Ron Paul Revolution: The Movie
This is from our friends at the Ron Paul DVD Project:
The Ron Paul Revolution is an hour-long introduction to Congressman Ron Paul and his freedom message. Beginning with the amazing grassroots support his candidacy has spontaneously ignited, the video covers his positions on foreign policy, health care, immigration, monetary policy, income taxes, entitlements, civil liberties and more.
The movie is interspersed with clips of Dr. Paul through a twenty-year career in the House of Representatives. Current clips from the 2008 Presidential campaign are virtually interchangeable with past clips, his consistent positions and unwavering defense of the Constitution clearly on display. Ron Paul is not beholden to lobbyists or special interests, he simply does not participate in politics-as-usual.

Thank you Neal / The Ron Paul DVD Project

The movie should focus on the economy and gov spending
The economy and spending are the true main campaign themes. Listen to Paul on the war, on healthcare, on immigration, on taxes, on almost anything and the underlying theme is economics.
The other candidates cannot touch him on this.
People relate when it hits their wallets
His voting record is immaculate
MSM is already talking about this - look at the beck utube video. Dobbs...
The grassroots need to do the same and align behind this message.

DVD Project Update
Latest revision, a different lead-in (Cafferty's "A New Way" piece), an interview with RP with an overview of his policies right at the beginning, additional information on monetary issues before getting into the Federal Reserve, etc. Thanks to all who voiced an opinion, I think this has resulted in a more effective piece.

Want to order
I heard that a donor came in and you now have the money to proceed.
Please, get the order site up and running.
In Process
We have selected the place we are getting the DVD done, but we have a few more things to hash out and we will be completing our order tomorrow. I am going to try to get the order form up tonight.

About the length of the video
I really think that this is the one that would appeal to the older generation. It's nice and slow. Once they sit down to relax they stay put for awhile. There are a lot of familiar faces from TV on the film.
Before dissing it, why not try it out on seniors?
How about trying 3 seniors each and then giving us some feedback?
New YouTube video:
A new music video from the feature-length zombie musical and political satire, "Song of the Dead," has a "support Ron Paul" message at the end. See it at:
http://www.youtube.com/wa...
The teaser says, "Tired of the same old song-and-dance from your president?"
Im sure people aredoing this already
But im already getting a couple friends to help distribute this DVD. Hopefully I get a few of them to go around school and talk to people. And i also plan going door to door explaining monetary policy knowing who can complain about receiving 40% of your income every year. and explaining how this will help the local economy drastically.
So for those out there that are going to do this, make sure your talk them about how THEY benefit from electing Ron Paul. Surely everyone knows that they will in some sort of way. Do the math for them.
Explain how if more people made more money they wouldnt need a lot of the governments services for thus they can pay for it themselves. Getting rid of the Federal Income Tax would alone drastically change the economy and also give great amounts economic opportunity for all americans.
So lets say you lvie in Texas, Without the Federal Income Tax, the state economy of Texas would increase i nthe billions and trillions, and everyone knows the majority of the taxes you pay rarely ever reach your state. So if the state has a local economy in the billions and trillions and a tornado wipes out a town, fixing that town wouldnt even dent the budget. And so forth for New Orleans if the Federal Income Tax were eliminated decades ago.
and etc etc etc :)
How Dare You
How dare you make a retired military man cry. I don't know why but my eyes started welling up near the end of the video. Emotional overload. I feel like a big pussy. Maybe it has something to do with finally meeting the man himself yesterday in NH. On a below freezing football field the man stood there in just a suit jacket and talked to the crowd for a good 45 minutes. He even signed his book for me. I love this guy. His team needs to take better care of him before he goes and gets himself sick.
You're not a wussy. Emotions
You're not a wussy. Emotions are natural; it is an artificial construct of society that says we can't express them. I kept mine inside most of my life, until a certain event (which I'll keep to myself) changed me profoundly. Before then, I had watched people die in front of me and remained as emotionless as a statue, because "real men don't cry." I now *welcome* tears. How do we know we're alive if we can't feel anything?
Ron Paul has caused me to well up more than once. You're not alone there. :-)

You are very welcome!
We truly hope this Project is a very effective resource in your campaign efforts.
Please feel free to join us at the site grassrootsronpaul.org forum and voice the things you saw that you would like to see changed. We will be updating the video as time goes on to make it more effective, cleanly edited and thorough. Hope to hear from you there.
RON PAUL 2008!!!! (and 12)
Thank you!
I wish EVERY person in our Country could see...
I will do my part to see that some of them do!
Thank you for encapsulating the essence of why I support Dr. Ron Paul
After watching this ... I
After watching this ... I have to say that this comes off as if it was made by a conspiracy nut and it REALLY rubbed me the wrong way.
As far as marketing goes, the introduction could have been done much better: we live in a time when people want information immediately, and it takes a full 10 minutes to ever make a point.
Ideally, the video itself would be renamed and the introduction shortened in a more marketing way. Although I cannot think of a new title at the moment (Why You Should Vote for Ron Paul?), cleaning up the introduction could be done by following the simple marketing rule "give a solution to the customers problems."
Let me expand: in marketing and sales the goal is to identify a customer problem, identify a potential solution, promote your solution while you discredit other solutions. It's a tried-and-true method of making a sale.
So, what I would recommend is having the introduction reworked:
1) List the major issues (blatantly, not just through pictures, but text and voice over) - war in Iraq, Iran, inflation, abortion, etc...
2) State potential solutions - stay or pull out, strike first or talk, increase or decrease, pro-life or pro-choice (yes I realize this is the fallacy of two choices, but most people think like this, so we've got to reach them)
3) State Ron Paul's solutions contrasted against the other GOP candidates stances - Ron would leave instead of staying and causing more animosity, Ron would talk to Iran instead of pissing them off and costing us more lives, Ron would change economic policy and solve the credit crisis instead of pushing forward with a near-broken system, Ron would let the states decide this issue instead of forcing a blanket decision on a very complicated issue.
From there (this intro should take no longer than 5 minutes, tops) you could go into details about what Ron has said, and why he is right.
Another problem I had with this is that is comes off as VERY conspiracy theory-ish. Think Loose Change level of conspiracy. Everything Dr. Paul wants to do, and has said, is presented as fact instead of backed up with credible evidence.
For example, one portion stated that "this has been documented and proven to be true" - that's the kind of talk alien-probing, jews-did-911, hitler-was-gay conspiracy psychos give you. Even if you are factually accurate, it comes off VERY wrong to the average person. That kind of language MUST be cleaned up with more intellectual discussion on the topic if it's going to be taken seriously.
If you just want a copy for yourself, or to give to other Paul supporters, then fine. But, I urge you NOT to use this piece of film as a basis of a promotional campaign. You'll be wasting money because there is no marketing message to capture the customers attention, and people will dismiss you as a conspiracy nutjob because of the way the views and opinions are presented.
Lordkat and punjabimunda are mostly correct here
Lordkat is correct that there are some flaws in Neal's "Ron Paul Revolution: The Movie" and, yes, I can even see why he believes it even has a "conspiracy" feel in a couple areas. If Neal was a professional and knew correct marketing principles we would see a much better DVD here.
punjabimunda is also correct about the YouTube video “Ron Paul: A New Hope” which is concise and conveys a lot in a short 8+ minutes. It is my opinion that it is the single best eight minute introduction to Ron Paul that I’ve run across anywhere.
With that said I'd like to point out that we are running out of time. The The Iowa caucuses and the New Hampshire primary are just one month away. What Neal has done is create another Ron Paul promotion tool. Is it imperfect? Yes. Is it unusable? No. Let me explain. It's no secret that just about everything about the Ron Paul campaign is grass roots. Grass Roots by it's very nature is rough edged, low budget and "unprofessional" for the most part. Take a look at any video of a Ron Paul crowd. You'll see a mixture of "official" signs mixed in with homemade signs. Some of the home made signs are actually decent looking and some are downright awful. Yet everything you see in that crowd is still a contribution to the whole feel and excitement of the campaign. So it is with home made tools that grass roots supporters invent and present to others to help move the cause forward (this includes renting a Blimp, setting up housing for New Hampshire canvassers and pressing this DVD).
OK, I think we need to judge this DVD in the same way that we judge the effectiveness all these crummy little home made signs that have been plastered all over the country. As a result of these home made signs there are a lot of people who believe Ron Paul is a major candidate simply because they see his signs "all over town". So what would happen if everyone in the USA were handed this DVD, as is, tomorrow? Would the Ron Paul campaign move forward? I think YES in a big way.
THERE IS A NEED FOR A RON PAUL DVD
In the fall of 2006 my brother sent me a link to Aaron Russo's "America: From Freedom to Fascism" online. [Incidentally, this is the most professional introduction to Ron Paul on video anywhere and, amazingly, it was filmed almost a year before anyone knew Ron Paul was even going to run. Watch it.] Well, I didn’t even bother to watch it until about a month and a half later. I get so much stuff from people off the Net where people ask me to read or see whatever and quite honestly who has time for all that! Well, I came across that e-mail again and decided to watch it. It blew me away. I e-mailed the link with an explanation to my e-mail address book (about 50 people). My best response was "it's good to hear from you, how are you doing?" I fully expected more comments than that! Well, the DVD came out later and I mailed it out to the same people. This time, however, with that DVD I included a standard cover letter AND a sticky note with a hand-written short note tailored to the personality of the friend or relative I was sending the DVD to. My cover letter was based on a letter that I wrote to the person on my list that I felt would be the hardest to sell. I spent a considerable amount of time writing and honing that letter. My goal was to motivate them to get that DVD into their player. The results were FAR superior to e-mailing a link to these same people. I got several phone calls and letters in the mail thanking me for the DVD. Many were converted because of that. There is something about getting something physical in your hands, especially if you receive it with a letter from a friend or relative. Friends and relatives are the most credible people you know so you have to believe that by the same token you also have high credibility with them. Why not leverage that fact? This alone is reason enough to send out this Ron Paul DVD. What other similar tool will pop up between now and too late? Get the DVD, write the cover letter and do the personal notes and get them sent out while there is still time. You can say how you feel about the DVD in your cover letter. If you see a short-coming in it then say it. Follow that with your reasons as to why you believe the DVD still presents Ron Paul's case.
Neal created this to promote Ron Paul to people who are not Internet savvy. This is one of the few tools that can effectively reach these people. I also hold (from my experience with the "Freedom to fascism" DVD) that it is an effective way to reach people who are Internet savvy but yet are bogged down by the "see this" and "see that" fatigue from the "copy/paste" culture of today's e-mail society. Let's use the tools we've got available to us. Time is running out.

LordKat should pay close attention. Very good feedback.
"It does not take a majority to prevail... but rather an irate, tireless minority, keen on setting brushfires of freedom in the minds of men." Samuel Adams
I mostly disagree
I would agree that for folks not really interested in Ron Paul or even presidential candidates in general there are some things that could be removed from the first 10 mins... maybe about 3-4 mins of the supporter doing stuff... maybe that should have been put with the rest at the end..
BUT I DON'T SEE ANY CONSPIRACY STUFF ABOUT THIS AND I JUST RE-WATCHED THE FIRST 20 MINS AGAIN..
I think you see Arron Russo's name at the end and think that...
Where is the video you have done?? I would like a link to it so I can give it a perview.. It does sound like you have some good ideas too!
Actually, my complaint isn't
Actually, my complaint isn't with the content, it's with the presentation of that content. The way it was presented rubbed me the wrong way.
Just listing my criticism, that's all :)
Outstanding
Time to put this to good use like ggibson1 is doing. 100 blank DVD's for 20-some bucks and some spare time might pay nice dividends.
Thank you to all involved in the production of this fine project.
nice work
well done.

re: "Torrents" A reminder...
After you download this stuff, don't close your BitTorrent program, leave it running for as long as you can so you will be uploading it back out to others.
(You can Pause it while you are actively using your computer)
I've downloaded the DVD and have sent back over 500MB and counting this weekend. I think I'll leave it up all week! At night, and during the day while at work, my little computer at home will be pumping out Ron Paul!
Hmmm? I think I'll hook up my computer at work too!!!
Just got done watching....
I am BitTorrent downloading this now. I am going to stamp these out and put them on cars at the malls along with the slim jims I have ordered...
Just watched it.
A bit long, but I liked it.

F*%$'en Bravo man.
I had no problem sitting through the whole thing and it answered many of the questions about what he supports on the most important issues. It really reveils the substance of RP.
Yeah but that doesn't prove
Yeah but that doesn't prove anything. Most Americans have a short patience, and are apathetic. It has to capture their attention right away, especially those who wound''t give a damn about politics. Just trying to give some constructive critique. Otherwise this project is great!
A little too long
I watched the first 20 minutes and already found it too boring for the average person, and learned almost nothing about Ron Paul. It "looks" like a conspiracy movie, and the average American who would be more interested in watching American Idol.
If I were head of this project, I would have the 10 min. youtube videos "Ron Paul: A New Hope" by eLiberty. and "Stop dreaming". Why do I pick these videos. Because from my own experience, they have a very high conversation rate. By just showing Ron Paul: A New Hope I have "converted" most of my friends, and my parents. Follow the KISS principle- keep it simple stupid
Ron Paul (1 hour) Video DVD Project
EXCELLENT! This needs to be broadcast far and wide. Good job! Thank you so much for your efforts in the making of this piece. I hope you are rewarded with the election of an honest and committed man.
Bless all of you who worked on this video. You have my humble and undying gratitude.
Salute!
That was a great piece of work, good job!
Hello LordKat:While I
Hello LordKat:
While I understand the points you are making, I just wanted to point out this DVD was produced for individuals who had none or little knowledge of Dr. Paul. Yes, to a seasoned supporter, the DVD may be boring as you should all know this stuff by now. Our group believes monetary policy is the most important issue facing America at this time followed by the Iraq occupation which drains our treasury. Our intent in making this DVD was to inform people of these issues while introducing Dr. Paul and his solutions. The video's you mentioned are wonderful, some of the best out there, and we hope after watching our DVD, folks will find those and many more. I would also like to point out, we finished the website just a few days ago with a donation amount of $6,000 needed to move forward with the project as planned. Today, we received a most gracious donation from Laine Jastram of $5,000.00. We anticipate starting the mass production within a few days. You might also be interested in a google search of Ms. Jastram. Members of our group have burned and distributed several hundred copies of this film with positive feedback. As Neal stated, the film will be updated often to stay current and all feedback and suggestions are welcomed.
