Obama to make unprecedented address to all public school students

Obama to make unprecedented address to all public school students on September 8

The long march continues apace as Great Leader drives us toward the new America with nationalized everything.. .if you have a strong stomach read the word.docs linked below with recommended classroom activities before and after the speech (be warned, if you love the Constitution you will want to barf)

In a recent interview with student reporter
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3DrP-695ATg-c , Damon Weaver, President Obama announced that on September 8 - the first day of school for many children across America - he will deliver a national address directly to students on the importance of education. The President will challenge students to work hard, set educational goals, and take responsibility for their learning. He will also call for a shared responsibility and commitment on the part of students, parents and educators to ensure that every child in every school receives the best education possible so they can compete in the global economy for good jobs and live rewarding and productive lives as American citizens.

Since taking office, the President has repeatedly focused on education, even as the country faces two wars, the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression and major challenges on issues like energy and health care. The President believes that education is a critical part of building a new foundation for the American economy. Educated people are more active civically and better informed on issues affecting their lives, their families and their futures.

This is the first time an American president has spoken directly to the nation's school children about persisting and succeeding in school. We encourage you to use this historic moment to help your students get focused and begin the school year strong. I encourage you, your teachers, and students to join me in watching the President deliver this address on Tuesday, September 8, 2009. It will be broadcast live on the White House website http://www.whitehouse.gov/ at 1:00 p.m. eastern standard time.

In advance of this address, we would like to share the following
resources: a menu of classroom activities for students in grades preK-6
http://www.ed.gov/teachers/how/lessons/prek-6.doc and for students in grades 7-12 http://www.ed.gov/teachers/how/lessons/7-12.doc . These are ideas developed by and for teachers to help engage students and stimulate discussion on the importance of education in their lives. We are also staging a student video contest on education. Details of the video contest will be available on our website
http://www.ed.gov/ in the coming weeks.

On behalf of all Americans, I want to thank our educators who do
society's most important work by preparing our children for work and for
life. No other task is more critical to our economic future and our
social progress. I look forward to working with you in the months and
years ahead to continue improving the quality of public education we
provide all of our children.

Sincerely,
------
The Pre K-6 Word Document
PreK-6 Menu of Classroom Activities: President Obama’s Address to Students Across America
Produced by Teaching Ambassador Fellows, U.S. Department of Education
September 8, 2009

Before the Speech:
Teachers can build background knowledge about the President of the United States and his speech by reading books about presidents and Barack Obama and motivate students by asking the following questions:
Who is the President of the United States?
What do you think it takes to be President?
To whom do you think the President is going to be speaking?
Why do you think he wants to speak to you?
What do you think he will say to you?
Teachers can ask students to imagine being the President delivering a speech to all of the students in the United States. What would you tell students? What can students do to help in our schools? Teachers can chart ideas about what they would say.
Why is it important that we listen to the President and other elected officials, like the mayor, senators, members of congress, or the governor? Why is what they say important?
During the Speech:
As the President speaks, teachers can ask students to write down key ideas or phrases that are important or personally meaningful. Students could use a note-taking graphic organizer such as a Cluster Web, or students could record their thoughts on sticky notes. Younger children can draw pictures and write as appropriate. As students listen to the speech, they could think about the following:
What is the President trying to tell me?
What is the President asking me to do?
What new ideas and actions is the President challenging me to think about?
Students can record important parts of the speech where the President is asking them to do something. Students might think about: What specific job is he asking me to do? Is he asking anything of anyone else? Teachers? Principals? Parents? The American people?
Students can record any questions they have while he is speaking and then discuss them after the speech. Younger children may need to dictate their questions.

After the Speech:
Teachers could ask students to share the ideas they recorded, exchange sticky notes or stick notes on a butcher paper poster in the classroom to discuss main ideas from the speech, i.e. citizenship, personal responsibility, civic duty.
Students could discuss their responses to the following questions:
What do you think the President wants us to do?
Does the speech make you want to do anything?
Are we able to do what President Obama is asking of us?
What would you like to tell the President?
Teachers could encourage students to participate in the Department of Education’s “I Am What I Learn” video contest.† On September 8th the Department will invite K-12 students to submit a video no longer than 2 min, explaining why education is important and how their education will help them achieve their dreams.††Teachers are welcome to incorporate the same or a similar video project into an assignment. More details will be released via www.ed.gov.

Extension of the Speech: Teachers can extend learning by having students
Create posters of their goals. Posters could be formatted in quadrants or puzzle pieces or trails marked with the labels: personal, academic, community, country. Each area could be labeled with three steps for achieving goals in those areas. It might make sense to focus on personal and academic so community and country goals come more readily.
Write letters to themselves about what they can do to help the president. These would be collected and redistributed at an appropriate later date by the teacher to make students accountable to their goals.
Write goals on colored index cards or precut designs to post around the classroom.
Interview and share about their goals with one another to create a supportive community.
Participate in School wide incentive programs or contests for students who achieve their goals.
Write about their goals in a variety of genres, i.e. poems, songs, personal essays.
Create artistic projects based on the themes of their goals.
Graph student progress toward goals.

"I think we've reached a little bit of the silly season when the president of the United States can't tell kids in school to study hard and stay in school," presidential spokesman Robert Gibbs told reporters. "I think both political parties agree that the dropout rate is something that threatens our long-term economic success."

Found one link to this post on Michelle Malkin's site using google. Not sure if there's others. Might explain some of the left/right, conservative/liberal, republican/democrat, racism, etc... distractions.

bad idea....

this will back fire. Obama will not last four years. What a disaster...I see impeachment hearings in Obama's future.

Agreed. Americans may be apathetic to a government

which steals trillions and kills millions, but going after their kids is crossing the line.

I beg to differ...

...but these cock-a-roaches have been eating the minds of American children since the early 20th century; longer in other parts of the 'civilized' world. That you make such a statement illustrates how we are all victims of a concerted, organized effort at controlling the minds of the public. I'm not condemning you; we're all victims on this side of the elite divide. But this brazen propagandizing won't change anything in the minds of Americans.

As Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh intimate daily, to millions. once we get a Republican in there all will be right with the world.

People have NO memory. Watch. Americans will elect another unconscionable cad -- with an 'R' after his name -- that will make the current nazi look like a right-winger. I hope I'm wrong (but I'm not).

Not in my SC school district, at least not live and w/opt out

I'm a little wary of the delays

It sounds like they could be used on any day at any time, which makes it harder for the parents to respond.

I called my district

They insisted they had to get parental authorization prior to viewing (whenever that is). They also said they will make a transcript of the speech available to parents ahead of time.

Obama says, Do what I say, not what I do.

Lies and deception tend to get exposed. It's too bad, that the example of leaders to the children is sycophantic behaviour.
The severe detachment from nature is also disturbing.
Socialism, communism etc, forms of "government" as an excuse for institutionalized tyranny, thuggary and thievery.
Remember, these leaders are "buearucrats". Diseased and broken brained. Kinda like the hostages police, firemen and teachers have become.
However,
I remember back in the 9th grade, we listened to NPR radio (public radio) as if it was "the" station, and from the "layer above", the ultimate truth. Every week, we would listen, but it was not about "policy" or endoctrination. Mostly, we heard subjects explained thru stories about people, not about people subjecting themselves to a "diety" called the President.
Then, tie into ACORN, plant some trees on the center divider, and proceed with endocrination.
Offer black boots and a brown shirt, and teenagers will salute Hitler, like my friend Elsie. Although Elsie left Germany, but at 16 years old,she recalls gleefully raising her hand in that infamous gesture, the giant arm salute of the Nazi, while attending a parade featuring the Adolf.
Elsie made it thru her endocrination, and came to America.

Bueauracrats are the exact opposite of whom I want to listen too.

Moore, OK with 21k students: "No School September 8th"

"September 8th is a scheduled Site Improvement Day for the Moore Public Schools. As referenced on our school calendar, school is not in session on this date. The district has been advised that President Obama will deliver an address directly to school children on the importance of education. Parents who wish to view the speech with their children may consult the U.S. Education Department's website."

The TRUE America is revealed

I am saddened by the comments posted on here from ADULTS with children. To hear that a parent is refusing to allow their own children to not attend school over a Obama's speech is crazy. The same so called "values" that these parents claim to have taught to their children about the importance of education is going to be thrown right back in their face as lies because of a speech that encourages to stay in school and work hard to achieve goals. Don't they realize that by keeping them away from school they are actually saying "School is important, but only if we agree with what is being taught"? This is a president that is trying to put the American people first. He has been tackling the economy trying to get us (adults and children) out of the worse financial mess in decades, he has made healthcare accessible to children that need it, he is trying to pass a better healthcare that affordable, extended help to families that were about to lose their homes, bringing our troops home from a senseless war, and the list goes on. All Bush did was worry about that senseless war and raised prices on everything imaginable for eight years...not giving a crap about the middle class or our children. I feel so sorry for Obama because no matter what he does it will never be enough because he has a DARKER COLORED SKIN than previous presidents. Shame on everyone for their ignorance.

Hmm...

First, welcome to the DP...stick around you might learn something about our government - Republican/Democrat, it does not matter, they are the same.

Second, you are the only one here who made this a color issue...you are hereby a racist!

Third, what troops has he brought home? Last time I checked our troops are still in Iraq, more troops were deployed to Afghanistan under Obama, and now we are in Pakistan...open your eyes!

Finally, no president whether Republican/Democrat/Libertarian, or black/white/orange should ever address our children without first consulting the parents, period! It is the parent's responsibility - and right - to provide education for their children without interferance from anybody, including the president!

"We dare not forget that we are heirs of that first revolution" -JFK

Ignorance it appears

you know something about first hand. I think if we lived in the times of Hitler we would all be having the same reaction and Hitler wasn't black but his propaganda was poison. It's about danger and indoctrination. Parents have an obligation to protect their children. Wether you drink the kool aid or not.

Red Army & Explorers (earlier post from Lacandy on other thread)

On May 15th, 2009 Lacandy says:
Between the Red Army Youth & the Boy Scout Explorer Youth, the Neo-Cons are building themselves quite a youth-gestapo.

"Göring detached the political and intelligence departments from the police and filled their ranks with Nazis. On April 26, 1933; Göring merged the two units (police officers & Nazi youth) as the Gestapo."

The Explorers program, a coeducational affiliate of the Boy Scouts of America that began 60 years ago, is training thousands of young people in skills used to confront terrorism, illegal immigration and escalating border violence — an intense ratcheting up of one of the group’s longtime missions to prepare youths for more traditional jobs as police officers and firefighters. - (front page link)

Obama = O.ne B.ig A.ss M.istake A.merica

Oh puhleeze

The public school system is a COMPULSORY center for indoctrinating children in government approved versions of history, civics, etc. as well as breaking them to government authority. This speech by the latest slimy puppet to occupy the White House just takes it to the next level.

It has nothing to do with the color of his skin. It has EVERYTHING to do with the proper role of government and with Obama's demonstrated commitment to ignoring the rule of law, enriching bankers and other financial elites, continuing the world empire, and lying to the people whenever it is convenient. Just like his predecessors.

And now he wants to pour his poison directly into the ears of the children. F*^& him!

And the fact that you are trying to make this a race issue identifies you as either a fool or a misinformation operative.

Nicely said Acala....

He's a troll. Frankly, I expected them here a few days ago. The talent pool must be getting low. Seems like adam has pulled duty over the Labor Day weekend, sucks to be him.

Who's children are they?

and yes I should have some say on what MY child is taught in school. I should want my child to learn critical thinking skills and reasoning. So if a child is pulled out of school, hopefully the parent is able to to talk about why in a way that questions the speech and it's intent. I guess my biggest question is: Who are you and why are you feeling the need to turn this into a race issue?

I'm guessing

you're new to DP or are a divider of some sort.

Shame on you

You're the one who needs to do some research. Most of us who come to DP at least have a better idea on why things are happening. Let me ask you a very simple question, if obama represented any change, why did he select a career politician, a statist, for his vp?

I agree with you to the point where you claim

Obama is putting the people first. Obama is putting the global corporations first and he is using the Department of Education as a tool to condition children to Keynesian economics (socialism, which many generations of Americans are already victims of "the nanny state", which is DEPENDENT on a "black market" (capitalism, based on illegal drugs and gun (and in govt WMD) sales, which produces a police state/ prison nation).

I lost my wallet a few months ago and went to the Social Security office to replace my SS card. While I was there, a woman came screaming out of someone's office, "YOU are NOT going to take my baby!!" There was allot more said... I stood there, thinking, "Thank gawd she doesn't have a gun". It was really spooky, and an ugly experience.. a few weeks ago, I saw a man get tazed.. for nothing. I couldn't help myself when I said, "Stop it! stop it!".. and then I thought... "Don't say anything because they may think you're saying, "Me next, me next".

None of these incidents are directly Obama's fault. These kind of events certainlty happened under Bush, but they were not so many reported. The first tazing I saw was on YouTube of a guy questioning John Kerry about the 2004 election, which he claimed Kerry won.

There are many people here, and people on the left, who believe our government has been hi-jacked by a "duopoly" that is leading the US into a global slave state and that is not where they want their children to go, because they know, Keynesian economics is slavery.

During the election, I asked Democrats why they were voting for Obama, hoping to get 10 reasons. I got seven.

1. he's cute
2. he's mixed race/black (many people here would have voted for Powell before 911)
3. he's a good speaker
4. he studies constitutional law
5. he's NOT GOP
6. he's NOT Hillary (GOP)
7. He tells the truth

People voted for Ron Paul because

1. End the Fed
2. Stop the Patriot Act
3. End the Wars
4. End the War on Drugs
5. Reduce Debt
6. Lower Taxes
7. NO National ID
8. Secure borders
9. he looks like Mr Bunny
10. he tells the truth,

Ron Paul said he would eliminate the dept of education and he did not support Bush's "No Child Left behind"... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8Bf7GfIErw

I believe the race card is way over played on Obama.. I personally do not know ONE person who has an issue with his race. I think the race card, no matter which side tosses it.. is racist.

You'd have way more fun rabble-rousing

on a NeoCon site. The people here usually don't like Bush either, but it is over carefully reasoned political differences, not the left-right paradigm your post shows you are more familiar with.

Your post shows in so many ways that you do not understand the philosophies prevalent on this site.

I love education, but I hate state-controlled education. If I were sending my child to a Prussian-style school, keeping them home with me on a day that love for formalized, government-centered schooling over life-long, independent learning is being taught is perfectly in line with teaching my child to value education.

The rest of your post is just a socialist point of view and misguided Bush-bashing. I can Bush-bash, too, but I like to make sure I know what I'm talking about first.

Yes the real America is

Yes, aadams80, the real America is revealed...duped by their own ignorance and naivete. Your reply reflects a sad mistaken identity in your belief that issues are colour driven. You sound so caught up with Obama (because he is black????) rather than the outrageous policies being enacted by this administration. You are so quick NOT TO HEAR what is enraging the population. Where does the real ignorance lie?

AND to everyone on this

AND to everyone on this socialism vs capitalism "trip". By definition The general goal of socialism is to maximize wealth and opportunity, or to minimize human suffering, through public control of industry and social services. Socialism is an alternative to capitalism, where the means and profits of production are privately held.

I dont know about everyone else but I'm tired of the rich getter richer and the middle class getting poorer no matter how hard they work. THINK about it!!

lol...

Well, then I suggest you elect a socialist next time... Because this time, ya messed up and got a fascist.

He is 100% bought and paid for by the same corporate funds that bought and paid for Bush. Which explains why his policies are virtually IDENTICAL. Including them both having teh desire for massive expansion of government involvement in medical care (remember medicaid?).

Oh... And shouldn't the patriot act be gone now? Shouldn't our troops be home? Shouldn't torture and rendition have stopped? Shouldn't the prison without trial stopped? Shouldn't our overseas prisons have been shut down? Shouldn't corporate interests have been put on hold for us? Shouldn't big bank bailouts have stopped?

No? oh....

This about sums it up...

"School is important, but only if we agree with what is being taught"?

Ummm, yep. That about sums it up. Education is only valuable if it is accurate.

Why isn't monetary theory taught in school? At any level? 12 years isn't enough time to get to it, eh?

By the way, discussing a person's race when someone else is discussing valid points, is well, racist. I suggest you work on that character flaw of yours. It's ok, no one hates you for it, we just want you to get help.

The Philosophy Of Liberty -

Depending on what a person

Depending on what a person decides to study, there will always be some inaccuracies (i.e History). Christopher Columbus has a day that is celebrated by everyone for his so-called discovery. The truth is that he enslaved, slaughtered, and exploited Native Americans and many explorers like the vikings reached the "Americas" before he did. That doesn't stop the US from observing his holiday yearly. It's up to the individual to research and find the truth on their own which is the whole reason for learning.

Don't forget

Don't forget Luis de Torres or Luis de Santangel!

But I'm sure you know about them and the Dutch West Indies Company etc...

Seems like Nothing. Nothing we learned in history is quite how we learned it.

Stick around.

By the way, how did you find this site?

Bingo...

It's up to the individual, not the collective. Now you are getting it. It is not up to the Great Leader to address my children. It is up to me as an individual and a parent to teach and up to them to study. And our beliefs are defined by us, not you or Him.

The Wave - look it up

true story, and they are remaking it.

Welcome

I too, hope you learn something here. I've read the comments and I see none that pertain to race. Why do you refer to it? Tell me what we have to be ashamed of? And what ignorance do you speak of? We are aware of Obamas extention and expansion of the Patriot Act, his yes vote on FISA, TARP, Bailouts, Stimnulus, WAR & MORE WARS, and no he will not be bringing our troops home, only reshuffling them to Afganistan, Pakistan and who knows maybe even Iran, military tribunals, continued deficit spending, appoinment of 35 Czars, croynism continues unabated. He is continuing Bush's policies. Simply put we can not afford to overhaul healthcare. We are broke not only at the Federal level but at the State and County levels, as well. Everyone who needs emergency care may have access to it at a ER, no one is refused care. Those who meet the criteria may apply for medicare as it stands. As far as him addressing our schools, it's no different then if Bush had since they are one in the same.

The ignorance that I am

The ignorance that I am speaking about is parents actually think that their kids will be "brainwashed" by words of encouragement related to school. Not one person (that I know of) has heard the speech but they are willing to keep their kids out of a whole day of school over a speech that may not be any more than twenty minutes.

AND no, I havent read racists comments on this site. Just because its not in black and white doesn't mean that its not there. Everyone, EVERYONE, has a level of racism and bigotry within. Some people just hide it better than others:-)

I don't need anyone to encourage my

child, I do a great job of that on my own. My advice, you're still at the opening of the rabbit hole, you need to go a little deeper. Listen to Dr. Paul and go to lewrockwell. com, read some of the articles in archives from all of the contributers. For the most part, you'll see that we're all individuals here and searching for the meaning of true liberty.

Strangers

I don't let strangers lecture my children. Why would I let a man I KNOW to be a corrupt liar lecture my children in the context of a spectacle and format designed to awe them into thinking he is something he is not and that his words have special importance?

Does a person know their

Does a person know their children's teacher before they are taught? How about going to McDonalds or any other restaurant and purchasing a meal prepared by a perfect stranger? Better yet, going to a church and sitting under a sermon from a pastor/preacher and not knowing what he does once he leaves the church.....

A bad meal takes a day to crap out...

A bad idea may take a lifetime to crap out...

And yes, as good parents, we do get to know the people involved in our children's education.

The Philosophy Of Liberty -
http://www.isil.org/resources/introduction.swf

We do

a meet and great with our childrens teachers. We vote is our schoolboards so no they are not strangers. And if that stranger at McDonalds makes a great burger and is doing his job as he PROMISED then yeah I'll eat his burger. What the preacher does on his own time, in his own home is none of mine or the governments business as long as he is hurting no one.

Funny

It would really be funny if all Obama said was HAVE A GREAT YEAR AND WORK HARD BECAUSE IT WILL PAY OFF IN THE FUTURE...STAY IN SCHOOL!!

All of this debate over 18 words...

Except that isn't what he is going to say...

And even if it was, *I* would still take issue with it.

"STAY IN SCHOOL" - Translates to stay in government ran, government decided curriculum and learn the government propaganda well.

I was a high school drop out, self-educated and am considered one of the top in my profession and make a healthy salary.

We don't need government school's to learn. Learning and education are important, SCHOOL IS NOT. If school happens to provide this, great, if not, oh well.

The Philosophy Of Liberty -
http://www.isil.org/resources/introduction.swf

Does anyone know what Obama

Does anyone know what Obama is going to say? If someone does, please post it on this site.

Congrats to being very successful and the top is your profession. Unfortunately, not all professions are like that and its becoming very competitive for great jobs. Professionally, I'm a nurse and I need continued education to stay ahead or sink. Education is for some and not all obviously.

the problem is that no one knows...

[portion deleted for irrelevance]

We agree that education is important. We simply disagree on whether or not government school is the primary means by which someone should be educated.

Btw, for the record (most here probably know this) but just so you know what kind of loony you are dealing with. I am an atheist and anarchist with a firm belief in the no force principle.

Grades K-6 are kids at very impressionable ages.

I agree with this article. See what you think.

White House Puts Parents In an Awkward Position

Moms and dads who don’t think that it is appropriate for the president to address students shouldn’t be put in the situation where they will be forced to remove their students from school during the first day of school.

Six, seven, and eight-year-old kids shouldn't be put in a position where they have to say that a particular president is inspiring and such a wonderful person. Next Tuesday, the opening day for many schools across the country, President Obama will give a speech to elementary and secondary students across the country. There is a reason why no president has commanded the time of America's school children in the past to make them listen to the president as part of their school day.

Could you imagine the outrage if the president requested time to address adults during their work day even if it were simply to encourage them to work hard and be productive for the good of the nation? But why would they be upset? The very act of listening to a politician is a political act. It is no more appropriate than requiring that Americans to listen to a political ad. Some adults simply don't want to waste their time listening to a politician or they might simply dislike that person. Others might not be political and not care enough to watch such an address the politician. But this is less objectionable for adults than kids – kids are much more impressionable.

More:

http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2009/09/04/john-lott-obama-ed...

First

as you can see from my comment I firmly believe here is no differnce between Bush and Obama. I wouldn't want Bush to address my chidren directly any more then I want Obama to as I disagree with their policies and the direction they have taken this country from monetary policy to domestic and foreign policy. Last time I checked I am still the guardian of my children and keeping them home that day is a personal choice. Secondly, so now everyone is a "closet racist?" I thought this president was going to "transcend race" however, it seems to me everytime the race card is played it's by his adminstration or his supporters. For you to suggest that our racism is somehow below the surface and we hide it well is just ludicrist. Stick around. Keep reading and absorbing. Ron Paul cured my apathy, I cured my ignorance.

Once again...

You should get help with your racism problem.

This is an individualist site. As such, the concept of racism or race as a determining factor run counter to our beliefs here. But it sounds like you have made the first step, and admitted your problem, so now you just need to get help.

And we are anti-collectivist. The very fact that he is addressing the children in a way to call to them to common purpose is enough for many here to be offended. And that common purpose is not "be good, stay in school". That would be a ridiculous waste of time. I fully expect him to call the kids together as a community to work toward common community oriented goals...

You are beyond reason and way out of your league here.

Adam80....

If you desire an education of a lifetime, you've come to the right place. If you've come here to debate the left/right paradigm or display the ignornace of your youth, you will not last long here. You seem to fit right in with mainstream America who take a piece of the puzzle and beat it to death with the politically correct talking points while viewing through tunnel vision. There are citizens in this country with the ability to take a piece of the puzzle, link it together with other pieces of the puzzle to view a glimpse of the big picture. You are not one of those people, but I suspect as with many others in this country, there may be Hope this could Change.

I assume that was meant for...

aadams80 and not myself... :)

Yep, my bad, just saw the title.... :)

Here, Here

Well said. Thanks

Welcome

I welcome the comments...it just means that everyone is thinking:-)

First to define Racism (according to Merriam-Webster) 1. a belief or doctrine that inherent differences among the various human races determine cultural or individual achievement, usually involving the idea that one's own race is superior and has the right to rule others.
2. a policy, system of government, etc., based upon or fostering such a doctrine; discrimination.
3. hatred or intolerance of another race or other races.

WHERE DOES MY COMMENT FIT IN AS RACISM?

Second, President George H.W. Bush made a similar address to schools in 1991. How many parents threatened to take their kids out of school with that speech (someone please show me). Why the change now with parents wanting to keep their kids home (hmmm, I wonder)?

Everyone just needs to take a step back and look at their true reasons for doing stuff (easier said than done). How do you explain to you child that has been anxiously awaiting going to school that they cant because the President is giving a speech about the importance of school/staying in school? Should you lie and say there is no school because I am sure they will ask more questions if you tell the truth.....

Bush

I think you will find the opposition to what Bush did and stands for to be nearly identical to that expressed for Obama. I find them to be nearly identical, except Obama doesn't have the communication skills of a special needs fourth grader. And Obama is better at diverting public attention from his war mongering and cronyism.

My kids were not in school in 1991. And I can't speak for other parents.

racism is first and foremost a

collectivist ploy meant to divide.

You claimed that...

Just because we didn't make racist comments, didn't mean we weren't racist. And yet, your own comments, which clearly demonstrated that you believed race was an issue aren't racist?

You left out this part of the definition:
Discrimination or prejudice based on race.

You are clearly showing your own discrimination, by factoring it into your arguments when none of us has discussed that at all.

I will tell you what. After he ends the patriot act, the wars of aggression, torture and rendition, indefinite prison sentences without trial, unlawful searches and seizures, THEN and ONLY THEN he may speak to my daughter about these noble acts.

What we tell our children? The truth. The government does not have a right to enter my home or my life. Good parents monitor what their children learn and watch. We aren't being given that opportunity here. Period. There MIGHT be a different reaction if his speech was pre-released and it did turn out to benign.

Does anyone else know of any socialists who made an extra effort to talk with and win over the youth? Anyone? Go ahead, inform this guy...

And the experiment known as The Wave? true story...

Once again, you are out of your league... Either stay and get educated or not. But doing "damage control" here is an absolute waste of your time. Seriously...
