Ron Paul supporters, who are you guys?

A similar thread was originally started by MashTheGas but I guess it was lost with the server crash. It lasted a few weeks with a few hundred responses.

Who are you guys?

How old are you?
Where are you from?
What do you do?
What’s your political history?
What brought you to Ron Paul?

Answer as much or as little as you want. It's great to see what an eclectic group supports Ron Paul.

Corruption in politics is way too rampant; it's time to get back to the basics and follow the constitution.
Ron Paul FTW

What brought you to Ron Paul? -- Ron is the first honest politician I have ever encountered. He speaks the truth about everything. He is a guy you can trust to lead this country based on honest principles.

Ron Paul is my President.

Another Staunch RP supporter!

I'm 25 years old.
I'm from Pennsylvania.
I'm in between jobs at the moment.
I've been a Libertarian since 2003, and I'm proud of it!!!
Far and away the biggest attraction that Ron Paul has for me: Common Sense!

Political history? Libertarian
RON PAUL! Found him online and loved his ideas.

I should say I'm a Libertarian much in the same way most people choose their political party... my dad was registered as one so i registered as one. ;) Neither of us are very political.

I've been voting since i was 18 but i don't think i really started looking into politics until the last 2 years. I started getting into podcasts and one of them was called 'Free Talk Live' and it made me realize i knew diddle about politics.

Ron Paul came at a good time for me. As i was starting to understand the issues a little more he came on board and seem to be saying what i was thinking.

I just changed my party to Republican last week so i can vote in the California Primary. :)

Ron Paul 2008!

New England suppporter

How old are you? 50 in actual time, much younger in heart and mind
Where are you from? Rhode Island
What do you do? Administrative Assistant
What’s your political history? Republican, mostly. I vote for the person, not the party.
What brought you to Ron Paul? His values, his unwavering stance for issues he believes in and his directness. He is a man of integrity, something the leaders of this country have lacked for way too long.

12 Steps to victory - Long but would love feedback

Copy + Paste and Send to press@ronpaul2008.com if you agree with most of my points here. Lets win this guys. God bless America and God bless Ron Paul

1. Establish a grassroots Liaison. Coral the grassroots more effectively. Offer the grassroots proselytizing suggestions.
(REASON: More fringe elements in the grassroots may be a liability who don't carrying the message properly to new and undecided voters)
(ACTION: You could do a video today pointing to the ronpaul2008.com website and there could be a page of "Suggestions for how to tell people about Ron" page up by Monday)

2. Exude confidence when speaking and make promises in the first person
(ACTION: Communications team can work with Dr. Paul directly on this starting right now - If its not in his nature then so be it but psychologically it will help dispel the myth that he doesnt think he can win)

3. Open up the campaign to the talents of the followers (areas the campaign is weak in can be easily outsourced to small disparate groups of followers with arguably much more expertise than those in the campaign) The campaign crew can vet ideas without having to lift a finger (could even use something like www.basecamp.com?)
(ACTION: Not sure of costs but this could be implemented in a week or less.( i.e. Set out the criteria for submissions with new ads with budget expectations, timelines. RFQ could be posted on youtube , facebook, dailypaul, ronpaulforums, myspace etc)

4. Unite the followers using youtube and meetup more effectively online. Weekly chats and updates
(ACTION: Could be done within days)

5. Dispel the 5 key myths against Ron Paul with more savvy PR and advertising rebuttals

-weak against terrorists
-cant win primaries and cant beat hilary,
-not a republican
-crazy, racist, anti semitic, 911 truther
-will destroy medicare and social security
See some thumbnail ideas I proposed here http://www.dailypaul.com/node/12684
(ACTION: Combination of looking at 3 and speaking with existing ad agency to solve the problem of poor ads)

6. Push message that Christ believed in peace and just war (quote from the bible IMHO)
(ACTION: Get a preacher to help you if you have to but this is important in the bible belt...make it important to you)

7 Shed light on things the public view as "conspiracy" which will put the media and other candidates in the hotseat to defend why they're doing NOTHING about it.
(ACTION: List links to youtube pages, offer information to respected organizations such as factchecker.org to see what they do with it...must be smart so you dont look like a conspiracy freak)
I'd stick to easily verifiable "conspiracies" such as NAU and the Amero and Transhighway

8. Illustrate what the "inflation tax " is more succinctly and use every single headline to push a press release showing why your right about the economy
(ACTION: I'm shocked they haven't told the world that Greenspan agrees with the idea of a currency board or Gold standard...that claim just eats up the nay-sayers)

9. Dispel soon coming negative campaigns in advance (see http://www.chron.com/disp/commnts.mpl/politics/5374328.html )
(ACTION: Beyond my scope...dont know how much is true)

10. Project optimism. Specifically project how optimistic you are that America under your leadership will be restored to its greatness
"When I am president and the constitution is restored again I see a bright future ahead for this country"

vs

"We're not moving in the right direction and the rule of law and constitution are being trampled"
(ACTION: Can be done immediately)

11. Bring your wife around more often. Your principled way of living puts you in stark contrast to guys like Rudy Giuliani. Shit ...send the media her cookbook if you need to.
(ACTION: If she's fine to fly and travel .... get her on the campaign trail..if Hil and Obama do it theres a reason)

12. Don't smear your opponents UNLESS initially attacked. You've come so far without a need for it. Once the truth of your message sets in the rest simply pale in comparison. Have faith that the message overcomes all.
(ACTION: Reprimand or fire staffers that decided to attack Huck and take the high road from now on)

-----------------DO YOU REALLY WANT RON TO WIN------------------
Ron needs more than just money. Send this strategy to mail@ronpaul2008.com and also to press@ronpaul2008.com if these ideas make sense to you

Don't Get Fooled Again!

I'm 56.
I'm from New Jersey, originally.
I'm a sound engineer.
I've been a Democrat to the point of voting Bill Clinton in '92.
Then the treason, scandals and more treason.

"I'll get on my knees and pray;
I don't get fooled again!"

So then the Libertarian Party and Ron Paul.

Now Republican, so long as Ron Paul leads.

I am

I am a 20 year old college student majoring in history. I am a registered independent and self described paleo-conservative. I was born and raised in Pennsylvania, lived for three years in and around Boston, MA, and now live and go to school in Philly, PA. I am attracted to Paul because his stances and voting record are most in line with those of Barry Goldwater and paleo-conservative points of view.

A Independent reg. voter Voted for Ross Perot. Both Dems and Republicans are sleeping with eachother Except Ron Paul.

I am supporting Ron Paul for President because of his knowledge/expertise of econmics, the Fed. Res. His total honesty. He has reminded me once again how great WE THE PEOPLE are and that we are in no way a reflection of the people in Washington.

Who is John Galt?

I'm 57.

Born and raised in New England - Connecticut and Massachusetts but moved west in 1976 and live in Oregon now.

Self-employed for 25 year but put out of business 3 months ago because of a Federal Regulatory change.

Politically I have been frustrated to tears and not even registered to vote for the past 20 years until Ron announced his candidacy. Since then I've been SUPER REPUBLICAN and signed up 38 DEMS now as Republicans so they can vote in our closed primary. Gave them all 2nd voter registration cards so they could change the day after the primary if they wanted to.

I have known of Dr. Paul since his Presidential run as Libertarian and PRAYED for this day EVER SINCE. America, the WHOLE WORLD is lost if we lose this chance Ron Paul has gifted us with by running.

Hey, Good Name Francisco! You've GOT IT!

Who I am

TmofMiisk here

I am just 42 Years Young

From Utah

I am a Retired Army veteran, and I uphold and support the constitution of the United States in a different way now. Go Ron Paul
I am a Freelance writer Fantasy Fiction and a Project manager for a Construction and Development Firm

I was a head in the sand Republican until I retired that is when I became interested in politics, wanting to stay “active” in keeping America strong. As I began to learn more about the constitution and what was going wrong with the government, I became an independent/constitutionalist. Kind of sad that a 20-year veteran never realized how corrupted the government was.

My sister has been involved with the Constitution Party for a long time now and as I learned and we spoke Dr. Paul’s name came up I did some research and was impressed and I was thrilled beyond measure when I found out he was running for president. Like others here, this is the first time I have ever given money to a political candidate. As a single father raising my two children without any other support I am on a strict budget, and it is not an easy task to part with $100.00 + the $200.00 I’ve pulled together for the 16th.

What we do now my friends is just one step in a long journey to secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity.

God Bless

What do you do?

I assume I do whatever every other american does. I seek what makes me happy. Oh where you refering to my job? I am a very successful daytrader / SwingTrader / Investor.

What’s your political history?

Pretty much hatred until I ran into Ron Paul! Although I did vote against Bush in the last election because I did see his evil, munipulative, I want to rule the world side. I also won a huge bet when he was first nominatd for president betting on him going into Iraq for a war! (this was a give 'me bet as far as I am concerned)

What brought you to Ron Paul?

I watched a debate because its part of what I do as my job. I was watching just fiddling around as usual expecting the usual horse crap that gets spilled out by the crooks.(YES, I said Crooks!) Then I heard Ron Paul while not paying attention and my brain basically said WTF! I thought I was watching a movie or on some drug I did'nt intentionally take. I have hated Politics to the umteenth degree for most of my adult life, but to find a man speaking the truth, just flat out astonished me. If Dr. Paul becomes our President I honestly would'nt know what to do with myself.

Maybe just maybe I could persue my dreams without the GOV trying to run my life!

here goes

How old are you? 31

Where are you from? Originally from California but live in Houston now

What do you do? Director of IT

What’s your political history? None - always felt I was voting for the lesser of two evils

What brought you to Ron Paul?
I've always traveled the world extensively. The more I traveled the more I realized that things could be so much better here. So I never felt like voting for a corrupt politician. The straw that broke the camels back was when I married my wife a few months ago. She is from Europe (an EU member country). We started the paperwork to change her status here and in the process I felt really unappreciated by the federal government. They even flat out told us that if they "decide" to deny the request that she will be immediately deported from the country since her visa was nullified when we submitted our paperwork. I happen to recall that the primaries were coming up....so I started checking into the candidates. And here I am now. :-)

Glad to see so many here helping.

Alaskan for Paul

How old are you? 40 crap.
Where are you from? Valdez, Alaska
What do you do? own retail clothing store
What’s your political history? Youngest in family that was very active in Libertarian politics. Worked on all of Dick Randolph's campaigns, the first Libertarian to be elected to a statewide office and often wonder what a Shangri La Alaska would be if we had elected him governor. (For any Alaskans reading this you can thank Mr Randolph for the Permanant fund dividends and no state income tax from his time in Juneau. Jay Hamond stepped in and took credit when passage was inevitable). Went from hearing my dads rants after reading his John Birch Society books and thinking "no it can't be that way, politicians can't be that bad" to now being old enough to say "Wow,it is MUCH worse," and worried like hell for the future of my three kids.

What brought you to Ron Paul? I had read articles by and about him from a pretty young age. I got to interview him for the school paper when I was at Chico State and he treated me like I was from The NY Times. He was my first presidential vote in '88. Voted for anyone but Clinton or Bush since. Registered Republican now, we have closed primaries. Changing the Republican party (or picking up the pieces after it implodes if no change in current direction) seems easier to me than trying to create a new party although I am very libertarian. Sorry this is so wordy, I hate long posts. Finally, I wish my dad who died a couple years ago could see the video of thousands of screaming supporters of Dr Paul. He and I would have never believed there are so many who truely value freedom.
Ron Paul, Hope for America, the most perfect slogan ever.

Voted for Bush Jr the first time, then since Satan was not running in 2004, and therefore I couldn't vote for the lesser of the evils, I wrote in mickey mouse.

Known about Dr. Paul for nearly 25 years. Originally heard of him via the now defunct Spotlight newspaper. (Its called the American Free Press now, suggest you suscribe, you won't be dissapointed)

Hell yeah I'm on Social Security and Medicare, but I sure as hell wished I could have opted out 30 years ago. I can still work and support myself. I never trusted mortgages nor bankers.

I don't need SS, because I planned for not having it, and I am working my ass off to give all you young people out there the chance to get out of debt and drop SS. Of course, I am doing it for my 5 kids and 6 grandkids, too.

May God Bless our mission.

Occupation: In school for computer programming, though my eventual goal is international rock-stardom.

I don't really have a political history given my age, but I was raised to think republicans are evil, welfare is the greatest thing on earth, and I should vote for whomever seems the nicest and promises the most.

After all that I'm not sure how I ended up an absolute conservative, but I did. So many months ago when I went online to find out who I was voting for, the first candidate who's wiki I clicked on was Paul's, and lo and behold he just happened to stand for every ideal I had.
