Camera Surveillance Protest in Lancaster, PA

For those unaware, a battle is being fought in Lancaster, PA - in the midst of rural Amish country - to remove the cameras in the USA's top spying network run by a public-private partnership.

EXCELLENT ~

I LUV the quote @ the end of his speech!

As Thomas Paine once said, “If there must be trouble, let it be in my day, that my child may have peace.”

The cameras we see

The cameras we see everywhere can be seen two ways. We are told that they are primarily used to deter crime, or to provide evidence of criminal actions. And this is true. Cameras do in fact make it more difficult to engage in criminal activity, or to escape.

At the same time, we don't like the idea of being under surveillance. One of the hall marks of a police state is the idea of almost constant surveillance. Other aspects of a police state are also becoming a reality: vague laws written so that almost anyone is guilty of some "crime" depending on how the law is interpreted, enticing members of the general public to become informers, and the most ominous, the continual passing of "emergency" legislation to give the Executive Branch powers to deal with "emergencies". These laws, which are unconstitutional (since the Congress does not have the authority to increase the power of the Executive Branch without amending the Constitution) are the equivalent of the Enabling Act that gave Hitler the powers he demanded.

There is little we can do to reverse technology. What we need to do is to make it work for us. We need to always have a camera close at hand. We need to be ready to photograph illegal activity. We need to be able to identify those individuals who are in the hire of those who wish to destroy our freedoms. And we need to stay on good terms with law enforcement.

Yeah except one small

Yeah except one small problem, they always conveniantly throw the video tape out saying it is unconstitutional. On the other hand, when the time comes, they will have it real handy.

If they were to try this in my town, I have two words,,, click, click

"The price of Freedom is Eternal Vigilance"- Thomas Jefferson

If ever a time should come, when vain and aspiring men shall possess the highest seats in Government, our country will be in need of its experienced patriots to prevent its ruin." - Samuel Adams, 1776

Lancaster, PA

Lots of Amish folks there, what's their take on this?

Some Amish guys were putting a roof on one of our local landmarks and I asked if I could take a picture. They said, "OK, if you don't show our faces."

Very ironic indeed!

"It was somewhat ironic that the taxpayer was paying these officers to watch us peacefully protest the “public safety” system of cameras instead of having them patrol the areas."

" These cameras must come down and one day they WILL be taken down. It is only a question of which tools to use. "
