G20 Protest: Girl Throws Bike At Police & Live Arrest On TV.

National Guard, police, and other military units attacked American citizens with tear gas and deployed sound cannons today in response to an unpermitted protest as bedlam hit the streets on the first day of the G20 summit in downtown Pittsburgh.

Cops are trying to provoke.
Cops are trying to provoke. you would almost think they want in insurrection.
They are too chicken to take on the real protesters.
They are like criminals looking for marks.
These cops
were obviously trying to start something. Both sets of cops were pushing for no good reason. It is my understanding that they want videos like this out there because it intimidates the public. Makes people stay home and stop talking out against the government.

Some have tried to justify the police antics...
...by citing the damage that's being done by rowdy protesters to local businesses.
So...
Why were the police wasting time and resources in instances like this when there was destruction going on elsewhere in the city?
There was no crisis here. No vandals breaking windows, starting fires, turning cars over. Not even any protesters.
Why were these riot police amassing and intimidating a few harmless onlookers who appear to be doing nothing more than observing the unusual police activity?
Why attack some cameraman who was causing no problems and was merely filming the monstrous police display?
Oops, I think I answered my own question.
I think the girl
thought that she was pushed/shoved by the same cop twice... the first one was bad enough, but the second shove which came from a different cop which I think she probably thought was the same cop caused her to say NO! and she turned to defend herself against the cop who she saw push her the first time thinking he had shoved her a second time. I say good job girl! I would have done the same or more put in that situation. To bad she and many others did not have baseball bats. Why is everyone such WIMPS?!

Link updated with girl's side of the story.
"Wasson, who was charged with of aggravated assault against a police officer, she told her side of the story to WTAE Channel 4 Action News on Saturday.
“A girl got knocked down in front of me and I had my bike with me, so I was trying to go around the girl and help her up. I was yelling at the cop, 'Please, let his girl up. Please stop, let her up.' And, they were just yelling, 'Move,' and taking their bikes and physically hitting people with their bikes," Wasson said."
http://www.thepittsburghchannel.com/news/21118413/detail.html
We know she was moving out, as seen in the video and evidenced by the question Team 4 put forth to the police spokesperson.
' Team 4 asked the Pittsburgh Police Bureau why officers shoved Wasson while she was moving in sync with the rest of the crowd. Police spokeswoman Diane Richard said Wasson was "asked to disperse repeatedly and ignored the warnings. She was obstructing traffic at the intersection of Bellefield and Forbes." '
So they had to have been talking about something before the clip we saw.
The girl's account seems to put a little perspective on that.
Regardless, the police could've detained or arrested her when she was ignoring and obstructing.
..Instead, they waited til she was complying and moving out and then attacked her. :(
Riot police pushing the crowd forward....
...a girl dislikes being shoved and throws her bike at the riot police.
You expected a 'thank you' card?
While I think the response of the police is excessive (and usually so) it would serve everyone to remember that when you are confronted by a prepared, readied force intent on removing you from an area, futile gestures like throwing bikes and yelling through bullhorns are tantamount to reading the constitution to a goldfish.
I may not know the truth, but I know when I'm being lied to...
I may not know the truth, but I know when I'm being lied to...
Don't LRAD me dude!
"By order of the City of Pittsburgh Chief Police, I hereby declare this to be an unlawful assembly. I order all those assembled to immediately disperse, you must leave the immediate vicinity. If you you remain in this immediate vicinity, you will be in violation of Pennsylvania Crimes Code, no matter what your purpose is."
You see folks, people have the right to peaceably assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievences, you just have to ask permission from the government first. Get it? Just ask permission first so you don't get LRADed.

She must be a liberal
No one is putting up to bail her out
She is out, according to Meistersinger's link way below.
" Lauren Wasson, who was seen on video Thursday night throwing a bicycle at police during a G-20 protest, was released from the Allegheny County Jail after posting $10,000 dollars bond."

Sticks and stones may break your bones
and the G20 cops can really hurt you. The politicians (police) working behind our backs know (like the fed) what's best for the world. Do what they say or deal with more painful consequences.
Good job by the cops to show what can happen if you don't run and go away fast enough when ordered to do so. Might makes right, nothing new here! Move along now, must maintain order. Who's order, certainly not the people's? How many people showed up to show their support of G20?
Where is the love? Shameful!

.
and then you die
They've arrested the wrong
They've arrested the wrong person don't you think? This girl from all appearances on the video was orderly, moving along appropriately and was assaulted by two different men in uniform. Surely she has a case for 'unprovoked assault' against these two hired 'thugmen' in uniform.
WOW!
I was thinking about this whole video and wondering if I would do the exact same thing she did to that PIG? I mean she was trying to move but that PIG behind her was just a relentless prick! Also I was thinking that "dang" were we (The US of a$$ wholes) just talking crap about the way the Iranian Government treated it's people but we did the exact same thing to our's:) Super funny right? haha!
All I can think about and all I have thought about in the last year is how many guns is ok for me to buy before I have to many?
I would say about 25% of my income go's towards bullets and thats been for the last nine months.
I have always hated police and most likely this will never change!
I mean this young lady was of no threat to all one thousand or so PIG's at this protest. They could of just tossed the bike in the middle of the street and she would have grabbed it and split. They look like a bunch of chicken $hit douche bags picking on a maybe and I say maybe 110 LBS girl.
I think this "Country" has allot of angst and resentment built up and when the top of that bottle pop's man oh man look out because The Man is going to have a real fight on there hands. All these pissed people.
There is only so much a people will take before the people take:)
WTF!
A much sharper video

I would be surprised if she did not sustain injuries as a result of this...
I like the pan at the end to the arriving police van with the "To protect and serve" slogan....
Im sure these goons watch the YouTube vids like everyone else
from the viewer comments they must know that we all know that they're ..."little".
I laughed.
She threw a bike at a cop, which is assault. What did she expect to happen?
Don't write checks your ass can't cash.
I'm much more disturbed by the video of the soldiers kidnapping a protester in the middle of a crowd.
Kidnapped? I doubt it . . .
They were probably getting their provocateurs out of the way. I think those guys were just in the crowd to stir up trouble. Notice the cops didn't harm him, just shoved him into a car. Seems to me they would have pounded on him a bit if it were a real protester.

What's it called when the thug assaults her?
I suppose all the pushing and shoving was just that wussbag's way of 'doing his job' to serve and protect, right?
By Tirade's standards it problably is
"We are all born ignorant, but one must work hard to remain stupid."- Benjamin Franklin
Yeah, very funny!
They were clubbing her while she was trapped and gave her no way to escape. hehehe. So she gave up in frustration and pushed back for a split second and learned her lesson FAST! Yeah, they showed HER! LOL....
Yah
From what's in this clip, this person is hit from behind twice with nowhere to go. The second time is just after he/she dismounts from the bike in an effort to move better. The charge is most likely aggravated assault against a police officer w/weapon, however this person does have a right to defend themselves. It's a defensive move. I say they get off.
Obviously those cops were on the hunt
for people to arrest, they were picking fights like bullies on a playground, only they are giants in riot gear smashing compliant citizens. They are unprofessional sickos who are unworthy of public service.
Hyperbolize much?
"Clubbing"? Seriously?
She got pushed along the sidewalk. That's hardly the violent beatdown that "clubbing" implies, and certainly not enough to justify throwing a bike at a cop.
She deserved it for her overreaction.
I might have more sympathy if she wasn't the part of the group that smashed the windows of a small mom & pop diner that has supported the local community for decades. Yeah, you're really going to fight the G-20 and globalization by destroying a small local business and driving a family into debt. Then again, these are the same people who routinely smash store windows and light stuff on fire after a football or basketball win, so I shouldn't be surprised. Idiots.
She was pushed with clubs, so I said clubbed
I think you hyperbolize when you say,"She deserved it."
"I laughed."
Well, that's your verdict, and that reveals your low standards for police conduct, and nothing I can say will encourage you to lift them. Do you also watch videos of people getting tased for fun? Because they all must "deserve it" or the police wouldn't have done it, right? Apparently anyone who challenges authority is free game for the full spectrum of physical abuse in your book.
There's a time and place for
There's a time and place for civil disobedience. Throwing your bike at a cop (yes, throwing...the front wheel ended up in the cop's face; that doesn't happen from mere shoving) after your group just wantonly smashed up a few stores for fun (which brought in the riot police in the first place) is not one of them.
Stop treating this like some kind of Rodney King-style beatdown. It's not. It's someone who should have been smart enough to fight back by filing a complaint and publicizing it than stupidly trying to assault a cop on camera and having it go on her police record. Good luck trying to get a job now, honey. Hope it was worth it.
That wheel
ends up know where neat the cops face. Mid chest arms extended with a bill club. No where near his face. The face shot came just after to that girls face. WTF is wrong with you.
PROVE
her group wantonly smashed windows and tell me why they weren't arrested, if they were so obviously the suspects. You cling to this totally unsubstantiated claim.
If her group DIDN'T smash windows, are the cops still justified in shoving her around before the bike incident? Yes? Why?
How do you know she was part of ANY group
get real. She got pushes by the nice heavily armed small guy. Tough guy. I wish I was that tough.
It was reported before that this was a girl
but it sure looks like a boy to me. It doesn't look like he was going so slow that he deserved a push from the cop. And the push was not a gentle, kind thing.
What does it mean by Oakland? Must be Pennsylvania, not California??
Oakland is the name of a
Oakland is the name of a neighborhood in Pittsburgh. It's full of college students and there are riots there every time there is a sports victory. There was a similar riot in the area complete with broken store windows earlier this year when the Steelers won the Superbowl.
I'm all for protesting the G-20 but the people you see in this video are drunk college students who either treat it like a big game or are just itching for a fight.
Having spent several years living in this particular neighborhood, I know the mentality of these idiots from unfortunate personal experience. These people couldn't even tell you what the G-20 is and why they are "protesting" if you asked them.
According to the girl's supervisor...
...from the article Meistersinger posted below, "Wasson took off work Thursday night so she could check out the G-20 protests."
http://www.thepittsburghchannel.com/news/21118413/detail.html
Also, apparently the local news didn't think she was resisting the orders to move out, as evidenced by this part of the article: "Team 4 asked the Pittsburgh Police Bureau why officers shoved Wasson while she was moving in sync with the rest of the crowd."
Maybe it wasn't the wisest thing to do to go down there, but all we know here is that:
1) Her boss said the girl wanted to ~check out the protests~.
2) She certainly appeared to be complying with the order to move out, as she was moving in sync with the group clearing out as ordered.
3) She was attacked by the officers as she was attempting to clear out as ordered.
4) The bike was shoved at the officers AFTER they began their attack on her.
There is NOTHING to indicate she had anything to do with the vandalism.
I despise the vandalism and destructive behavior, but why are some people ready to heap all the blame for it on this girl?
Aren't there people somewhere who WERE actually guilty of the destruction? Perhaps the blame would be better placed on them.
Wow
thanks for the education. There is always more to a story, isn't there!!
Wow is right
now she was drunk, in a University area. College kid going back to the dorm I'd say.
Yeah
it's just AMAZING how much we know about this person who deserved it! I'll bet he or she also voted for Obama and works for Greenpeace and wants to reduce the earth's population. Someone below hinted at that...must be true. We have a full, psychic jury here!
This is the same things
that have been going on forever but usually it is a one on one encounter with no witness to back up an individual's story, your even told who do you think their going to believe me or you... The only reason it hit the TV is it happened where the G20 was taking place and to many camera's recording history, the free ad's for the store's that unfortunately now have to deal with broken windows, but also I question who broke the windows, the faces and actions I observed just didn't fit. When you look at all the faces do you not see total shock? When I first saw it I wondered what country? Then it was my turn to be shocked. Pass this video on to all of America, the sleeping needs to know what other countries have known for a long time. A country never loses it freedom over night it's little by little. Stand up and be counted, but most of all, remember... it is staged so people fight back, pictures speak louder than words that can be changed by news entertainment puppets, but a passive person being beat, it will be hard to take, but seeing will bring believing. As individuals take responsibilty now you are the protector's of Dr. Paul, don't leave you post.
This is just STUPID!
I don't know who these "protesters" are, but I suspect that they may be Acorn operatives, or some other group of agents provacateur. We need the police and the National Guard (I am a former Guardman) on our side. With the Department of Homeland Terrorism poisoning the minds of law enforcement and the military against anyone who dares question their larcenous and treasonous policies, we don't need to make their case for them.
Most police officers and military personnel are patriotic Americans. We need to avoid confrontation with them. We need to stay within the law, avoiding any violent or questionable activity. At the same time, we need to keep them informed of our actions, and point out the real criminals.
Who cares WHO the protesters are?
In America, you're supposed to say:
"I may not agree with what you say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it."
That girl was attacked by police, not the other way around. How about the POLICE staying "within the law, avoiding any violent or questionable activity"?
That's what made it easy to support Nader
An Independent has the right to be on the ballot.
Local news reported that some
of the Riot police were from Canada.
Now I like Canadians, eh, but should they be sending police here for the G20 ?
That was the agreement
we made with them.
If you think that is whacked ...
Turn the volume down to zero and watch this video. Try to guess what country this is happening in.
Then watch it again with the volume turned up.
