Premium Subscription - please kill the ads. :)

Hi Michael,

I resumed my premium subscription yesterday but I'm still seeing ads today. Could you please add me to your (way too long) to-do list? I paid via PayPay. It's a new email address, but I did put a note in along with the payment.

Thanks!

Yeah, that's broken. Sorry about that.

I upgraded your account manually. Is it fixed now?

Yes, thanks. :)

I wish I could give more.

Why do I see a post

in the active forum topics dated today when I know I saw it yesterday? And the replies are dated yesterday. My topic has more upvotes and was generated today but does not appear. And now move another post of mine out of the DP original section. CLASSY!

Sometimes in the morning, I go through and look at some of the posts that were put up in the wee hours, and never got a chance to be seen, and I just bring the date to the current time for visibility.

I don't know exactly what post you're talking about, but that's probably what happened.

And I don't know exactly which post of yours your taking about, but that's the reason.

The Daily Paul could be better organized, I agree. It's kind of like a big salad. From time to time I'll spruce up the leaves like that.

See? Well, there ya go.

PAF's friend can't log onto DP with her password, either! Now, just imagine how many noobs (who don't even know any of us personally to let us know they cannot log on) are being left out in the cold.

Have him or her email me

As much as I love the Daily Paul, this is not how I want to be spending my life, no offense to you, PAF, or his or her friend's as the case may be.

But it is my responsibility for now, so I will discharge that responsibility.

Whenever I see you Nonna, I think of Strega Nona.

Michael, a few things.

Garan made a great suggestion in the post below.

I have a friend who just signed up, is not computer savvy and asked if I could relay the message. Her account password is not working. Gloria's user id on the DP is PAGLO. Can you assist Gloria?

Michael, do you have a large Daily Paul poster that I can display at our event? If you do, let me know how much, shipping, etc. This is to help advertise Daily Paul.

PAF, you're a dear. I'll do this tomorrow

I don't have a sign or anything, but I appreciate it. It is all good. Don't worry about it.

It would be nice to have a search for users/friends.

I was looking for user "Freedom and Compromise" (someone I chatted with).

Coming to a fresh load of DP, I was at a loss.
Tried DP search, google search, the DP faq.

Found someone on chat who was able to find a post with the user, yet they had to do it manually.

So, I am making this feature request.

Thanks.

Man, I wish I had a feature request department!

Here try this:

To find someone by username:

Replace the last word with the username you're looking for. I checked for you, but no dice:

(Updated) Jon-Tech Issues / Michael-Protocol Issue

Hi Jon,

1. Been having loading/time-out issues for a week. They are sporadic, but at times very bad. May cause double-posts.

2. All of a sudden half the 'Topics' and 'Comments' on right side of "Most Viewed Posts" page, http://www.dailypaul.com/, are blue...not in a row but throughout. What does 'blue' mean?

3. Page alignment is off. Hmmm, how to explain.
Ex: click a comment permalink and it doesn't line up with comment
Ex: click a post link and page may not be populated at top but various places downward
Ex: after posting a comment, page doesn't go to that comment 50% of time
Ex: click comment replies in profile and no longer goes to that comment

3b. clicking newbie links in their profile goes directly to error page, re-directs and times out, or re-directs to error page

Mozilla Firefox

Thanks.

[EDIT: THE MOST pages' 'links' don't change color after clicking like throughout rest of website even tho' links/posts previously clicked/viewed elsewhere. Can you please change viewed links color there, as well? Thanks.]

-------------

Hi Michael,

You are very insightful and do a wonderful job.
Might you consider a new protocol where down-votes are limited? Say, maybe to '-5'? It is not only very scary and crushing to newbies and females, but to the fellas who have been here for years, too. Is -7 to -27 or more really necessary? I assure you they get it. I think the gladiator-like killings affect a lot of the readers as well as the posters. I'm all for more love, joy, peace, and serenity. Anything you can do would be appreciated. Thank you.

[Edit: Lots of newbies are upset they are being massacred with down-votes on their first posts. Can you change their user id color and ask oldies to show more compassion? Just idea. Thanks.]

:

1. noted
2. It sounds like a css sheet didn't load. But they do on firefox for me. Did you add something that turns off features, like css or javascript?
3. That is a known issue. It has to do with other things on the page that take time to load which trigger re-layouts, thus making the initial scroll calculation invalid. A general solution is being considered, but has not been applied yet. I'd rather just switch them all to the actual permalink. Whatever you're referencing here isn't a permalink, as nothing needs to scroll for the permalink.
3b. Example link?
EDIT. No, those pages change frequently enough to not merit "visited" status.

Was my friend and new DP member deep sixed?

Locasta did do a short intro, as requested http://www.dailypaul.com/323281/introductions%3Fpage%3D5%26f... but, has not been able to log in with password. Please look into it. I know Locasta would be an asset to our community.

Hi Nonna

I just checked Locasta's account. It is active, and definitely not deep sixed. If s/he is having a hard time logging in that is above and beyond me and hopefully someone else with more knowledge on that can help you and or Locasta to figure that out. But as far as being 'deep sixed' nope, account is active and once S/he can figure out the password or whatever issue it is stopping him or her from logging in Locasta should be able to post away.

Thanks Chris. The password isn't working.

Locasta will try to log in again in a couple of days. She did request a new password when the not so old one didn't work but, didn't get any response. Going to try with the original password when she has time.

I thought it might be part of the glitches Michael was posting about.

Hello Michael! Newbie here,

Hello Michael! Newbie here, thanks for having me!
I was thinking a history category would be nice for the forums.
What are your thoughts?
Thanks!

For some reason, I can't show an amazon link.

I'll try it again here, and we'll see:
"Animal, Vegetable, Miracle: A Year of Food Life" By Barbara Kingsolver
http://www.amazon.com/Animal-Vegetable-Miracle-Year-Food/dp/...

See? I'm looking at the link I just put below the book title, but when I hit "Save" it disappears. This is the second time this has happened recently. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, if anything. Here's where I was trying to put it.

M, I see the link just fine.

Do you still not see it? I see it both right there, above, and in your other comment on the Walmart Ice Cream Sandwich thread. Seems to be working fine.

Can you see it here?
http://www.amazon.com/Animal-Vegetable-Miracle-Year-Food/dp/...

I still don't see it. Anywhere.

Either you must have x-ray vision...
I must have some visual impairment, namely, amazonyopia... or
as I expected would happen sooner or later, I've crossed over: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NzlG28B-R8Y

Well, thanks for checking. I don't get it, but I'm glad to know that the links appear for others. Hmmm. Let me test something else. I just clicked on the comments below the Book Talk blurbs to go to those posts/comments, that is, where those books would have been originally linked. Nope. I can't see those links either. But... I went to the jam session and can see you-tube links okay.

I'm out of my element to try to understand such a phenomenon, unless... maybe links to Amazon recommendations only appear to those who did not a few years ago survey their wall-to-wall bookcased homes and declare a no if's, and's, or but's book-buying moratorium. :)

might you have an ad blocker on?

?

"You underestimate the character of man." | "So be off now, and set about it." | Up for a game?

I figured this was the same "ad blocker" issue,

that is, I figured that the Amazon link I posted in a comment today for the book "Feelings Buried Alive Never Die" really was there, even though I personally couldn't see it. And maybe it is! But...

...this time (unlike the previous case with Animal, Vegetable, Miracle), I also don't see the book in "Book Talk." So that's what makes me wonder if it actually did get listed in the comment.

Well, I was curious. But fagettaboutit. It seems you have more pressing things to tend to. Good luck with that password issue.

hrm

sometimes the link scanner misses an amazon link, yes. Definitely if it scans your comment, then you add the link later, but possibly also because it's at the end, with a period after? I don't know in this case.

"You underestimate the character of man." | "So be off now, and set about it." | Up for a game?

The title has miraculously appeared in Book Talk. :)

Thanks. I came back intending to delete the (invisible) link I had here, so that this Mod Suggestion Box reference to the book wouldn't appear in Book Talk - then realized I can't any longer. Well, feel free to drop this Book Talk reference if you think it's appropriate.
