ourselves and our loved ones. We have more than 2 brain cells.

We are the 99 percent

Who are you guys? I hate politics and I despise every politician I have ever known to and heard speak out loud, except RON PAUL. He says what I feel in my heart.

30 - Never voted

A small libertarian militant farmstead near the Canadian border

I do what ever my heart desires regardless off morality or legality.

I have never voted but I am registered and I will write Ron Paul's name in regardless whether he is on the ballet.

Youtube.com video called 7 Lies in under two minutes which slammed Obama. I believe all politicians should die and rot in hell except Ron Paul and those with the same beliefs.

Well....

Just the facts:

42 y/o male from Florida

Husband, daddy, Christian and small business owner

Registered GOP when I turned 18. I was around when the goal of the "religious right" was all about make sure that OUR rights were not trampled and our voice heard, not legislating our lifestyle on others and growing government.

I liked things I heard from Ron Paul in 07, but as many were, I was oblivious to the true platform of the man, due to the media blackout. As I watched the very first debates, I was caught by the man's wisdom and principle in handling issues.

Rand Paul 2016

Process of Growing Up and Transformation

As part of my process in my church I have spent the last two years living on a mat in a homeless shelter in Seattle.

I have been using the free library computers daily for 90 minutes, with no other resources available. I have not been a part of normal society, even unable to become a delegate or even vote for Dr. Paul in the March caucus or see his rally here.

Thank you Tom Woods, Tom Dilorenzo, and Lew Rockwell, for helping me to begin to fully educate myself in history and Austrian economics. I am now emerging from some heavy Neocon programming as part of what I now call “The Evangelical Blob.” As part of that process, I very recently discovered the Daily Paul. Thank God!

Thank you Adam Kokesh, and others here for helping me to understand more fully what is going on.

Soon, as part of that process, I will re-emerge into Society.

Thanks, too, Obi-Ron.
