Technical comment about post I made.

I made this post ...

http://www.dailypaul.com/334394/jew-neutrality-regulations

There is a spam bot comment saying it was not published. If the spam bot stopped the publish then I want to let you know it was not spam.

If someone deliberately stopped its publication based on editorial content then that would be OK. I was purposely going for over the top.

If someone from the FCC Net Oversight board stopped its publication then it is game over.

This seems odd

I created a post and it did not show up in the active topics.
http://www.dailypaul.com/333504/jfk-to-911-everything-is-a-r...

Am I going to have to do a self bump to bring it up?
I think people should see it.

Edit: I changed the category from hidden knowledge and it showed up.

Thank you.
Taken care of.

I'm sure you're

really busy, especially given some new plan for the DP in the works. But if you have a moment, I'd appreciate if you could just tell me what I'm doing wrong so I can fix it. As explained in the comment below...

for some reason the title of a post won't allow me to type either an "end parenthesis" or equal sign (=). As you can see, it's not a matter of there being too many characters. (I tried shortening it, but it still comes out wrong.) I can't bear the thought of a nonsensical-looking title remaining for posterity: "To conflate" 2 versions of a story (1 true 1 not "to lie."

Thank you.

Hi M

I'm going to try a few things, don't be alarmed if you see the title change a few times if I cannot get it to work right for some reason. I also have no idea why this is happening, I'm just going to try editing and see what I can do. Never mind me and the potential changing title until I can (hopefully) figure it out.

Ha, ha

You and jon responded simultaneously - jon to my original query and you to this update. He gave a couple suggestions. If you're busy tonight, let me know and I'll try again. Otherwise, I'll just let you do your thing. :) Either way, thanking you in advance.

My post title doesn't show what I typed

Hello, hoping you can tell me what I'm doing wrong.

I typed the *first title* below, but it came out wrong, without an end parenthesis, for one. I thought maybe I needed to shorten it, but nothing seems to work.

1) "To conflate" two versions of a story (one true, one not) = euphemism for "to lie."

2) "To conflate" 2 versions of a story (1 true 1 not) = euphemism for "to lie."

3) "To conflate" 2 versions of a story (1 true 1 not) = "to lie."

How it seems to appear now: "To conflate" 2 versions of a story (1 true 1 not "to lie."

The title checker is overzealous

Too many non-letters in a row, which is kind of a dumb restriction, yes. Try saying "equals" or "is =" instead of "=".

"You underestimate the character of man." | "So be off now, and set about it." | Up for a game?

Thank you.

Title checker overzealous? Well, aren't we all sometimes. :)

How does one show an image

in a comment or post? All I can do is show a link to it, but I see others doing it all the time. Obviosly I am missing something.

Is the site getting ready to crash?

Trying to view anything on DP today has been worse than dial-up ever was! Downloads are taking over 2 minutes and other times I get an "off line" message. Normally I would think it's my computer but, anywhere else I go it's been quick and easy.

For Jon > DP Trouble-Shooting

Hi Jon,
I've spent several hours trying to figure out why some DPers cannot see comment colors in IE (I used 10), Win 7. Even with scripting enabled, it appears like Firefox with javascript disabled (pale blue). Everything else works fine (including javascript elements, videos); altho' site 'down' issues and slow loading still occurring in ie and ff. Can access in 3-5 refreshs.

Can YOU see colored comments in ie? Or is this a css/html issue with ie?
(doesn't matter if in post, profile, or permalink; cached cleared, haven't located any coding issue yet...used to be one in ie7 with background colors...allegedly fixed in ie8; compatibility view did not engage as if needed in ie10. IE keeps adding security elements to prevent/over-ride hacks by disabling 'old' normal functions. Any ideas what to re-engage? What ie browser settings to use? CAN YOU CODE AN OVER-RIDE SO COLORED COMMENTS APPEAR IN IE WIN 7?) Other ideas?

Thanks.

Can't comment on *old* thread?

Hi, guys -

Nothing crucial, but when I mentioned a book (Target Switzerland by Stephen Halbrook) in a comment the other day it duly showed up in the book bar with a link to my comment and to another thread recommending the same book:

http://www.dailypaul.com/25041/must-read?bt=1

that had been sitting there with (apparently) zero upvotes since January 12, 2008 .

I upvoted it OK, but noticed that there was no "write a comment" option displayed -
is there some limit/restriction on commenting on old threads?

jrd3820's picture

Hmm

Well the reason it had no votes was because the voting system wasn't in place until early 2011 so it has probably been forgotten about since '08 or '09 ish.

As far as commenting on really old threads. Sometimes older threads get brought back up in the mix somehow and if they are particularly divisive or not relevant any more or something like that sometimes a mod will close the comments sections so as to not rehash old arguments, or so people don't wast time commenting on a news story that is a few years old.

Neither seems to be the case with the thread you mentioned so I changed the comment settings and you should be able to comment on it now. I don't really know why it was closed off earlier, but for now it should work.

Wow... that was quick!

Thanks for fixing that, and for the explanation!

I've updated my post twice and both times it hasn't shown

as being updated. http://www.dailypaul.com/323741/request-for-prayers-from-the... Am I doing something wrong?

Hi Nonna

December 30th: HE MADE IT ON TO THE TRANSPLANT LIST TODAY!!!!!!
He's been hospitalized since Christmas Eve and is being released from the hospital soon (I think, today). As soon as a donor match is found, my grandson will receive the gift of life. Thank you, Daily Paul, for your love and prayers!

Is that the update? It shows up for me just fine. I didn't even have to check revisions like I did last time when something didn't work out well.

I'm so happy to hear that he is on the transplant list. Godspeed!

As far as the update, unless there was more or something else, all looks fine to me.

Thanks, jrd.

Shouldn't "Update" show up in red, similar to being a new post to alert the community that the post was updated? Other updated posts do.

Smudge Pot told me he's not

Smudge Pot told me he's not able to log in anymore. I don't know if its a problem with the DP, or password, or what. Anyway, I guess that's why he's not been on lately.

Oh that is great news!

Ok, well not the part about him not logging in, that is sad, but I have wondered where he has been and am glad he is ok and that it is just technical difficulties. However without more info on what is happening I can't help much and even then I probably won't be able to help much because I'm not really tech advanced and I don't know why the dailypaul does the things it does sometimes.

If you are able to talk to him again soon, would you mind having him send an email here with more information on what is happening when he tries to login?

Thanks Stonewall.
