The Real Ted Kennedy
This is the only Ted Kennedy I know. The guy they talked about on TV last night is a figment of the media's imagination. I am so glad that some of us remember the truth and are not afraid to speak it. This is the true Ted Kennedy. It's time the truth was known about this loser. I swear, the media could eulogize Hitler if they decided that's what they wanted to do. They are one powerful and dangerous group.
As soon as his cancer was detected, I noticed the immediate attempt at the "canonization" of old Teddy Kennedy by the mainstream media. They are saying what a "great American" he is. I say, let's get a couple things clear & not twist the facts to change the real history.
1. He was caught cheating at Harvard when he attended it. He was expelled twice, once for cheating on a test, and once for paying a classmate to cheat for him.
2. While expelled, Kennedy enlisted in the Army, but mistakenly signed up for four years instead of two. Oops! The man can't count to four! His father, Joseph P. Kennedy, former U.S. Ambassador to England (a step up from bootlegging liquor into the US from Canada during prohibition), pulled the necessary strings to have his enlistment shortened to two years, and to ensure that he served in Europe, not Korea , where a war was raging No preferential treatment for him! (like he charged that President Bush received).

It was not important and would be out of context if I DID
re-post them since they were in response to zenpiper (see my notes below).

My last post to this thread
My last post to this thread was deleted by someone and there was nothing inappropriate about it. It's getting to be there are too many gate keepers on this site anymore.

I had a thread and took it down
Too much weirdness. Funny, because while most support free speech, if I post something they don't like then I am attacked. Wasn't worth an argument. Easy to hit the delete button.
I was not referring to your thread.

He wasn't all bad.
Consider:
Voter Registration
Voted NOT to require photo ID for voter registration. (Feb 2002)
RON PAUL WOULD APPROVE.
Military
Voted to allow more military base closures. (May 1999)
RON PAUL WOULD APPROVE.
Military
Voted NO to authorize military force against Iraq. (Oct 2002)
RON PAUL ALSO VOTED AGAINST THE WAR.
Retirement
Voted no to allow Roth IRAs for retirees. (May 1998)
NO IDEA WHAT THIS IS.
Death Penalty
Voted no to make it harder for Death Row inmates to extend
appeals (Apr 17, 1996) (rollcall #66)
IF THEY ARE GUILTY... YOU KNOW THE REST.
Nobody's perfect. There are democrats we like, and that Ron Paul also like. Dennis Kucinich is one. Mike Gravel is another. Nobody is all bad or all good. Ron Paul may have more good than bad and that is why we admire and support the guy. But even the most wretched congressman still has some good in him, though it may not be evident. Teddy is dead anyway, so let's move on to something more current.
I'll have to disagree with
I'll have to disagree with one thing you said here. You said:

WOULD RON PAUL APPROVE? DOESN"T SEEM LIKE IT. See below...
Ron Paul Voted YES on requiring photo ID for voting in federal elections. (Sep 2006)

I think RP did that to prevent non-citizens and illegal aliens from voting. I recall Janet Napolitano, when she was governor of Arizona, saying something to the effect of, if someone has a utility bill, proving they reside in Arizona, they could vote in an upcoming Arizona election(I do not recall which election she was referring to), she mentioned nothing about proving they were a citizen or even showing a driver's license. So, the tons of illegal aliens living down there could simply take ultility bills and vote, even though its illegal for illegal aliens to vote in elections like that. But, as has been said many times before, if its illegal for illegal aliens to vote, and there's no real verification to prevent them from voting, then there's nothing stopping them from voting.
Good - thanks
As I said, nobody's perfect !
what about....
Involuntary vehicular homicide?
It was an accident.
You are right. Probably doesn't even quite make it to manslaughter.
But he panicked and did everything wrong. The man was not half as bright as his siblings.
MONEY
We could better spend time figuring ways to raise money and educating people on the real ills of America.
Amen.
Perfect comment on this post.

Honesty Check:
I confess to wishing sometimes that my family was influential enough to give me the best in life while keeping me out of harm's way... even if it is I who harmed myself.
That said, the initial post is how I remember Senator Kennedy. I don't blame Edward for doing what he did, as much as I blame those who surrounded him for protecting him.

Nice eulogy!
Too bad only a few people here on this website will read this truth.
Their mother was a gem,
Their mother was a gem, their father mafia. JFK and RFK took after their mom. Teddy took after their dad.
Not so fast.
In my view they were pretty good. But they continued an assassination plot against Fidel Castro (google Operation 40, or Operation Mongoose). This plot was financed by Howard Hughes, and began during the Eisenhower administration, under Nixon. Nixon and Hughes were close associates.
At first Kennedy tried to close down the operation, but it continued anyway, and later, the same team of assassins that were supposed to kill Castro, turned their skills on Kennedy. See the film 'Executive Action' with Burt Lancaster. It's based on the book by Mark Lane, who also wrote the screenplay.
Bobby Kennedy, as AG, played fast and lose with the law. Carlos Marcello, a known Mafia kingpin in New Orleans was scooped up from the street, arrested and immediately deported to Guatamala. No indictment, trial or anything. Bobby just kidnapped the guy and dropped him off in Central America.
Bobby also mentioned Jimmy Hoffa by name as a target. This is something a lawyer never does, let alone the AG of the United States.
They had good points but were deeply flawed individual. Then again, who isn't?
I mean it in the sense they
I mean it in the sense they were good deep down. When JFK screwed up it was due to misinfo and a conviction he was acting in the interests of the country. Once JFK figured things out his actions followed suit. (I thought at first JFK went along with the Castro assas attempt.)
Convictions against organized crime figures rose by 800 percent when Bobby was AG. I wouldn't characterize him as evil if he targeted mafia members by name. I don't know anything about him deporting Marcello.
A lot of people are flawed and some do terrible things but are decent under it all, but some aren't. Teddy seemed to have a good relationship with his children. I'll give him that.
