I, David William Hedrick, a member of the silent majority, decided that I was not going to be silent anymore. So, I let U.S. Congressman Brian Baird have it. I was one questioner out of 38, that was called at random from an audience that started at 3,000 earlier in the evening. Not expecting to be called on, I quickly scratched what I wanted to say on a borrowed piece of paper and with a pen that I borrowed from someone else in the audience minutes before I spoke. So much for the planned talking points of the right wing conspiracy.

I presume. Perhaps it is PTSD. That is no laughing matter and very real. Veterans are finally being recognized from that war who have had their lives completely ruined because of it. My brother is one of them. He is 59 years old and was a 19-year-old Marine in Viet Nam. He came home and had to be hospitalized. He actually pulled a knife on me when I was 12, at my throat, and said that's how they did it to the "gooks." My brother saw horrific things. He would go to bed and wake up to find his friend in the bed next to him with his throat slit.
He has never been able to sleep at night without horrible dreams. He has had two failed marriages and is a reformed alcoholic. He works as a school custodian because he wants to be in a quiet, nonconfrontational place with children. He should have been an accountant.
So, the VA finally realized he had a problem and are giving him disability. This may have been what happened to this man. Most of the Iraqi vets are suffering from it.

Brian Baird - free trip on us to visit penguins
Hi everyone,
The Wall Street Journal has an article titled, "Lawmakers' Global-Warming Trip Hit Tourist Hot Spots." Guess who's the most prominent member of this 11-day, all expenses paid (by the taxpayer) trip to snorkel at the Great Barrier Reef and visit a penguin rookery at the South Pole? Brian Baird, the Washington State congressman who got the marine kicked out of his town hall meeting!
It makes me so mad that Baird can travel around the globe and yet show disdain for the people who paid for his and his wife's vacation. Baird showed such contempt for the marine because he's so much wiser than the rest of us. According to WSJ, it took digging of 7 months before they even found out about this trip. If it were aboveboard and Baird thought we'd be thrilled to pay for his trip because it was for our benefit, you'd think he would have publicized it instead of hiding it.

So here's Congressman Baird telling the marine he may keep his own health coverage and that there's an amendment that will allow his handicapped son to be covered (not true) who himself took his wife along to these vacation spots all for free for himself. Sure makes me think that his medical care will be much different than ours if his vacations are free and ours are not.
"The South Pole trip, led by Rep. Brian Baird (D., Wash.), ranks among the priciest. The lawmakers reported a cost to taxpayers of $103,000.
That figure, however, doesn't include the actual flying, because the trip used the Air Force planes, not commercial carriers. Flight costs would lift the total tab to more than $500,000, based on Defense Department figures for aircraft per-hour operating costs."

David never thought to consider the unConstitutional nature of the wars he fought in. He was trained to obey orders- not question the Constitutionality of them. Did he ever read "War is a racket"?
So, what you're really seeing is one govt. hack going at it with a former govt. hack. And, if he's really a disabled veteran (he seemed in good shape) we are giving him money (socialism).
"Leave my kids alone"! What a joke considering he'll probably send them to public schools.

I was in the Marines for 8 years. At the time I believed the stuff that was being spoon fed to us because I didn't really pay attention to what was going on in the world. I think this was in great part due to my youth and what was important to me at that time in my life (partying, girls, college).
It wasn't until after I left the corps and had a family that I woke up. We all had to wake up at one time or another. I'm sure you were'nt aware of what was going on when you were in your twenties either.
As for those that are on active duty. There are plenty that are still unaware (we need to educate them) but be grateful for those that are aware for they may be the Marines, Soldiers, Airmen and Sailors that stop our military from being used against us, just like Gen. Smedley Butler (War is a Racket) did.

Now that the Summertime is
Now that the Summertime is ending and the Congress critters got a bad taste from their town hall meetings so they will probably never try that again, perhaps the next step is to organize parties to go to DC on those breakfasts and capitol tours they host for constituents. That would be a great time to give them feedback about the job they are doing and constituent's concerns for our local areas and our nation.
