Tending to a grassroots effort
I'm not suggesting you let the grass grow out of control so it looks unkept & unpleasant & makes the neighbors look at you strangely & of course talk about you behind your back, but you want to get the most grass you can from the root. You need to take the water into consideration & weather & cut at the place where you will produce the most grass & you want to rake it from the yard as soon after it's cut. I like the smell of fresh cut grass. You need to make sure you have plenty of gas for your lawnmower & make it easy on yourself, get a lawnmower that collects grass you don't have to rake -- invest in some grassseed too so you have a beautiful lawn w/ healthy grass & grow a variety of grass that people recognize & is pleasant, don't get a kind that nobody's seen before & they think you have weeds growing on your lawn. THE GRASSROOTS EFFORT NEEDS TO BE PRODUCTIVE IN ORDER FOR IT TO SUCCEED AS IT SHOULD. If bluegrass is best for KY, get it. Last but not least, if the grass is available on sale, get it & better yet if it is available from a small business rather than a chain store, get it there.

So, is this a record or what? I'm sorry to see you announcing
the results of these fundraising efforts without taking into consideration phone & check donations. CC is not the only way you contribute & it should not be counted as the most substantial way. It is an insult to those who donate by check/ MO b/c they don't qualify for a CC that you announce everyone else's total except theirs. It's fine to say that amount was raised in 24 hours, but it's appropriate & expected to have another post w/ the fundraising total when that becomes available so that everybodys donations are counted! Below is my autosign statement, which is incomplete through no fault of my own.

Grassroots???
Trey has far more contributions from Big Corporations special interests who line up at the trough, I doubt he has much grassroots support. Plus he has the GOP machine at his service.
What the poll measures at this point is his name recognition. Given that Trey has had plenty of exposure why does he not have an overwhelming lead over Rand?
I doubt even one Big Corp has contributed to Rand. He won't subsidize them, and they know it. All that Rand has is grassroots, no special interests
The "invisible hand" will do everything possible to stop Rand. We must make certain they don't.

As of 6/30/2009 he has $572,103 cash on hand. Trey's raised his $$$ with big contributions within KY but Rand's moneybomb proves he has national, grassroots support.
Yesterday's moneybomb vaulted Rand over Trey by quite a significant margin and that is precisely what he needed (in conjunction with the great WHAS11/Survey US poll results) and will cause the county parties and their activists to take notice.
The complaint from the GOP Establishment will be that all this money came from out of state which may well be true. But what it does is even the playing field and allow Rand and his activists here on the ground to focus on campaigning while Trey must concentrate on more BIG $$$ GOP fundraising to catch up. Did you get that? TREY NOW IS PLAYING CATCH-UP TO RAND!!
Now is the time to strike while the momentum is on our side. Rand suppotrers here in KY, we must start going door to door NOW, not next year. This campaign will be won in our neighborhoods.

The difference here is that all of the out-of-state donors to Rand's campaign expect nothing whatsoever from him other than a diligent fight for freedom.

Let the other side squabble over counting the FRN's. Rand's response should be to treat each donation as equally important regardless of amount. It's the grassroots which are supporting Rand and that should be the answer.

two problems though... most of the media so far has reported in this as if it was a failed attempt since we didn't raise $1 million. Also, not all of us can vote in Kentucky... but if he's polling at 26% then he's obviously got some support...
If asked about not achieving $M by the msm Rand should say ...
"Actually in order to run a credible senate race in this day and age, $2 Million is our goal ... but I NEVER expected to raise half of that it in one day ... there are more money bombs to come. And next time, I'm hoping more Kentuckians will be aware of my candidacy and participate. Besides, the money now in my campaign chest is sufficient for the tasks at hand. I am confident we will meet our goal."
Re the 26%, he's now getting a free ride in the msm because of it. He'll do even better ... among voters in Kentucky ... as they get to hear about him.

Thanks to everyone! I think this money bomb notches up another enormous success for liberty and for the Republic. In one swoop we've negated 100% of the neo-con, partisan puppet, big government, corporate backed Grayson's war chest advantage. Well done.

Actually, what I think he will do is give his friend the $100...
and his friend will be the one donating the money under his name, not under tog2476 name, so I don't see what's ilegal about that, it's like me giving you a gift of a $100 and you donating it to a charity under your name, except in this case the $100 is for Rand!
When you donate to a presidential campaign
You have to acknowledge that the money was not given to you for the purpose of donating to the campaign. I think it's a McCain-Feingold provision to make it illegal (didn't say prevent) for big interests to get around the individual contribution cap.
I don't know if it applies to Senate campaigns.

I think that the deadline must be midnight in each time zone because my time stamp reads Pacific time.
The "donate today" button above didn't work so I typed in the url, http://www.randpaul2010.c... , and that did the trick.
At 11 PM Pacific the total reads $672,504.00 including my humble contribution.
I'm sure we're making history by the number of donations, as well as numbers of out of state donations ever received for any senate race anywhere in the country. The total is impressive too!
