Mod Suggestion Box

(Assuming the FAQ didn't help)

Comment here to notify mods
despite popular opinion, they are not omniscient,
and the site owner needn't be contacted about everything.
Joη likes suggestions along the lines of "I wish the site could    ?   ."
Note: this is not the "front page x" or "please post x" or "let's keep arguing unrelated subject x" box.
The "mod" in the post title stands for either "modification" or "moderator".

Unfortunately not

This is still pretty low tech, relatively speaking.

Best not to compose long works in this interface anyway, as they can get lost to the wind. If you're working on something serious, do it in Word or something, in case the power goes out, or there is a server glitch or something.

Save data?

This might not be technically feasible, but I think users might like to have a download link in their profile that allowed them to save all their posts and comments on one file. It would be useful if someone wanted to do some hardcore editing and sifting for a book or extended article, etc. The structure of the data might make that too difficult, in which case there is always the long route of going through the relevant comments. The sifting is inevitable anyway, but the back up and storing would be convenient.

Whatever happened to "Anderson Cooper is 100% CIA"

I did some research about Anderson Cooper's affiliation and posted it here recently. I'm curious as to what happened to it. If it isn't suitable for posting, I'd at least like to have a copy of it, please.

Don't know anything about it...

When did you post it? Was it a comment or a thread?

Mods around here don't usually delete things, we just unpublish them, so we still have a record. That being said, we don't have any record of such a thread or comment on your account.

Frankly I don't like that kind of a title, making an assertion as if it were fact, but that is beside the point here.

Are you sure you posted it here?

- - - Oh, ok. Hold on. - - -

It was a comment, posted on emalvini's Anderson Cooper Cunnilingus thread, which I took down because. Because I don't give a shit about Anderson Cooper talking about Cunnilingus, and that is just a degradation of the Daily Paul.

Here is your comment:

I'm not a big conspiracy guy, BUT. Anderson Cooper admits being tied to the CIA right from the beginning.

Famous for getting caught faking interviews in foreign countries, with fake explosions and sirens wailing in the background, while safe and warm in the green screen studio in New York. (Google Anderson and his disappearing nose plus his CIA pal Charles Jaco)

After high school, before "two summers as an intern at the Central Intelligence Agency", he vanished for several months, supposedly, in Kenya where he was invisibly hospitalized after contracting malaria....Yeah. Describing the experience, Cooper wrote "Africa was a place to forget and be forgotten in. Hmm. He probably doesn't want to talk about it. Somebody should swab the guy to see if he has really had malaria.

Following this, he spent a year in Hanoi, Vietnam studying Vietnamese. That's right. Eleven years after the fall of Saigon, Anderson decides he has always wanted to learn Vietnamese, so he goes to Vietnam and lives with the Communists, so he can learn how to speak...Vietnamese.

Shortly thereafter Anderson enters Myanmar with an admittedly forged press pass. (A "friend" helped him), etc., etc.,...

The whole mess of people at CNN are CIA.
Remember this?

I don't care about A. Cooper's personal life. Period.

Sorry if you didn't like the title. I'm not a big fan of the Accusation Title either, except I've done research into the background of some of these media people. Anderson Cooper has publicly admitted it.

I think a significant affiliation with the CIA disqualifies someone as a trustworthy news source, in light of it (the CIA) being the rendition, torture, murder branch of a string of administrations sworn to dominate the world, any way it can.

Forgive me if you're aware of this.
The following 1976 quote is by Senator Frank Church from Wikipedia:
"The CIA currently maintains a network of several hundred foreign individuals around the world who provide intelligence for the CIA and at times attempt to influence opinion through the use of covert propaganda. These individuals provide the CIA with direct access to a large number of newspapers and periodicals, scores of press services and news agencies, radio and television stations, commercial book publishers, and other foreign media outlets."

Church argued that misinforming the world cost American taxpayers an estimated $265 million a year.[22]----------------------------
Church Committee investigations[edit]
Further details of Operation Mockingbird were revealed as a result of the Senator Frank Church investigations (Select Committee to Study Governmental Operations with Respect to Intelligence Activities) in 1975.

I created a post

This one:

I think it had 750,000 likes in the headline at the time when I originally posted it, then I guess one of the mods took the post over and kept updating the like count. I hadn't been able to post since those count updates began to the original post up to today or I did something wrong I am not aware of. This is also the second time I put this issue in the mod box, the first one was deleted. Is this the proper venue for this problem?

I think the mods had enough of the duck dynasty controversy

and your post appeared to be a source of it.

That passed, your can post again.

Thank you for the forum

and allowing me to express my input.

Hi, please can you embed this vid?

Is there a way to do it automatically? Have tried the img src="url" / etc but doesn't work. Thanks, Will

Obedience to God is resistance to tyrants.

On the states page, where the news/ activities of each state can

be put, there is no option for Washington DC. Fine, DC is not a state, but there are plenty of interesting and important things going on in DC people might be interested in knowing about that aren't necessarily on the front page. There is the annual March for Life, which is very responsibly carried out to mark the US Supreme Court decision of Roe v. Wade, and the Stop Watching.us rally and Larry Klaymans rally. This is not a criticism, but an observation. Doe v. Bolton was handed down the same day as Roe V. Wade, but, for some reason, doesn't receive nearly the attention or publicity. The abortion issued should have stayed in Texas, the US Supreme Court had no jurisdiction over it. There is no mention of healthcare in the Constitution, so it is a states right, or 10th Amendment issue. The states page is available to the left of the search bar.

For some reason, we're expected to know every law that exists in America & in our state so we don't break it. We're supposed to know this when we're 18. There's no litmus test for them, as in the 10 commandments or rhyme or reason. C.U.R.E.

District of Colombia is an option in the states vocabulary

and it will appear on the states page, below the map, if one posts content with that tag. It does not highlight on the map itself, no.

Whoever posted this:

Gary North Alex Jones gay lovers - http://www.dailypaul.com/308564/gary-north-alex-jones-gay-lo...

probably needs to be banned or removed from the system or something.

~wobbles but doesn't fall down~

I know it didn't receive much positive attention...

edit: so I just heard that the Obamacare site crashed after 2 million hits. Maybe I'll do a 'which is better, ACA or BTC?' post...

Tweeting occasionally as himself @cudnoski on the twitter.

I really don't care about you Mod's

I respect what the site has done so far. But any site that becomes important will be infiltrated. Even the mods if they are not careful.

The good news is sites are popping up faster than 'infiltrators'.

The message of Ron is about an idea. And it isn't about to die.

DP is a target for trolls and was since it started. But they can't stop the idea that Paul sent to the people. Especially now when all of his predictions are coming true.

God Bless Granger, Goldman, and Lawmanjed

Truth is something you are going to respect in your lifetime I think. And I wish you all well.

The snow looks great! Thanks mods/Mr. Nytrom. It's been a great year hear at the DP. Owe it all to you guys.

How does one know who's friend list he is on @ DailyPaul?

""A Tramp Abroad," by Mark Twain.

Foes become known when dueling.

How do I see friends that selected me? And should I need a second?

your friends page should now have a link to that info

should now show a link that only you can access:

I agree with the snowflake issue...

It's a nice touch, but I thought I was having a hypoglycemic episode.

Can I somehow

disable the falling snowflakes?

Ron Paul Was Right

bigmikedude's picture

You can turn the snow on or off by:

1. Going to "My Account"
2. Click the "Edit" Tab
3. Checking or Un-checking the box labeled "Holiday FX"
4. Click "Save" at the bottom

Or just click Here. And follow steps 3 and 4.

Could something like a post by State feature get extended to

other countries too. I realize this suggestion might be outside the scope of restoring constitutional government to the united States of America, but there are friends of liberty abroad that may benefit from a similar feature.

Since I am unable to respond to the poster: Canada

funny you should mention this.. I thought about making a top post about why I love to up vote. Decided maybe to do a little research before I do that.. I found this very interesting thread on inbound.org about moderators voting http://www.inbound.org/discussion/view/yes-us-moderators-can...

Of course it made me wonder.. do DP mods do this? Is this why voting is stealth on DP?

I just posted recently that one of the things that hurts me on DP is reading other posters lament, "Why the downvote?", and never get any answer.

I wish that voting was enabled with a comment.. It's apparent to me that there are people who come on DP to do nothing but downvote, which marginalizes and renders votes inaffective as there's nothing you can do about it but ignor the downvotes as just mean-spiteful- hatful cowardly opportunists (hows that for labels?) :D

Coming to DP and finding threads and posts that kneejerk me to up-vote is a good day on DP.

Disable upvoting your own stuff

Disable upvoting your own stuff, or have the system automatically upvote anything you create. (How it works on reddit. A site that knows a thing or two about upvotes)

Public upvote/downvote

Make comment upvote/downvote usernames public. Not retroactively though, those were made privately. The user may not have made the same consideration at the time thinking the action was public.

Please don't use the word fuck around here

Especially not in titles. There is an etiquette to this place that is different from others on the internet.

For more information, see:

Daily Paul House Rules and Posting Guidelines

I changed your title and republished your thread.

Spelled correctly or cosmetically altered is not welcome in titles.

Philosophy summary

There is a lot of great information on this site, but sometimes its hard to search. Makes me think if there should be a philosophy summary page somewhere with "best of" clips of Ron Paul, Peter Schiff, Stefan Molyneux, Lew Rockwell, Judge Nap, and info about our philosophy of liberty and Austrian economics. Just a thought.

"It’s not pessimistic, brother, because this is the blues. We are blues people. The blues aren’t pessimistic. We’re prisoners of hope but we tell the truth and the truth is dark. That’s different." ~CW

Philosophy Category

When posting a philosophical post, one does not have a good choice of category (in many cases) - politics/general or activism has been the fallback.

IMO, practical philosophy is an important part of this movement - probably the most important. Philosophy rules the world. How many people follow a Christian or Muslim philosophy?

If philosophy stays the same, change is never realized.

Can a philosophy category be added? (It's not quite as innovative as i-glasses, but probably more important)

It would be cool to see a section on the front page where members could pay to have a thread featured for an allotted period of time, in the same format as the regular front page.

It could operate much like the ad function. Perhaps you designate in the space beneath the regular up voted posts, titled "Paid User Content Section," of up to 5 or 10 posts. Users could then purchase one post in that area and be guaranteed it visible for up to one week. Charge say, $30-50.

The idea being that the majority of users likely treat the DP as a newspaper. Skimming the titles, watching the videos on the front page, not going much deeper into the forums where important info may lay.

Priced much less than ad's, but more than enough to keep people from posting frivolous things. It would be an automatic filter for what people really believe is very serious and in need of attention.

DP could reserve the right to deny anything offensive to the house rules.

It could easily generate a little bit more sustained revenue and be very helpful. I know I would use a feature like this.
