Ron Paul supporters, who are you guys?

A similar thread was originally started by MashTheGas but I guess it was lost with the server crash. It lasted a few weeks with a few hundred responses.

Who are you guys?

How old are you?
Where are you from?
What do you do?
What’s your political history?
What brought you to Ron Paul?

Answer as much or as little as you want. It's great to see what an eclectic group supports Ron Paul.

What brought you to Ron Paul? - March 2007 when he said "I'm running"

Supporter Since 2007

Hey everyone,

I've been lurking around the Daily Paul for years but never thought to sign up until now.

Well, here's my info:

Age: 24
Hometown: Wailuku, HI
Occupation: Teacher/Musician
Political History: Small "l" libertarian
Hook: Mom saw him on TV when he first announced his '07-08 run. I was in college at the time and immediately became a supporter.

New voter.

17, will be 18 in August. I'm from Thomasville, North Carolina, which, sadly, appears to be a hive of people who vote for the guy that sounds the most "religious," never mind how they act.

Right now I'm a homeschooled student, hunting for a job, but soon officially volunteering with the RP campaign. I'm a Christian (Baptist), used to be a neocon. In '08, I thought Huckabee and Sarah Palin were just awesome. Needless to say, I've since changed my views. I am a proud Southerner, and many would label me a neo-Confederate, a label I wear with some pride.

I first encountered Ron Paul when my dad checked out "The Revolution" from the library. I read it, and agreed on almost everything except foreign policy; again, more learning convinced me otherwise.

I am 46, born in Chicago,

I am 46, born in Chicago, grew up in Ohio, lived in Virginia, Florida, North Carolina and Georgia. I am a Business Development Manager for an A/R Funding company. I have been involved in politics since 1983 and I drank the Repub kool-aid until 1997, when I discovered the Libertaritan Party, even though I stayed with the Republican Party and have never voted for any candidate that is not a Republican.

I had already formulated my political beliefs, it just took Ron Paul to put them together. I had chills when I started reading his books. I couldn't believe that there was someone out there that was actaully writing down my thoughts.

An Intelligent Idiot

Age: 28
From Wisconsin, I've lived all over there so I can't really give one place as my hometown.
Currently unemployed but when I do work it's usually a general labor position. I don't have a whole lot of interest in improving my own situation but I do like improving others'.
My political history... Well in 2008 I voted for the first time ever. I just wasn't interested enough the time before. In 2008 I backed McCain simply because I hadn't heard of Ron Paul at all and I didn't get interested until the general election and started finding out about the two who were in. I decided McCain was the way to go and tried to tell others that but now I realize that it was like I was arguing for Pepsi over Coke. They're both the same thing pretty much with minimal differences. So when Obama got in, I was upset with myself because I hadn't really gathered enough intel to be able to argue effectively for any candidate. So about January I started studying the candidates that were running in depth. I did it like I do in most things I study, by diving in head first and seeing what I can learn about the river first hand. I buried myself in youtube videos about the candidates, going from solid pieces about them to comical stuff from BadLipReading. I was sick of the wars by this point and so ruled out all those who were for them, and after making sure of some other things, I was finally left with Ron Paul. I solidly studied into everything he believed in and I am proud to say that I'm at least marginally effective at winning people over to him on issues and if I'm not sure of something I make sure to study it thoroughly so that if it comes up again I can take it on rather than let it go. It's the best an intelligent idiot can do.

What do you do? Bank Of America employee since '00

What’s your political history? Democrat convert

What brought you to Ron Paul? In '07 I decided to watch the GOP debate on CNN just to see what the 'other side' had to offer. To my surprise there was not only a republican candidate who I liked, but he was making more sense than any politician I had seen to date. After the primary season a high school friend I was re-acquainted with during the campaign and I drove 21 hours to MN to attend the Rally For The Republic...And the rest is history

... And you work for BofA?

Get a new job. B of A is the devil! Hello can you say Federal Reserve.

What good would that

What good would that accomplish? Should super market employees quit because their employers sell pink slime, should water authority employees quit because their employer adds fluoride to our water supply? Healthcare industry and Obama care? List goes on... I understand the concern, but at the same time it's a good company to work for and a good job. Just because I work for a bank doesn't mean I don't believe in sound currency, hell if/when the dollar collapses where would that leave the banking industry?

Dont quit.

seriously quit or get fired and be on unemployment thats really helping the unemployment rate NOT, keep the job. its not the employees that are wrong with the system. I have had wonderful service from the employees, I have never met one I did not like. no one should have to feel bad about there job because of corporations.

I applied for a teller job at Chase...applying made me ill but I really need a year round job as I live in a very small tourist town...One of the questions on the application was if I had donated to a presidential campaign in the last few years (weird question I think)...I know I scored well on the math portion..and one of my college majors is economics...I received an email back stating I wasn't chosen for an interview...Mind you I live in a very small town so the pool of prospective employees is small; especially ones with college degrees...It may sound paranoid but it makes me think they research who you support and reject your application if it is Ron Paul...Oh well really didnt want to work there anyway...

Who are you guys?

My name is Chuck Fuchser.
I am 58 years of age.
I grew up in Bellingham, WA, and Moved to Port Angeles, WA 34 years ago. My father was a contract logger. I grew up working in the woods, got into law enforcement in 1980, retired from the Clallam County Sheriff's Department in 2007.
Now I run a small business caring for people's fruit trees, pruning and spraying, etc.
I belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints (Mormons). I developed an early interest in the founding fathers and the Constitution of the United States as a result of conversations with my mother when I was in grade school. The Constitution is considered a sacred document by members of my faith.
30 years ago, I joined The John Birch Society as a result of reading None Dare Call It Conspiracy (by Gary Allen). There is no better way to learn about the greatness of our heritage, as Americans, and the forces that have combined against our freedoms and our Constitution, than by accessing the fantastic books and films available through the JBS. I was also fortunate to have attended over twenty summer camps which were used to educate 14-21 years of age youth about their freedom, and the need for their vigilance in the preservation of it.
The JBS publishes the voting records of the members of Congress, on Constitutional issues, and I have been able to follow Ron Paul's dedication to the Constitution for all of those years. Dr. Paul has no comparison in all of the Congress, for all of these years. He has proved his integrity, over and over, even when he had to be the only one in the entire Congress standing for the Constitution.
Several years ago, my son David, was assigned an essay for school. He was told to write about a politician that he could support. David was somewhat frustrated because he was not aware that there was anyone that he would want to support. He asked me for help. I provided him a list of several whom I supported, at that time. Sadly, none were from my own State of Washington. Ron Paul was at the top of the list, and David chose to write about him, because I described Dr. Paul's never-ending steadfast support for the Constitution. Several years later, 2007, David was working in Florida for the summer. He telephoned me one evening to tell me that he had just learned that Ron Paul was running for President. Further, he had just sent a financial contribution and expected me to send one, too! Since that time, we have both tried hard to convince people we meet to support Dr. Paul. Since 2007, "Ron Paul Revolution" has been painted on both sides of his car. My daughter, Valerie helped David make the stencil used to paint it. It has drawn a lot of looks and a lot of great conversations with like minded persons.
In 2008, David and his sister, Valerie, went to the Ron Paul march in Washington, DC, David and I went to the big celebration and kickoff for Campaign For Liberty, in Minneapolis. My wife, Shelley, and David and I were each seated as delegates for Ron Paul at the Spokane, WA State Convention.
This year, David and I are PCOs. Shelley, David and I are each Ron Paul delegates for the County Convention, Valerie is an alternate, and we all hope to attend the Tacoma, WA State Convention as delegates or Ron Paul. We hope to have a lot of friends there with us, as Ron Paul delegates, too!
Ron Paul has done more to preserve our liberty than any other person during these last three decades, and we all owe it to him and to our nation, and those who will come after us to support him. Sadly, he will not be a member of the House of Representatives any longer, and it is just as important that we find at least 218 like minded people across this country to fix the damage already done. The President can eliminate the unconstitutional cabinet level departments, but he cannot fix most of the problems. We must elect a House of Representatives willing to repeal the 17th Amendment, End the Fed, end all unconstitutional federal spending and programs, and accept responsibility to limit jurisdiction of the Supreme Court in matters where it does not belong, and coin real money.

45 y/o repub delegate from NC...

I'm a builder (flooring etc.). I see the apathy of America and the vanity of people voting for socialist candidates. Sick of the million plus deaths we caused overseas...sick of the blind march toward U.S. bankruptcy...sick of hearing brainwashed sheeple praise warmongering liars. I first picked up on Paul from the 4409 youtube channel (think that's right).
I signed waved at M.Beach S. Carolina, attended SC rally, mailed super brochures, become a county delegate, have a meetup group, shirts & pins, made signs, gave away 100 BS's, large sign on work van, BS on car, signs in yard and a few other places, 45,000 views on YTube channel...and that's about it!

I have recently been hearing alot about kony and how his tyrinacal ways are quite disturbing and i stop to think about how many people in this world are just as if not more evil than him. i then started a group. "Rise Against Tyranny" i am a huge Ron Paul supporter because i know where he stands on all the issues and like all of you i completely agree Ron paul is the only choice for president. in this group i have created i want to expose how many dictators and the tyranny that actually goes on. with soooo many people in this kony movement it could only help our cause to recruit them to our side. If you have a facebook please help me in preparing an organization to end tyranny and get as many supporters possible! Please join and share!

I am a 19 years old student

I am a 19 years old student of economics from Caracas-Venezuela, one of the most socialist countries in the world. I am both Venezuelan and Peruvian.

I have been interested in politics since I was 13-14 years old. My father, who influenced me the most back then thought of himself as a libertarian, but he is actually a liberal.

When I was 15-16 I was a neo-liberal, in favor of free trade but didn't know what to think about the proper role of government. Maybe that was the reason why I wasn't particularly enthusiast about any political figure in the world.

My Brother, who is also an economics student, is in the midway between an anarchist and a minarchist. I have always discussed with him about politics and economics, so he also had some influence in my way of thinking.

When I started studying economics I realized the non-sense that was Keynesian economics, and started to favor the Austrian School of Economics ( because of the discussions with my brother). Last year I attended the Ludwig von Mises Institute Mises University 2011, and liked it a lot, although I didn't became an anarquist.

In Venezuela I have only voted once, actually last month for Maria Corina Machado in the opposition primaries. She was the only fiscal conservative in the race, but as you may figure, the political spectrum in Venezuela is way to the left so it isn't like she wants to make government much smaller.

I have been following Ron Paul and the Daily Paul since November of last year. This is the first time I have actually felt that there's a politician telling the truth out there who knows what to do about the issues. I really envy you americans! I wish we had a Ron Paul here in Venezuela.

Hello Patriots

I have been reading these forums for 6 months or so. I am a Active Duty Marine and First generation American. My grandfathers both traveled from Spain to Cuba to make something of themselves. They did just that, becoming owners of multiple business. That was all taken away from them when Castro took power. After applying to leave Cuba both my grandfathers were imprisoned and interrogated 13 months for being anti-castro. Both their wives and children were blacklisted and 13 months of struggle for food and shelter followed. After their release they were allowed travel out of Cuba. They applied for citizenship and eventually made it to South Florida and started all over.

I have not engaged in the political process much. Mainly due to being either in Iraq or Afghanistan during every election cycle since I enlisted in 2003. Until recently I didn't have the capability to follow and unfortunately I wasn't interested. Like most people I didn't realize there was someone out there that I wanted to vote for.

That changed by chance. I got up one cold Virginia Saturday morning to go get an oil change. After turning over my keys I headed to the waiting area and on Fox I saw The Judge. My jaw dropped when I heard what he was talking about. I was in shock "is this really fox" I asked the gentlemen sitting next to me. He replied "This is Freedom Watch" rather enthusiastically. On the program this wonderful American was talking about civil liberties, taxation, the founders, police state, nanny state, overseas adventurism and a number of important topics. Before the program ended my oil change was finished but I decided to finish watching the program before I left. I went directly home and googled Ron Paul and spent the rest of the weekend researching. I also became an avid watcher of The Judge.

Over the next few months I talked to many people. I had a very difficult time dealing with the apathy of others. It wasn't easy but slowly over time I got discussions going with people who before didn't care. Most of those I talked to ended up becoming Paul supporters.

For those that are disappointed with the results thus far don't fret for we have already won. The message has hit the mainstream steadily people like myself are waking up and becoming aware. Once aware there is no going back. Sorry for the length thanks for reading and keep up the fight!

I've pretty much been an independent my whole life. I have always been a fiscal conservative though. I stumbled upon some YouTube videos of the good doctor in mid 2011 and found myself agreeing with everything he said. The rest is history.

My favorite quote: “Ideas are very important to the shaping of society. In fact, they are more powerful than bombings or armies or guns. And this is because ideas are capable of spreading without limit. They are behind all the choices we make. They can transform the world in a way that governments and armies cannot. Fighting for liberty with ideas makes more sense to me than fighting with guns or politics or political power. With ideas, we can make real change that lasts.”
