Mod Suggestion Box

Comment here to notify mods
despite popular opinion, they are not omniscient,
and the site owner needn't be contacted about everything.
Joη likes suggestions along the lines of "I wish the site could    ?   ."
Note: this is not the "front page x" or "please post x" or "let's keep arguing unrelated subject x" box.
The "mod" in the post title stands for either "modification" or "moderator".

Signature at bottom of comments

Yesterday I used the signature option for the first time. After doing so, the comments displayed my signature, but after double checking other comments I made today, one doesn't display the signature. No problem, maybe it's just a temporary glitch so I'll let you know if it happens again. Thank you.

using a US issued debit card that has a foreign billing address.

But the system doesn't seem to be able to accommodate foreign
addresses. Is there some way around this that I'm missing?

to many of his replies. Too many to count at this point. I don't know if this falls into your "self-promoting rule" or if it would be considered a grey area like maybe your "signature". Regardless, the intent is clear and it's annoying as hell, at least to me.

Meh, maybe I'm just getting old and cranky.

BTW - I've tried contacting other posters(new members) directly in the past(POLITELY), but I've come to realize that some here don't take criticism well and I'll most likely be wasting my time.

I don't think he's going to stop - lol. As I said before, I think it falls into that "gray area". Seems like a good guy, - just annoying.

Edited to add that now I'm wondering if I was up-voted 3 times for bringing this to attention or calling myself a whiney bitch - LOL.

I read his reply twice. Twice before I posted and a third time just now. I must not be understanding correctly then??? His last sentence states:
"However, I want to retain my privilege to participate at DP, so please let me know if I'm misunderstanding the rules against spam."

What I got from his entire comment was that his linking of his original thread did NOT violate the spam rule because the topic was indeed related, and thus he WILL continue linking. Yet, he also goes on to state that he wants to remain a member here and in case he is misunderstanding the rule, to let him know.

To my understanding as well, I have to agree with him in that he is not breaking the rule. Which is why I mentioned that maybe it was a grey area. What am I missing here Jon?

He has recently stopped linking his original thread on his comments, but then again, they weren't related to the article in question. So at least "for the moment", the issue seems to have been addressed and I thank you for looking in to it.

I bring this to light because it was front paged. Does the DP really want to be associated with sensationalism that is not entirely factual? Specially considering that the liberty movement is starting to pick up steam?

This same person down-voted everyone that had made an intelligent comment. It is the one who seems to have missed the entire point of the post and writes nonsense.

This guy is cut and pasting stuff from Wikipedia that is totally unrelated to my post. Just garbage words. Is this a paid troll? I have not seen it as bad as this before. It feels like dealing with an immature 5 year old mind.

The mods are not the thought police

The internet, and the DP is a place for healthy debate and the exchange of ideas. It is through that exchange of ideas that the truth emerges.

I assume we're all adults here. If you don't like a topic, or how that topic is expressed, you can express your opinion on that thread, and / or not participate in the discussion.

There is a clear disclaimer on the the site that the opinions expressed here are those of the poster, not of anyone else. So don't worry about what is or isn't good for "our" reputation.

Anyway, we've already been smeared with every name in the book. They're always going to make fun of us. So you can wring your hands and stress yourself out about it, or you can just ignore it.

The Daily Paul was heavily censored during the presidential election campaigns. We had a nice echo chamber here for a while. I think it is better from an educational and growth standpoint, to have a variety of opinions, instead of just one.

I thought that this site being your property, you wouldn't appreciate topics named "Jewish Destruction of Western Culture" and "Ernst Zundel Warns The Jews About Doing To America What They Did To Germany" casting a bad light on your site.

In the future I will refrain from attempting to look out for the reputation of the DailyPaul, if it doesn't bother you, I guess it shouldn't bother me.

Also, by use of the word "our" I was not implying ownership, I was implying that I am one of the many regular posters here and the reputation of the website extended to all of those who participate in its use.

P.S. May I ask why one of my comments in the mod suggestion box, pointing out the thread "Ernst Zundel Warns The Jews About Doing To America What They Did To Germany" was deleted?

Just curious, did you contact YouTube as well about taking them down?

In your opinion, does the fact that those videos appear on YouTube hurt YouTube's reputation, or the reputation of all of those who use YouTube?

I don't think so.

The DP is going through a transition, from one that was heavily censored during the election cycles to one that is much less so.

In answer to your last question, I unpublished your third comment here because I viewed it to be redundant. It was the same as the other two, but these two have replies.

I did not contact youtube because I don't care about youtube's reputation, nor was I taking issue with the videos.

I thought titles of these posts reflected badly on the DailyPaul, and that as the owner of this site you would like to know if there was something that could possibly reflect badly on your property.

Many posts had been removed in the past, or OPs were asked to change their titles, I wasn't aware this policy had changed until now.

I thought surely the moderators wouldn't be alright with a title that said "Blacks are lazy" or "Mexicans take all the jobs", so I thought how would any other form of bigotry be any different.

But as I said previously, if it does not concern you, then it should not concern me.

Sorry for the bother, I will not use the Mod Suggestion Box to report things like this in the future.

Problem replying to comments

When I go to the list of replies in my account info, and click on a reply to a comment in my post "Can unalienable rights exist in a free market", I end up at the beginning of my post instead of the comment I wanted to respond to. This is a problem because there's so many comments it's difficult to find the one I want to respond to. Thanks for your attention to this matter.
