Testing a new spam filter on the Daily Paul today

Hi Friends,

I'm testing a new spam filter today on the Daily Paul. The spammers have been out in force recently. The other morning I woke up to find the entire Active Forum topics overrun with bogus spam postings. They register and start submitting new topics, one after the other. Not only is it a pain, but they could potentially damage the site. I've been closing up new registrations overnight recently as a result. They still get through from time to time during the day.

So I'm testing a new spam filter today. The last time I tried it, it was catching a lot of valid comments & forum topics, so I had to disable it. I've made some tweaks and I'm watching it closely today. So far it seems to be working better, but not perfect. It has caught a few valid comments & nodes. Please be patient if you don't see your topic or comments show up immediately. I'm keeping an eye on this today and I'll keep you updated.

1. don't allow new people to post for 1 day. spammers will go somewhere else and not likely come back.

2. don't allow link posting for another couple days or;
make new users moderated if they contain any links.
