The problem with Alex Jones is he doesn't have or want any credibility.
He was responsible for much hysteria around y2k. Even reported ICBMs from Russia were in the air as a result of Y2k, had anyone who took him seriously running for the hills. That's typical of Jones. But he is a disinfo agent and a provocateur.
But Alex Jones is no Patriot. He is frankly not even a conspiracy theorist.
So, it doesn't MATTER what he says one way or anotehr about Ron Paul. The only people who care, are people who don't listen to him.
If you want a real Ron Paul supporter, look at Lew Rockwell.
I used to be big into network marketing or multi-level marketing. You know... the "pyramid schemes" that use word-of-mouth marketing... where a few people tell a few people.. and so on. Even though it is a viable way to build a business, and there are many, many multi-Billion dollar companies that have been built this way, many people don't understand it and think that it is a scam. I worked for Excel Communications, Inc., which at the time was the 4th largest long distance company in the U.S. doing over $4 billion annually, and they never spent a dime on traditional advertising.
In building the business with Excel, I learned a lot about human nature. They taught us that in building our business...
#1 Don't bad-mouth the competition. - It only makes you look bad. To go around screaming, "but they are in the CFR!" about another person's choice for president doesn't help your cause. It just pisses them off.
#2 Don't call it a "pyramid scheme". - Yelling "conspiracy" all the time puts you into a category of being a "kook". That transfers over to the campaign and ends up hurting it more than helping it. While most of Americans believe further investigation into 911 is warranted, most of them DO NOT believe the WTC was brought down by explosives. Saying that only turns them off to the message.
#3 Just because most people should see the light... doesn't mean they will. - The Excel business made sense to me... you switch your long distance to Excel and get paid for using the phone. Get others to do the same... and so on. This allows you to build a large business of people getting paid to do what they already do... talk on the phone. Simple and lucrative and it makes sense... BUT... so many people have lost money in "airplane schemes", ponzi schemes, and even legitimate networking companies... that you have to be gentle and not try and push people in. Campaigning works the same way.
#4 No hype! - No matter how much you believe, you shouldn't jump up and down and scream and yell and get all bent out of shape. Many people made millions in Excel... but we were taught NOT to talk about that. That was unrealistic for most people. Just like the government planting bombs in the WTC without getting caught is unrealistic for most people. Over-hyping, exaggerating... only makes them turn off to the message.
See... if you want Ron Paul to get elected... you have to play the game. The goal is votes.
The way to win people over to the cause is to use the 3 F's : "Feel, Felt, Found"
Feel - "I know how you feel." Felt - "I used to feel the same way." Found - "Until I found out."
For example: "Yeah, John. I know how you feel. I used to feel the same way. I used to think that Ron Paul was just an angry old man. But then I got to reading some of his speeches, and I found out that there's a lot more corruption and misuse in our government than I ever realized."
Another example: "Yeah, I heard about those racist newsletters too. I wonder about that myself. Then I looked on Ron Paul's website and read what he says about those newsletters, and I realized that he didn't say those awful things. Someone else did, and his name was also on the newsletters. That was a long time ago too. He has since disassociated himself from those people. I found out that he is a big advocate for individual rights, etc., etc...."
See...this type of conversation takes away the "you're wrong and I'm right" feeling that so many conspiracy theorists come across with. Look at the posts on this very thread. Now, I realize, the original poster started it, by calling people "idiots", but stooping to their level doesn't help matters. I know how the poster feels. The conspiracy theorists have hurt our campaign because they act like they can't believe that anyone could be duped by the situation. But most of America is duped and you have to realize that. Using the 3 F's is a great way to educate people and ACTUALLY GET THEM TO LISTEN.
and it should be on the front page. The grassroots needs to read this. Most of us including myself are so passionate and have so much to say to those that haven't taken the "red pill" that it's difficult to have a conversation with someone who is not open to new ideas. I personally have found myself becoming very confrontational with those who approach me in attack mode. It was instinctive. This is a very positive post.
I for one, will not sell out the patriot movement in this country to save Ron Paul from smears. Take for example, Naomi Wolf. I bought her book. Alex Jones interviewed her recently. Everyone plays a part in this team effort to elect Ron Paul.
She has clearly educated herself on the issues, but somehow comes off as a hypocrite, believing that Hillary Clinton ISN'T going to continue the current policies and is going to reverse the path we are on.
Naomi is doing good work, but she holds the intellectual status quo position of government socialism. I'd say that she needs to be properly introduced to libertarian philosophy.
The reality of the situation is that Watergate was a conspiracy, Iran Contra was a conspiracy and the assassinatuion of Julius Caesar was a conspiracy. The government's version of 9/11 is a vast global conspiracy of evil terrorists all over the world who hate our freedoms.
People who read the Da Vinci Code and Angels & Demons believe in conspiracies. Most voters believe in conspiracies. There is only a very tiny but vocal minority of people that do not believe in conspiracies.
get a copy of "Tragedy and Hope" by Carroll Quigley. He was a history professor at George Town University. He was also the tutor for Bill Clinton and one of the intellectual elite insiders of the world power brokers. They tried to quash his book in the 60's when it was first published and when you read it, you will see why.
The freedom movement is more than one man. I believe in supporting the liberty and freedom movement on multiple fronts. I patronize those who support both Ron Paul and the freedom movement. Do other people share this view?
My financial contributions to the Ron Paul campaign are signficiant. The no. 1 goal is to support Ron Paul. If you think there is more to this post than there is, there is not. I think the debate is pretty good though!
While I have presented my careful analysis of Jones from 6 years of watching: http://rpmgt.org/JonesEnd... which shows him to be opposite to RP in his spirit and methodology, I fail to see why someone should have their motives suspected for drawing attention to positive articles about RP, unless there is something in those articles that are stirring up trouble.
This is why I started this thred on Prejudice this morning: http://dailypaul.com/node...
Please comment there so we can deal with this huge problem.
Looks like this is going to be a rather involved psychological challenge for us all if you can understand what I am getting at.
good man.....not perfect (who is?), but a ballsy patriot indeed.....he really puts himself on the line by calling all these people out all the time....
Jones and Russo are the messengers. They both encouraged Dr. Paul to run when he didn't think there would be enough support. This introduction via internet radio and "conspiracy" documentaries is what sparked this whole revolution of liberty seekers. They deserve much more credit than they have received.
Alex Jones is a great Man. It's time we all acted like adults (we meaning all of those people NOT on our side) and faced what Alex has been saying for years. I have disbelieved him at times, only to spot check on a few points and found them all to be true. That being said, Alex Jones could help Ron Paul, but in a very limited way.
The freedom movement is more than one man. I believe in supporting the liberty and freedom movement on multiple fronts. I patronize those who support both Ron Paul and the freedom movement. Do other people share this view?
I love Alex Jones. He is a patriot, but we are fighting a war of ideas. The MSM will pull out every dirty trick in their book to stop Dr. Paul. Look at what they did to Kucinich with the UFO. They tried to do that to Dr. Paul in the last debate with the NAU question but he was too smart for them. Alex is an asset but is best used in different ways.
Jones speaks difficult truths, which will alienate people unless they're ready to look at them with an open mind. I think Jones serves as a good source of motivation for RP supporters but I wouldn't advocate using him to bring in new voters. The MSM would totally smear the RP movement if we did that.
ya know....... they make alex jones out to be a kook..and thats because he exposes the one world government traitors in our own country... they make fun of him in the same way they ridicule Ron Paul.. don't turn your back to Alex Jones.. take some time and do some research.. Alex is right on most everything he talks about.. Just like Aaron Russo in freedom to fascism.. you can't correct the problem if you don't know what the problem is!
I don't want to debate whether Jones is right or not, but let me say this. He has a following not doubt, but it is very small. Probably less than 1% of the population. He is frowned upon by many as a kook, now you and I don't have to agree with that, but it is IS a reality. So then you have to ask yourself. Would someone who is considered a kook by a lot of people who are in contorl and power be an asset to Paul's campaign?
Would Ann Coulter be an asset to the campaign? And she absolutely has a following. Would David Duke be an asset and he absolutely has a following?
This is not about who is right or wrong. This is smart campaigning which is a GAME. Now if some people don't agree with that, that's okay, but running for office is a game, especially the Presidency.
On the youtube front his viewership (docus he gave away for free) is huge. He has made huge inroads at Amazon.com, often heading for top ten. He's big enough for Netflix to carry his movie Terrorstorm. His sites have exploded into partnerships. He is now directly associated with several sites:
Look at it this way, he's had everyone from Ann Coulter to Noam Chomsky on, not to mention families who had their own information to offer and their own stories to tell.
the whole reason this country is in the mess it is in is because the American people are sheeple! I know there are many gay people supporting Ron Paul is that a hinderance to Christians who oppose that way of life? Are Christians not going to vote for Ron Paul because of the gays who support him also? what about those in favor of making marijauna legal? are those opposed not going to vote for Ron Paul because a small fraction that wants it legalized are going to vote for him. wether Alex Jones supports Ron Paul or not is not going to make this election go one way or the other.. I as a supporter who wants my liberty and freedom back hope every liberal, conservative, pro abortion- anti abortion -etc..etc..etc. group does vote for him.. I don't care if their views are in opposition to me.. As a Baptist... I welcome the Catholics, Mormons, and every other faith even if they are in opposition to my core beliefs in Chrisitanity.. All I know is this country is in dire shape.. the economy is in recession right now! I don't care what lame stream media is telling us.. we are on the verge of a financial collapse the world has never seen.. we go down and the rest of the world goes down. I read the 2 articles you wrote.. please remember 1 thing.. Jesus said my people PERISH because of lack of knowledge.. if people like Alex Jones are giving the Christian people knowlede that is good. If what Alex tells us is truth backed by facts then why fight against him.. if Alex jones only has a small 1 % following we shouldn't even be discussing this because it is a non matter anyhow.. I guess what I'm saying is the more people we have on board the better off we all are.. where this country is headed is towards total loss of the constitution, and national soveirgnty.
a cival war is being fought right now.. at this point it is threw the ballot box! if Ron Paul is not elected and all the executive orders that give the office of the presidency total control in a time of emergency- tictatorial powers, We then will have a civil war fought threw the barrel of a gun.. I for one with 3 children DOES NOT WANT THAT!.. When you look nat Ron Pauls positions you vote for the those positions, and if you decide not to vote for him because Alex Jones is a supporter then you are very WEEK MINDED!
it will take all shapes , sizes, and colors to get this country on the right track again.... God Bless! RON PAUL IN 08!
I am with you and I feel the same way, but that isn't reality. I have been following Jones and people like him for over 12 years and for about 8 years I thought there would be a revolution around the corner cause everyone would "wake up." They didn't and they won't. Only 3% of the people fought the American Revolution.
Maybe things will change. Let's hope, but i am sceptic. Anyway, Jones isn't really a factor right now, so let's not waste time on it. Let's donate and get new voters in.
You are correct that, for every other candidate, running for office is a game, but Ron Paul politely declines to participate in the game. He simply tells it like it is and stands for what he believes in. Not playing that game is what draws so many people to Paul. He is honest and genuine and people see that.
In addition, his philosophy is one of liberty. It is a testament to the consistency of his philosophy that he does not censure his contributors or his endorsers--to do so would completely discredit his whole philosophy.
To stand for liberty is to fight for someone else's right to say and do things that you don't personally believe in.
I see what you are saying, but you cannot go into a casino and participate and then say you don't want to play "their" game. The Presidential campaign is a game. if you enter you are going to play the game. Now you can play it somewhat your way. For example, candidates in the past have taken the so called highway and not done dirty and negative ads and been defeated. Sure Paul doesn't have to do that, but I guarantee he will lose if they smear him left and right and doesn't fight back and do the same. That is the way it works unfortunately.
You can run the way you want it to be. You have to run they way it is. the MSM are not going to cater to your method of running and neither are the other candidates.
The point isn't whether Alex is right or wrong. It is about how he is perceived by a lot of people. And NO, Paul doesn't share Alex view on the Masons, Illuminati, Bohemian Society or some big grand conspiracy to enslave the people. I'm sure of that. In fact he already denounced it at the last debate that CFR wasn't a grand sinister conspiracy. You guys can support Jones and listen to him all you want, I do to, but I am not going to suggest that tying him to Paul's campaign is a good idea. Hell, I have family members and friends I wouldn't recommend for jobs.
Thank you so much for posting that second link. I was actually drawn to this campaign after watching dozens of videos on youtube, starting with 9/11 and somehow wound up watching a Ron Paul video. It gave me hope, and now months later I have even more hope.
My sister said to me one say - I appreciate you sending me information about whats "going on" but at the same time I dont know how to process it, and I find myself in a constant state of anxiety. I realized the same thing was happening to me - So although Alex might be right on about so much of what he tries to bring to the publics attention, without any hope - whats the point?
Ron Paul gives us HOPE FOR AMERICA - Regardless of the ideologies out there, and what the blueprint may be, Dr. Paul offers a rational was of restoring our Republic to what it can be - based on the same concepts and precepts of our founding fathers.
I agree with a lot of what he says. But it is way that it is presented that turns so many people off. When I used to loan out his videos 5 years ago I would get the same responses. It made people suspect the things he said. Ron Paul is totally the opposite spirit.
Don't be so sure that RP doesn't share basically all of Jones' beliefs. Dr. Paul is way too observant and intelligent to miss something as big as the 911 cover up. My guess is that he realizes that it would be assured political (possibly literal) suicide for a presidential candidate to start crusading for 911 truth. His hands are tied at this point. The sad part is that he would probably win on a 911 truth platform. More people are truthers than you think. All of Alex Jones' movies go completely viral on Google Video. Not to mention the numerous polls that show that at least half the population knows the official story is a complete fraud. Now, you might disagree, but if you're an RP supporter, I can't see how you would have trouble accepting the notion that the popularity of an idea or person can be greatly suppressed and downplayed by the MSM. We've all seen it before. I personally love Alex, and listen to his show religiously.
This shouldn't be it's own thread.
The problem with Alex Jones is he doesn't have or want any credibility.
He was responsible for much hysteria around y2k. Even reported ICBMs from Russia were in the air as a result of Y2k, had anyone who took him seriously running for the hills. That's typical of Jones. But he is a disinfo agent and a provocateur.

is a huge credibility loser.

My 2 cents.
This should be it's own thread
and it should be on the front page.
What...
should I title it... so it gets more attention?
F this, F that, F everything...
just a thought, for your title. I agree though that it should be a forum topic on its own. Very good info.

I reposted it to my meetup
I reposted it to my meetup group forum (credit to you of course) as "great tips for talking to confrontational people", but that's not very catchy.
maybe "Reaching the other 96%?" or "4% of us 'Get It', how to talk to the others:"?
No Judas
I for one, will not sell out the patriot movement in this country to save Ron Paul from smears. Take for example, Naomi Wolf. I bought her book. Alex Jones interviewed her recently. Everyone plays a part in this team effort to elect Ron Paul.
Naomi Wolf doesn't make sense to me
She has clearly educated herself on the issues, but somehow comes off as a hypocrite, believing that Hillary Clinton ISN'T going to continue the current policies and is going to reverse the path we are on.
I agree...
Naomi is doing good work, but she holds the intellectual status quo position of government socialism. I'd say that she needs to be properly introduced to libertarian philosophy.
"Conspiracy Theorists" polling better than Giuliani an Ron Paul
We all need to get off the conspiracy theory bashing.
According to recent polls, 42.5% of Americans believe 9/11 was a conspiracy, which is much better than either Rudy Giuliani or Ron Paul are polling.
56.3% think Bush exploited the 9/11 attacks for his own gain, which is Ron Paul's position.
Complete poll results:
Press TV/Zogby International Poll Results

Here is another recent poll with similar results:
Zogby Poll: 51% of Americans Want Congress to Probe Bush/Cheney Regarding 9/11 Attacks; Over 30% Seek Immediate Impeachment
67% also fault 9/11 Commission for not investigating anomalous collapse of World Trade Center 7

Alex Jones stands with the majority of Americans.
You want proof of conspiracies?????

I am with you and I feel the same way, but that isn't reality. I have been following Jones and people like him for over 12 years and for about 8 years I thought there would be a revolution around the corner cause everyone would "wake up." They didn't and they won't. Only 3% of the people fought the American Revolution.
Maybe things will change. Let's hope, but i am sceptic. Anyway, Jones isn't really a factor right now, so let's not waste time on it. Let's donate and get new voters in.

I respectfully disagree
You are correct that, for every other candidate, running for office is a game, but Ron Paul politely declines to participate in the game. He simply tells it like it is and stands for what he believes in. Not playing that game is what draws so many people to Paul. He is honest and genuine and people see that.
In addition, his philosophy is one of liberty. It is a testament to the consistency of his philosophy that he does not censure his contributors or his endorsers--to do so would completely discredit his whole philosophy.
To stand for liberty is to fight for someone else's right to say and do things that you don't personally believe in.
I see what you are saying,
I see what you are saying, but you cannot go into a casino and participate and then say you don't want to play "their" game.

I'm not so sure that helps
I'm not so sure that helps Paul.

Why not?
Ron Paul talks about and warns against the North American Union and SUPPORTS the Constitution - as does Alex Jones.
So what if they have minor differences of opinion regarding 9/11?
What about the other 99.9% of issues?
Is someone's entire worth based on how they feel about the 9/11 topic, pro or con?
The point isn't whether Alex

Thank You
Thank you so much for posting that second link.
Sorry posted this in the wrong place
Meant to post it to the person who linked to the end game analysis article.
Thanks for the confirmation
I agree with a lot of what he says. But it is way that it is presented that turns so many people off. When I used to loan out his videos 5 years ago I would get the same responses. It made people suspect the things he said. Ron Paul is totally the opposite spirit.

Don't be so sure...
Amen.
