Trevor...Mrs. Paul likes the 1-877-RON-PAUL number...
Listen to automated message from Mrs. Paul, followed by the 877-RON-PAUL toll-free number.
TeaParty07.com has not posted this number as non-internet way to donate to campaign. This will cost the campaign lost donations. Someone who knows Trevor - please ask him to post this, and the mailing address also so that folks have every possible way to donate this month.
The story of the 877-RON-PAUL number...
Back in May, when I first learned of Ron Paul, I landed the toll-free number 1-877-RON-PAUL. I offered it to the campaign right away, but they indicated that they weren't ready for it (they didn't have the people yet to answer a barrage of calls coming in). So, I hung on to it and we used it here in Michigan, ringing into the then-current MI campaign director's phone.
At the end of October, Lew Moore contacted me and asked me if I'd be willing to turn the number over officially to the campaign, which I obliged right away. That was done, and the number is now on a number of new download-able pieces on the official website (see http://www.ronpaul2008.co...).
Obviously the official campaign sees the value of including this on many of the new campaign pieces, including a number of the new slim jims. Having been in communications for seven years, I recognize both the value and power of using toll-free numbers. On November 5th. half way through the day, I realized that the newly gained toll-free number should be co-equally and jointly marketed with the campaign website because many older voters (who we desperately need to reach) don't have, or use the internet as much. And if they do, many will NOT put their credit card info online for fear of identity theft, etc. So by giving them an easy way to both remember and to call the campaign for info, to volunteer, or donate, we greatly increase our chances of them doing so. Lew Moore, that same day, told me that he was perfectly OK with posting the new toll-free number on Daily Paul, or anywhere on the web to help spread the word.
When the Tea Party plan was hatched, I attempted to convey this message to Mr. Lyman via email and phone. I spoke with him once and explained that it was important to add the number to the Tea Party site as an alternative way to donate. In addition, I suggested that there be a download on the site that one could print out and leave with older people with the date, website, and toll-free number on it so they could "call in" their donation when the spirit moved them. He told me that he was suspect of the number because he never saw it officially promoted by the RP site. Yet it's been on the official site now for weeks, and still he's choosing not to add, what I feel is, a very important benefit to help in fundraising and name recognition. Have any of you seen 888-MITT-ROMNEY or 888-RUDY-GIULIANI? (no...because I own those two numbers too!)
First off, do you all think that this is a good idea...to include the 1-877-RON-PAUL number on all marketing pieces promoting Ron Paul? And second, if you agree with me, does ANYONE have any influence with Mr. Lyman to get him to see the light that this is just one more way to remove obstacles in the way of older folks getting to Ron Paul? Please, use this number in your marketing efforts if you agree, and let me know if you think this is not worth worrying about.

877-RON-PAUL called my California cell phone today.
I was thinking that maybe they were phoning a Utah list since I was working in Utah today when the call came in. Then I remembered that my cell phone actually has a Bakersfield, California number. Now I imagine that they are working parts of California (Bakersfield is a very conservative part of California). It had the prerecorded Carol Paul message that was directed at those who didn't know much about Ron. At the end it said that if you have any further questions to please call 877-RON-PAUL. It was great to hear this and know how this number is being used in the campaign, especially after reading this post by MIforRonPaulcom. MIforRonPaulcom, thanks for your foresight on this! It's people like you that are helping this campaign come together into an unstoppable machine. My mother in Montana also got a message on her phone today from the Ron Paul campaign. Her message had a male voice. I don't know which phone number her call came in on, but her call apparently had a different purpose. Somehow, I get the sense that things are picking up fast. Now that's what I like to see!

Automated call from Carol Paul
I just received an automated call from Carol Paul where the number
1-877-RON-PAUL was given to call for more information. The number is
answered by a recording "thank you for calling the Ron Paul Campaign."
I tried to find out just how the persons taking the calls are associated with the campaign. In the first call I made, I was told that they were in Texas and that they only handled processing of contributions and knew nothing else
I the second call I made, I was told that they were not allowed to give out there location. I then asked for a supervisor.
The SUPER NICE supervisor, Chris Harless, told me that they were located in Cincinatti, Ohio and a part of the campaign. He said that there were several other satellite offices taking calls for this number. He said that there were some people hired to take calls who really weren't that familiar with Ron Paul. Understandably, they have a database of information that they can call upon to provide basic information and forward all other requests up the line.
It seems that they may still have job openings. Ron paul supporters in Cincinatti who are looking for a first or second job might want to apply. Also, there may be more offices such as this to open in the future. Be on the lookout.
The number is being used. I hope this helps.

The R3VOLUTION will not be televised. It will be uploaded.
Maybe it's because I'm from Florida, but...
Recent experience forces me to ask this question. Has Mitt's campaign made an offer for your number, and if-so how much? (I wouldn't blame you if you just took the money -- if he offers enough!)
JMR
Take the money...please!
Yes, yes, yes....take Mitt's Money, and Rudy's too! Then find a way to donate it to the Ron Paul Campaign.
When the 888 numbers came out I owned about 40 of them. I got several hundred dollars for some of them. Kept my own name with an 888 number so I'm always easy for friends, family and business associates to find.
Take the money and run...right to www.ronpaul2008.com/donat...
The voicemail needs to include the Freedom Message...
I had not heard of this number until this blog, but I have been using my phone number cards made by LibertyCard.org. They are the gold standard in advertising for me. Everywhere that I go, I give someone that card. I tell them "If I were running for office, I would want you to hear what I have to say on the issues in politics that are important to you" so I hand them the card and tell them that this 10th term Congressman from Texas has a phone number that one can call and listen to any of the issues from 2 to 6 minutes in length.
Say one would want to hear his position on Taxes and the IRS, they would dial 1-641-715-3900 and enter extension 35008 + #. Voila! 2 minutes of listening to an interview with Dr. Paul and they will know what his plan is and they can continue looking into the full story by going to his website (which, btw, is also on the card)
Here is the link for the card: http://www.libertytalk.co...
Scroll to the second set of cards and you will see what I have to say.
Go ahead dial the number! Try it for yourself.
No-brainer
Of course the number should be used; it is asinine for anybody to suggest otherwise.
If the campaign has adopted the number, it is official. All official campaign contact information should be spread to all the corners of the earth. Any web site that has a link to the official campaign web site should have the official campaign phone number posted directly beneath that link.
Duh?

Thanks for the Number
Appreciate your foresight. 1-877-RON-PAUL is on my slim jims. It is an easy number to remember.
Thank you for bringing this topic up in general. My parents do not have internet, so I will include this number on all of my future communications to family, friends, neighbors, etc.
As far as the teaparty website, you have made your suggestion to Mr. Lyman and to us. I think it has merit. Many of us reading here will be including it in our communications.
should use it
I think the Tea Party should use it.
Two Toll Free Numbers
Apparently the campaign has two toll free numbers. The downloadable slim jim brochures are using the 877-RON-PAUL but the contribution form is using 877-RON-2008.
https://www.ronpaul2008.c...
Do they go to different locations? I was wondering because the mail-in donation address is in Texas rather than HQ in Virginia.
877-RON-2008 or 877-RON-PAUL...
The campaign got the 877-RON-2008 number because that's the best they could do. The 877-RON-PAUL number was taken (I had it). Lew Moore, when he called me, said that the 800-RON-PAUL number was committed to another cause for Ron, and that the number I had was better (I wonder why) than the 877-RON-2008 number. So that's the story. Obviously they'll use both, as the first one is out there already. But the 877 number is better for name recognition, and is easier to remember.
yes!
i think an easy-to-remember, toll-free campaign number should be on every piece of advertising, beit on the internet, tv, radio, or printed material.
as someone who works in advertising in los angeles, i don't know why you wouldn't.
Campaign should definitely use 1-877-RONPAUL
IMHO, it would be a boon to "business" - just another easy way for old folks (like me) to mentally note the number and call to donate when they can.
I think it is a no-brainer that they should be using this number. Besides, just today I had a conversation with a woman "...What is his name? Jon Paul?.."
Even if the phone number solidifies the name in people's minds just a wee bit, it would be worth it.

The campaign already has 1-877-RON-2008
1-877-RON-2008 has been around for a long time. It is found on their downloadable donation form at:
https://www.ronpaul2008.c...
I haven't seen the number you're talking about before...it isn't posted anywhere on their site that I have seen.
It is on some of the
It is on some of the downloadable brochures.

using toll free numbers
Sometimes people use phone numbers to find out where their support is coming from and what marketing efforts are effective. This might explain this use of the number.
Already printed in a variety of places

we must never forget the freedom lovers who have no internet access!

800 # not on official RP site?
I hadn't heard about this 800 # till seeing this post.
I checked the official RP campaign site, and I don't see the 800 # anywhere... I checked these pages where it seemed it would be most relevant and/or where the local 703 number is listed: Home page, Donate, Store, Contact, Get Involved.
I wonder why they haven't listed it anywhere?
edit: meant 1 877 number...
I've suggested it to Debbie Hopper - Asst. Campaign Mgr.
I turned the number officially over to them at the end of October and have suggested a few different times for them to start main-streaming this number along with the main web address. The 800-RON-PAUL number was already being used by another part of Ron's staff (I'm guessing for his TX office?), so the 877-RON-PAUL was the next best, and easiest to remember.
No other candidate is promoting a toll-free number, and it's just one more unique and smart thing the campaign can do for it's current and future supporters. The news media will pick up on this too - it's a no brainer.
The 877-RON-PAUL number is on many of the new print pieces and should be put up on the main site on the front page in big letters (along with the numerical conversion 1-877-766-7285, as people hate dialing vanity numbers). The campaign would also do well to put out a press release to showcase this number to the media and the general public, i.e. "There's a new number for freedom...877-RON-PAUL".
MIforRonPaulcom
Perhaps there is a way to utilize the number in Michigan. Michigan has an open primary. The National Democratic party has stripped Michigan of all of its delegates to its national convention. Ron Paul is the only antiwar pro-civil liberties Republican presidential candidate. The antiwar Democrats and independents in Michigan should be encouraged to make their vote mean something by choosing to vote in Republican Michigan primary on January 15, 2008 for Congressman Ron Paul for president.
It's a no brainer to keep
It's a no brainer to keep it!. I can't imagine why Lyman or anyone else wouldn't be using it. Why doesn't he call the campaign if he's suspicious of the number and verify it?
Honestly some of the bickering and stubbornness over whose idea is better or legit that goes on is just ridiculous. If something is a good idea then we should run with it just check check it out thoroughly and make sure anybody involved is on the up and up not to hard.
It ought to be on the friggen Blimp too!

Use it!
Appreciate your efforts. Everyone needs to do their part, whatever that may be. One thing we need to realize is that Trevor Lyman is not in charge of the unofficial Ron Paul campaign. He has the blimp and TeaParty07 ideas, but the message, meetup group members and ultimately having your friends, family, neighbors and strangers go vote for Ron Paul in their primary/caucus is the most important thing. So for those like us who are supporters need to come together and get organized the best we can. Please email me if you would like to get together on TeaParty07 ideas - gunjin22@yahoo.com
Thanks,Robert
Tea Party Idea...
Just for the record, I suggested back in May, on this very site, that we use the Tea Party theme to boycott the media (where we'd dump our TV's, newspapers, radios, and cable bills into a big dumpster in a big rally). I even registered a few domains for the ideas (which was warmly received when I suggested it)...www.BostonTeaVParty.com (where the V stands for Victory), and BostonTVParty.com.
The fundraising idea of Trevor's was great - but the idea is just a conduit for ALL of us to make this work. Trevor needs to set his pride aside and add this toll-free number to the mix, as well as everyone else too. There are (3) official ways to donate - WEB, MAIL, AND PHONE. He lists just one of the three on the TeaParty site. Let it be known that some $200K came in over the phone on the 5th. of November, and with the promotion of 877-RON-PAUL, that number could go up 5x or more!
please keep it.
Let's really utilize this tool. It doesn't seem to be on the front page of many RP sites, why not?

The Fed
You are the winner. It was Senator Glass working out Colonel House's plan that brought about the Federal Reserve.
The Federal Reserve was created on December 23, 1913, with the signing of the Federal Reserve Act by President Woodrow Wilson. The act had been drafted as House Resolution 7837 by Representative Carter Glass (D-VA), incoming chairman of the House Banking and Currency Committee.
I see your point, but
I see your point, but there's no reason to attack Lyman for it. he's not running the campaign, he's merely maintaining a website to help us out. But I will definitely take your suggestion and start getting the number out to some older folks that don't get online.
Thanks for the idea.
Attack Lyman...
I never attacked Lyman. I simply presented the case to him, as I've done here to you all, to add it to the TeaParty marketing mix, and for some very legitimate reasons. I even gave him Deb Hopper's extension number at the campaign office and told him to call her and verify that it was legit. And he told me never to call or email him again. I was very disappointed in his lack of professionalism, especially since what I was suggesting makes all the sense in the world. I mean how much time are we going to waste NOT getting this number up on the site? How many more donations are we NOT going to get due to this not getting done?
Yes it is important
It is very important especially for letter writing campaigns and put on all the slim jim drops. What I was wondering when people call the number do they get a live human or a automated message? Can they ask questions about Dr. Paul positions or is it for donations? Thanks
Not sure..
Live person answers. I think if you have a question (i.e. need info, want to volunteer, etc. - other than donate) then they can get your name and number to someone that can help.
LIVE PERSON
I called it with some questions and a Live Person answered... and on the second ring I might add! Very good number.
