I have an idea.

I got me an idea: (I think this could be good :)
http://www.youtube.com/wa...

I'm talking this for our libertarian movement:
http://s165.photobucket.c...

Why?

1. It ties into the r3VOLution perfectly.. without being the r3VOLution. Those who have looked into our movement have, and those who haven't by now, aren't going to. We need to separate ourselves from the republicans and now is the time.

2. It can be a powerful message to raise up a "libertarian" party, a true anti-war party and can pull numbers from both sides of the isle.

2. It is obviously about asking questions and waking up.

4. This is the perfect response to the racist slurs thrown at our movement. We are fighting each other instead of the real problems.

5. It draws people in as opposed to scaring them away (the obama/joker picture is viewed by many as offensive so they write us off instead of looking into things).

6. It is attractive to the youth and attractive to the opposition.

7. Let people discover on their own what it means exactly. They will, and we will help educate and answer their questions.

Maybe we get a web-site that just list the questions we want people to ask, this encourages them to seek out answers.

Better to slap up Ron Paul flyers

i like it!

...it is smart, engaging, and just different enough to be widely accepted!

quiltingsando is an excellent artisan and you have done very well, lynnopoly, to bring together these two forward thinking ideas!

i'll take 100!

O Captain! My Captain! Rise up and hear the bells!

I believe that the following Ron Paul 2012 sign could fulfill,

all of lynopoly's 7 items mentioned above.

By tying Ron Paul to the national anthem, and also associating Ron Paul to an obscure symbol (courtesy of quiltingsando), we can mesmerize the populace.

http://mysite.verizon.net...

This is only my opinion, I am sure we got talented people here who could refine the image and the publicity.

This message can't lose in my opinion.

Let's gear up for the next battle!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SirFelix

I love that sign*))
Thank you for your email and nice words - made my day!

if we create stir enough activist energy passion I think Ron will choose to run for prez.

Really? Wow, I'm glad you got to see it.

Look at some of the related videos..
johnny rotten of the Sex pistols (the other guest) had obvious admiration for the man. they shook hands at the end of the show..and Johnny pointed to Ron during his performance, calling him Mr. president or something like that.

I think there is some merit in this

I like your determination and realization that we need to make some big waves. Not following exactly on the party thing, but it will all sift out. Keep up the mental gymnastics and TAKE ACTION.

Wouldn't we just help sell records for that band?

What about that cool symbol quiltingsando made?

So? Maybe they'll jump on board.. maybe not.. who cares..

Why do we need only one symbol? I'm thinking of tying ? symbol and the lyrics to a movement about Peace, Love, Education, Liberation and Freedom. http://www.politicallore....

Bump

quilingsando's tree of liberty Is a powerful symbol to me.

Agreed. But me thoughts are that this needs very little

explanation. The song is widely recognized, and to boot, my guess is that the Black Eyed Peas are from a democratic slant.. this could actually help our numbers and gain us the Ross Perot's and the Ralph Nader's those that would gladly join our libertarian powerhouse provided they actually learned where we are coming from. Now I also think the best way to teach is to lead others to find the truth themselves... this is the power behind the symbol..

do we need the rights to use

do we need the rights to use this song?

Not if were not plagiarizing.. And we are using the symbol

the song is secondary

Riddle me this, Batman!!

if anything, we're an exclamation point.

!

You're right, while we question authority, we're the only ones with any solid answers.
Lynopoly, it's not new, but how about a big question mark shape with text inside, such as 'Question Authority" or another fitting short motto.
Another I like is: Whatever the question, Freedom is the answer.

.

Love it, but I don't think we need to push people into any party, let them decide on their own, but let them know there are some people out there who, 1) care, 2) Who are smart 3) will stand together, 4) will stand up to power, 5) who will welcome EVERYONE, especially those who are asleep

I think a lot of what keeps me from having people come to the DP is the nasty tone from most people when you disagree. Maybe a website with no user comments.

I have a website with a kicka$$ domain name that we can use if you would like, just contact me, it is not being used right now.

I can walk around NYC and do this, I think it's a great idea.

I like it! Agreed 110%

If you wont fight for the right when you can easily win...you may...have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance for survival [or] when there is no chance of victory...it's better to perish than to live as slaves.
W.Churchill

Outstanding. Lynnopoly

I have been thinking the SAME thing. They are trying to lump us with the Republicans as racists. They are trying to link us with Beck warmonger.
WE HAVE TO STAND APART and make it clear WHAT WE STAND FOR.
You have brought up a VERY IMPORTANT issue that needs to be discussed. Bravo!

Thank you :) I just am afraid to go to all this work

when my personal world is crumbling around me to find that people aren't on board.. I happen to think this could work.. but.. ya' know?

Dear lynnopoly,

I love your idea, but the video and the song, and the question mark doesn't feel right to me. Items 1 through 7 are definitely what we need.

But to deliver on items 1 through 7, I think we need a different symbol or song.

I can't say what symbol or song would be appropriate, but with the way the country is going, I am feeling outrage, anger, frustration, determination, love of true patriots, love of country, respect for the Constitution, disdain for those who betray the Constitution.

Can we think of another symbol/song.

THIS COULD BE A REALLY GREAT THING !

To me, belief in the Left/Right Paradigm is what has crippled this nation by corruption.

Thanks

I always thought this would be the one

http://www.youtube.com/wa...

I know I'm not alone, by Michael Franti

he'd probably let us use it too

second verse

Everytime I read the news
I'm always more confused
They're tellin' me to choose
But there's only lies to choose from
And how many died today
How many lost thier homes or shot a gun
Or a loved one
What happened to our sons

But I know, I know, I know I'm not alone
And I know, I know, I know I'm not alone

How old are you?

The reason why I ask, is that there is a video on YouTube called "The Government Can", hilarious because it is so true. But if you look at the stats, mostly older people aged 35-45 like this video.

We need to invigorate the young people of this nation.

I am 45, probably living in a cave, because I never heard of the song you posted.

But, I found it to be Great!

Is this what the younger generation likes?

If we can ignite the young to action, to fight beside us, we can't lose.

thanks

There isn't a genre for the

There isn't a genre for the entire young generation. I'm 21 and I can't stand black eyed peas, just not my style. Much better choices to ignite the young around me but it's not going to be just one song..Beside the black eyed peas did a video for Obama if you forgot...

A lot of more popular underground (non-mainstream/lobbied) artists have a much more clear message that doesn't sing about 20" chrome rims and money.

Just one example...

Lies will spawn, hey, are you conscious what side you're on?
Is the total story told or is it they hide you from?
Why are we, on the brink of murderin' more innocent?
Now we slide, we're patriotic and so militant

Get ya ride on, rise on, take a look
They done even takin' righteous laws, rewrote the books
To benefit the prize they got they eyes on
Minds run rampant, to be revealed when the proper time comes
Brain washers

Tryin' man, I'm tryin', lies and lies ain't buyin'
Where do I go, where do I go?
Tryin' yes, I'm strivin', lies and lies ain't buyin'
How does it go?

Brain washers, it's when you think how they wanna think
Speak, how they wanna speak, livin' in defeat
When you don't wanna question what they teach, as the truth
With no proof, with the fear of burnin' in eternal heat

When your programmed not to be your own man, but a sheep
Bein' heard as they word it, so you think it ain't free
When you sleep in a deep sleep, standin' on your feet
When your beat makin' ends meat, raw, thin and they see

Now your labeled obsolete, workin' for relief [Incomprehensible]
In the heat on bare feet, smile, showin' off your teeth
Good grief, it's a [Incomprehensible] how they work it
And they jerk it, while they surf, plus the surf keeps
The [Incomprehensible] underneath the brain washers

Just turned 28

I never got on the "government can" train because it just sounded, well I don't know, too showtuney for me.

Glad you enjoyed that one, he's a great artist and made a fantastic movie with the same name as that song, and he travelled to the middle east and met with locals and soldiers.

he does have have some songs that are in question, but for the most part he is a human, and wants us all to "stay human"

The younger generation seems to really like the original poster's song / band, unfortunately they aren't making music like that anymore and we need someone to carry the torch, they make party music now, lacking any meaning or substance.

There are a lot of bands out there, but we need something non-threatening but still geared towards the youth, when I find it I will share. As for now, Franti will do

It meant a lot to me, because, I was young,

when the "Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" debuted.

but I believe that young people who weren't even alive at the time, don't understand, even if they saw the rerun.

We need young people, we need all people.

Thanks

We will win

Yes we do need young people, and thanks to your son you're getting in touch with them!

Rage Against the Machine and Cake are great. We just need to get people like that to make the full circle to Libertarian leaning Republicans instead of Pop Culture Democrats.

Do not get caught up with labels.

There is no difference between the Republicans and the Democrats.

They are both owned by the bankers and the corporations.

We need to elect people who will abide by the Constitution which was written to restrain the government.

agreed.

agreed.

thank you,

I live vicariously through my 17 year old son, and he has turned me on to "rage against the machine", "cake", and "system of a down".

Thanks again.

I think that brings up a good point

Those bands you mentioned were in the height of their popularity back when your son was kindergarten. He probably didn't know about them until much later. Kids recognize when something rings true to them regardless of how new or old it is. Music tends to transcend generations. If they haven't heard it before, it's new to them and something of a discovery. It doesn't need to be new to reach people.

As far as this Black Eyed Peas song, it's a little old to me and I never really cared much for the group but hearing it again in light of present circumstances it took on new significance. I doubt any youth still think they're popular anymore and won't flock to them (is the group even still together?) but I think the message of the song still rings true. I'd like to see a Ron Paul video montage set to that song.

Are you kidding me?

The currently have two of the hottest songs in the country right now. See #1 and #15: http://www.mtv.com/music/...

Here are the videos:

#15: http://www.youtube.com/wa...

#1: http://www.youtube.com/wa...

ok, so i guess they are popular

I wrote them off to early. You never know what people will like. By all means If you think you can reach people with it, go for it.

I gotta be honest though, and I don't mean to offend anyone, we all have our own taste in music, but those last two songs were terrible. I'm not just hating, I enjoy some of their songs, but how did these get popular? wow. I had my doubt about youtube view counts before but someone has got to be rigging the system on this. +13,000,000 views? I don't know whats sadder, the counts being rigged or the view counts being real.

Get this:

Since their breakout album Elephunk in 2003, the group's hip hop/dance pop-oriented style has sold an estimated 20 million albums worldwide and 13 million singles. The group is one of only eleven artists to have ever held the number 1 and 2 spots on the Billboard Hot 100 at the same time. With 24 consecutive weeks at No. 1, the Peas push past Usher's record for most consecutive frames atop the Hot 100 (Usher lasted at the top for 19 weeks with the hits "Yeah!" and "Burn" in 2004). Before Black Eyed Peas, Will.I.Am and Apl.De.Ap were in a group called The Atban Klann signed to Eazy E's Ruthless Records.

From Elephunk came "Where is the Love?", a single featuring Justin Timberlake which became Black Eyed Peas' first major hit, peaking at #8 on the U.S. Hot 100, but topping the charts practically everywhere else, including six weeks at #1 in the UK where it became the biggest-selling single of 2003. The single had similar results in Australia, staying at #1 for 6 weeks as well. In an interview with TalkofFame.com, Taboo shared that Justin Timberlake’s split with Britney Spears impacted the recording of "Where Is The Love?".

.

I totally agree with you, I never really liked that song until today. The problem with doing montages to that kind of popular music on youtube is that they take it down so fast and all of your work is for nothing. We need to try and get the rights to someone, that is why I am pushing for Michael Franti, I think we'd actually have a shot at getting it.

I have always felt the song I associate with Dr. Paul often is

a very good one - Tom Petty's "Stand My Ground" . What could say better that we stand by our principles, by the Constitution, by the Rule of Law, by our rights...than this song? I think it embodies Dr. Paul's very long fight all these years.

This is a beautiful song however, and though my first thought was what's with the question mark...after thinking about it and listening to the song which asks "where is the LOVE" and then thinking about the "look" of the word love in the r3volution signs I guess I can see where you are coming from. Wonder if BEP's are trying to say something without saying it if you know what I mean...

*What you don't know CAN hurt you.*

I love Tom Petty

Well I won't back down, no I won't back down
you could stand me up at the gates of hell
but I won't back down

Gonna stand my ground, won't be turned around
and I'll keep this world from draggin' me down
gonna stand my ground and I won't back down

Chorus
Hey baby, there ain't no easy way out
hey I will stand my ground
and I won't back down

Well I know what's right, I got just one life
in a world that keeps on pushin' me around
but I'll stand my ground and I won't back down

Hey baby there ain't no easy way out
hey I will stand my ground
and I won't back down
No, I won't back down

-----------------------------------------------------------------

This could be a winner IMHO.

I also thought about a different Tom Petty song,

A song called "Something in the Air"

Call out the instigators
Because there's something in the air
We've got to get together sooner or later
Because the revolution's here
And you know it's right
And you know that it's right

We have got to get it together
We have got to get it together now

Lock up the streets and houses
Because there's something in the air
We've got to get together sooner or later
Because the revolution's here
And you know it's right
And you know that it's right

We have got to get it together
We have got to get it together now

Hand out the arms and ammo
We're going to blast our way through here
We've got to get together sooner or later
Because the revolution's here
And you know it's right
And you know that it's right

We have got to get it together
We have got to get it together
Now

---------------------------------------------------------

And then I thought that the young people
of this nation, are our future, and as such,
they may have different ideas as to what is cool
or rad or sick or the bomb or whatever.

This is where my 45 year old mind is lost.

If you are in-tune with the young people, what would they say?

Sir Felix I love TP too!!

Don't get me started! ;)

So many of his songs are applicable! "Jammin' Me", "The Waiting" and "Learning to Fly" being some of my favs! Also with The Traveling Wilbury's, "Handle with Care" and "End of the Line" come to mind. "Saving Grace" and "This Old Town" from "Highway Companion" are my current faves and worthy of checking out if you've not heard them yet. :)

"Something in the Air" was a cover of Thunderclap Newman from 1969.

awesome. perfectly timed blimps! perfect song

.

When Ron walked out to "I won't back down" for the R4R I almost lost it, I had been playing it over and over in my car on my way to and from work for the weeks leading up to that, because it really embodied what Ron was all about.

I love that song.

Don't count out the CIA

I believe there are folks in the Intelligence Directorate of the CIA and folks in Naval Intelligence that are on our side. The folks I am referring to are doing everything they can to help us from the inside. Are there terrorists in the CIA? yep! I think it is realistic to infer that the number of terrorists in the CIA are a small percentage of the total number of CIA employees.

Am I some CIA shill? Fuck no! I probably been here longer than you! I am just saying that there are some good people on the inside trying to help us. Many times we do not see the good they do, or the successes they have in preventing our leaders from taking us to war with Iran or N. Korea. Occasionally the people I am referring to do score one for our side. Because MSM is controlled by the enemy, the scoreboard does not reflect the real occasional touchdowns.

I loved the Black Eyed Peas vid. Thx :) I just wanted to offer an alternative viewpoint.
