Inappropriate

We don't need to perpetuate, and link to a bunch of anti-Ron Paul flame bait here. It isn't a productive use of time or resources for this community.

That's what gives.

To be mean is never excusable, but there is some merit in knowing that one is; the most irreparable of vices is to do evil out of stupidity. - C.B.

Regrding an UNpublished posting.

Michael, I posted this message and got an unpubliched memo...and I didn't understand it all so I posted the message again with a new Subject, and it also got unpublished.

VOte UP Comments and down...

Sometimes there are some GREAT comments that get stuffed into a NON frontpage comment that SHOULD STAY.

I think it would be great to have a vote up/down comment mod put in place so we can REMOVE the b.s. as a community and RAISE UP the comments that NEED/SHOULD be seen.

Tuesday 6 March - Saturday 10 March 2012: The County Conventions meet over several days to choose 12 of 29 of Wyoming's delegates to the Republican National Convention. Approximately 980 (?) County precinct committeemen and women, who were elected in Wyoming's 17 August 2010 (biennial) primary election, are eligible to vote for the National Convention Delegates and Alternates at the County Conventions.

Wyoming has 23 counties that are grouped into 12 Delegate-Districts. In each Delegate-District, except Laramie, counties are paired: one county selects a delegate while the other selects an alternate. The counties swap positions after each Presidential election.
Laramie, the county that cast the most votes of any county for the Republican candidate for Congress in the general election immediately preceding the National Convention selects both a Delegate and an Alternate. Laramie County cast the most votes of any county, 19,649 of out 131,661, for Congressman Cynthia Marie Lummis in the 2010 midterm election.
The arrangement for 2012 Delegate / Alternate Districts are:
Natrona / Albany
Carbon / Sweetwater
Lincoln / Uinta
Sublette Platte / Teton
Park / Fremont
Washakie / Hot Springs
Big Horn / Sheridan Platte
Johnson / Campbell
Weston / Crook
Niobrara / Converse
Platte / Goshen
Laramie selects both a delegate and an alternate.
There is no formal system applied in the County Convention to relate the presidential preference of the Convention participants to the choice of either the county's delegates to the State Convention or the delegate(s) to the National Convention the County Convention is helping to choose. The participants at each County Convention alone determine if presidential preference is to be a factor in such choices and, if so, how it is to be applied. All delegates are officially unbound.

State Party by-laws require that, before the County convention votes are taken, each would-be delegate or alternate must inform the convention of which presidential candidate, if any, they would cast their vote for at the national convention unless released from that pledge by the Presidential candidate.

It says:

Livecage.com will donate to the Revolution PAC $10 for the first 500 users who sign up and upload one or more videos to sell a product on livecage.com

And:

LiveCage.com will also donate 25% of the monthly BuyNow fee ($9.95/month for unlimited product sells) for all Active Ron Paul users accounts, after the 30 day free trial until election day on November 2012 up to $25,000.

Sorry Free Voice, to my knowledge, most often, Daily Paul does not support the droves of sites that post here saying "If you do this, and/or buy this... We will donate to Ron Paul or one of his super PAC's.

We have our patrons here, we accumulate many of these kinds of posts, and we have no way of knowing where our patrons' money winds up, and neither do they. Therefore, we do not support these kind of things unless, plain and simply, we can legitimize the source, and be, to the best of our ability, confident in the promise. Which unfortunately, is not an easy thing on the internet these days.

Any Joe Schmoe can make a web site, a promise, and a chip in.

So, you can spend extra money on things like this, and have nothing more than a hope that your money goes where it should, or they can simply donate directly without the additional costs.

I suggest to these sites, starting here: http://www.dailypaul.com/advertise

Big Mike..
I understand your concerns..
last month, we had the dragon slaying for site, it worked just fine.. people signed up and the owner posted number of people who signed up and donated the money to the brochours..

I see no difference here..
Livecage.com is not a new site or a brand new website. its been around for few years..

At the bottom of the page, the President and owner of livecage has stated his support and signed his name.. a simple google search for the name will bring you his profile.

Bad Bad Info

It did that to me 3 times today

I thought it was because I was using Tor, but it still did it when I went to chrome. The only way I could get to page was if I googled a story. Then it would send me to the right place.

I don't know if you guys fixed this

When you took the site off line, or whether I was just a dummy & didn't notice before, but you can "right click, open in new tab" in the "latest posts" section. You have to click high up about the title of the thread, but it works and makes things easier. If this is one of the things you guys modified I thank you.

Just don't edit it or it may get snagged again. If you have to, oh well, one of us will find it again.

Jon: question about downvoted/minimized comments

It used to be that each of us could decide how many down-votes had to be applied to a comment before it was minimized. And we could leave the number box blank if we wanted, so that nothing would ever be minimized.

Recently that has changed, and comments are now automatically minimized when they get five down-votes, no matter how ones account preferences are set. So one troll with five screen names can close down any comment. We're going to start censoring minority opinions now? This is a serious flaw in the site -- change it back, please!

turns out 10 of ~50,000 used that feature

so to reduce the # of queries per page (back when the server was guaranteed to crash during debates), that was removed.

With recent upgrades, it may be feasible to turn this on again, but it's not high on my list. I'd sooner remove the rest of the child comments & the whole subthread from public view (vs signed in), as not to distract from the many more meaningful conversations of this community.

Lots of sites already operate this way, a big reason there isn't outcry is because they hide the excision more completely, as described. It's a pretty good heuristic for large communities to moderate themselves.

"You underestimate the character of man." | "So be off now, and set about it." | Up for a game?

Wait a minute . . .

you're saying that only 10 out of 50,000 users wanted to minimize downvoted comments, so you decided to set the default mode to accommodate the 10 wusses, rather than the 49,990 who prefer no censorship ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

And I have no idea whatsoever what you meant by this:

I'd sooner remove the rest of the child comments & the whole subthread from public view (vs signed in), as not to distract from the many more meaningful conversations of this community.

What are "child comments," and what do they have to do with posts being hidden when they are down-voted?

Joη's picture

no...I'm saying the opposite

you're one of the 10.

Child comments are the replies to parent comments. They tend to be in the same tangent, and if it's a poor subject to begin with, chances are the rest of the ensuing conversation will follow suit to the depths of troll-dom. And many people feel the need to repeat what has been said; the end user/reader may not always be interested in reading pages upon pages of different ways of saying the same thing. But I'm in no rush to minimize "bad tangents" yet.

PS, the threshold isn't -5.

Uhhmmm

My post is listed as "unpublished" (Romney/Paul 2012) - is it simply because it is not 100% Paul? It's a critique of the current primary situation and a suggestion of how Paul supporters can be more effective to gain influence for Paul's ideas in the Republican Party platform..

Can't use Preview option.

a little back to reduce memory consumption.

I can preview, get 500, press back, and my content is still there; it doesn't necessarily mean everything posted is gone.

But a dead button shouldn't be there, so now you won't see it again.
